As long as whoever was dumb enough to make that investment eats 100% of the cost I'm OK with it.

Oh wait, no, we've been subsidizing solar panels.

What could that land have been used for?

Now it's polluted with toxic chemicals.

This is why land is expensive. The cost of ruining it is high. When you buy land you are basically paying the amount of all opportunity cost of what else it could be used for for all time adjusted by a time dependent discount factor.

So in a perfect free market if he bought the land and can never sell it he ate exactly the amount of cost that he should.

Big Oil should send you a check

The solar farm is not 'destroyed'. Hail storms are anticipated. They'll replace the panel plexiglass, where necessary.

Why should Big Oil send me a check? I'm just saying companies should bear their costs.

You've been subsiding oil and gas to the tune of trillions of dollars. What's a few million for solar?

But let's be honest. You won't want solar until the Saudis have a monopoly on solar electricity and your balls in a vice, then you'll suddenly discover that solar is America's best friend.

Maybe I don't like being stolen from twice. Imagine shoplifting and saying that the store can't complain because others shoplift.

I think the toxic chemicals concern trolling is blown way out of proportion. The worst from this is the broken glass. The chemicals are in minute amounts and aren't the kind that spread easily.

It seems fake legacy news is torn between shitting on Texas and cheer-leading solar.

Solar panels in Australia are almost bullet-proof. I've seen somebody try to smash one up with a sledge hammer and barely crack the glass. They laugh at hail stones. What's up with American solar panels? Are they made of eggshells or something?
