"At a certain stage of growing up, most of us come to understand that worldwide agreement with our own set of personally held views is not achievable, even if it were desirable. Which it isn’t.

Today, however, we are dealing with an army of overgrown babies who never did make that realisation. They never did learn that the world is diverse in its opinions.

At university, they were told something positively dangerous: that people who disagree with them are not merely wrong, not merely ignorant, they are ill-informed bigots. And that, in order to achieve justice, these people must be cleared out of the way.

The world these activists are creating is vengeful and vicious, and increasingly dull..."

Infantilizing mainstream culture makes people easier to control. And as long as the world can support such an ideological bubble, it's often easier in the short term for most people to act like children, instead of having to think and work.

But eventually this laziness and lack of connection with reality, ends up causing resource shortages. And then once your bubble is popped, but you never learned how to grow up, then you're really in trouble. That's the position a good portion of America finds itself in, and for many there are no more debts and loans they can take out to keep the bubble afloat.

Um.. Are you describing the article, or the vague group of people the article points a finger at? Because this article is vague, and like a Chinese controlled Hollywood movie, it is empty, allowing the reader to villainize anyone they choose to prop up as the ominous 'they' it speaks of.

Sorry, all I am seeing is someone using peer pressure to tell the masses to abandon their ideals, and live without morals. Using stereotypes, such as what is being done here, is simply a way to dismiss entire groups of people, and make it easier to categorized the options of those you disagree with as without merit. Face it people. Douglas Murray is a coward. But on the plus side, I sure am glad he gave me this dire warning to be leery of this ominous 'they' and their unspecified agenda. Can't wait until the mass media gives me permission to protest against 'them'!

He's propping up a straw man, and placing himself in the same company as celebrities to fain legitimacy.

"The bullies want to stop the rest of us talking or thinking. It’s time the rest of us answered back."

Who exactly are these enemy? Where are they? Who are the 'we' he speaks of? He doesn't mention the political structures behind them, or the media groups shaping this narrative. Hell, he doesn't even mention Black Lives Matters, but he wants us to go on the offensive and 'answer back'. Douglas Murray is using juvenile insults to fan the flames. He is doing the exact opposite of what is needed and he knows it. Because he isn't part of the solution, he is profiting off of the chaos it generates.

(Edit: somehow I called him Douglas Adams and not Murray. Ooops!)

You are literally telling me what I think and what my morals are. I can't explain shit to you. It's clear that the only things you understand are the thoughts currently occupying your head. And I doubt that you would love to hear from me. It's more likely that you are being facetious and would love to argue. Now if you truly wish to understand me, look around this very comment thread for current statements I've made on this topic.
