most of the "good" components of Islam were just stolen from the pagan religions that existed in the area around the Arab peninsula at the time, you can still get a grasp on it when you talk to some fresh of the boat islamic people sometimes its like some weird gaia / naturist / proto-bhuddism stuff thats wedged in amongst the Rest of islam.

Those beliefs however arent really a muhammed thing, theyre more pagan, Mecca and the black stone existed and held significance in the region long before muhammed was alive, If you go read the history of islams rise its essentially a gang of theives and robbers who turned into a terrorist organisation then turned into a kingdom.

guys like Ali (muhammeds cousin and right hand man) read more like outlaw highwaymen when you look at their history through a non-historic lens.

A large part of muhammeds success also is that many of the regions and "cities" he built his early kingdom around had tiny populations and were fairly backwater, medina which was one of his largest conquests only had about 20-30k people living in it, they didnt capture mecca until much later.
