I dumped firefox for Brave, so far it is a really good browser

enefi[S] 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I have been using FF for like 15 years now. I don't understand their decisions at all. It started as the most customizable and open browser, but now, it's hardly recognizable. They killed so many useful extensions when they "upgraded" to electrolysis. Extensions can no longer be installed (and kept enabled) unless they are approved by Mozilla (even if they are not installed from their store). And they are ramping up anti-freedom rhetoric past few years (maybe more, it's possible I was just not paying much attention). Yeah, I should start trying alternatives :/.

Trannies took over

[deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

The far-right always loves to blame LGBT people, when the real enemy is Communism — and this is for the same reason Hitler worked with Stalin: the far-right has more in common with the far-left than either does with the center. Both sides push for censorship, and both sides are to blame.

What you're doing is deflecting blame away from Mozilla and the far-left and directing it towards people who have nothing to do with the terrible things they're doing — and in many cases oppose it entirely. I'm transgender, and perhaps the most anti-communist person here; I was the one calling to use the insurrection act against BLM, and to remove Democrat politicians who enabled them — where was the far-right? Crying about LGBT people.

All you do is enable Communists; you're helping them with your ignorant rhetoric. The correct thing to say is "Commies took over." because that's exactly what happened.

trannies have a boner for communism

VirgilGriff 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I'm far right because I pointed out that trannies took over the Mozilla Foundation and forced a bunch of SJW bullshit in it? Their web browser literally pops up messages telling people to support LGBT shit.

Buddy, that's center. You're just sympathizing with culture-ruining communists.

I left when they installed their extension on my browser. Fk em. https://blog.mozilla.org/data/2018/08/20/effectively-measuring-search-in-firefox/

I'm not a huge fan of Brave because some of their legal wording about payment and such I found off-putting. I finally settled into Vivaldi.

chadwickofwv 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I had almost forgotten about Vivaldi. I'll add that to my list of possible browsers to switch to. I was considering Brave and Dissenter yesterday.

adultmanhwa 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Vivaldi is so laggy, better ungoogled-chromium or opera.

jbschirtzinger 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Have you seen who owns opera nowadays?

I don't know 😝, I'm librewolf/brave guy so far.

Brave refreshes tabs constantly and which never happened before in Chrome.

Bowiebow 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Is that a good or bad thing??

insta 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Bad. It can't seem to cache anything.

Bowiebow 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

How can I check this?

Orangutan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

How do you fix the scrolling situation in Brave browser? Scroll is almost unusable due to its hyper sensitivity and being way too fast going quickly from top of the page to bottom of the page and vice versa.

asheliapaine 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

Mozilla posted something about being able to flag videos you don't agree with. They call it Youtube Regrets. They claim it's to fight discrimination. Of course they had to mention transphobia because that's the "in thing" to complain about right now. They threw in racism too, but the woke brigade love to throw racism/sexism in there to backup what they really care about. I saw the real Mozilla right there and then. I'll never use their browser again.

Given my interactions with most techies, I never had any confidence that any corporation ever really did support a free and open internet.

madcow-5 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

If it's a public corporation, they're legally required to put profit ahead of all else.

insta 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

This is simply not true. Corporations put virtue signalling ahead of profits quite frequently.

I will of course agree that much of the virtue signalling is vapid and empty, but this libertarian talking point that all corporations care about is profit doesn't explain why every major corporation has a diversity initiative or board or department.

[deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

But they virtue signal for profit. Look at the opposite end, like Nestle. That company's reputation is awful, lot of people avoid any of their very numerous products. People want to buy from the good guys.

insta 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

Oh please, Nestle circlejerk is exclusive to Reddit.

They bring their own water from home in a hydroflask and pretend they're making a difference while buying from one of many of Nestle's subsidiaries.

whistlepig 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Agreed. Not a good business decision to kick off the president of the US... and then start work on tossing half of the country. Clearly business suicide and there clearly is an alternative motive that has nothing to do with financial profit. Maybe just further the divide or maybe there is more to it than that.

Free speech for pedos, but not for patriots.

Jesus-Christ 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Their only other line of defense is that it's "just a cartoon bro" implying it doesn't actually sexualize minors because it's "fake". Completely ignoring the fact that the drawing is catered to the pedophilic fantasy to begin with. The idea alone is enough for any sane person to realize it's immoral.

insta 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

I always just dismiss it with "If you're jerking off to Yaoi, you're gay. If you jerk to loli, you're a pedophile".

Never seen one of them make an actual rebuttal to that, especially since it uses their own fanfic.

Jesus-Christ 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Tbh I don't even know what Yaoi is, but I'm going to assume it's just as degenerare as Loli.

I don't presently have the bandwidth to watch this... how about someone just coming out and telling us what is in the present version of the browser that is anti-freedom. Other than the tracking functions that theoretically can be turned off.

enefi[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

They have been "woke" for some time, but now they are planning on censoring content of their browser (at least that how I read the article): We need more than deplatforming. They have shown a bias in curating censoring which extensions you are allowed to install and use into FF (e.g. the Gab extension; not only they kicked it from store, they also revoked the dev account for signing the package, so the extension cannot be installed and kept enabled between Firefox restarts; essentially killing the extension for normal users).

whistlepig 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

thank you. I didn't know about the Gab thing.

[deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Internet has deplatformed some content since the beginning. Banning 'stop the steal' as the movement attempts to kill people is fine by me.

bobbobbybob 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

dear god. how much do you get paid to spout your lines on here?

BLM scrawled "Kill all Pigs" and "Kil Whitey", whiclst actually killing cops and white people, and democrat leaders encouraged it. Now apparently even talking about the consequences of treason gets the brigades out condemming.

fuck your politics, fuck your insane ideology and fuck you

Fake news.

bobbobbybob 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

yeah, the news with video evidence, live images with sound, video, of murder occurring, of crowds screaming "kill" and its 'fake news'.

madcow-5 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

That's spicy, but that's not an attempt to kill people. Should certainly be considered a threat, or possibly incitement. An attempt to kill someone is like, pointing and firing a gun at them.

[deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

If you 'stop the steal', you are going to kill people. There is no way around that.
