Geesh, imagine falling like that out of control from something you've done so many times knowing there is no hope.

As a former skydiver, I can tell you this: Until you hit the ground, there's always hope. We're trained to never, ever give up. This guy had twisted lines and he was stuck in a spiral loop with a high rate of descent. He tried to deploy his reserve chute but it looks like it became entangled in the main lines and/or his body (That's called a double malfunction). But even in this desperate situation, you can see him fight until the very end to somehow free and correctly deploy the reserve chute to slow his descent. The poor guy just didn't have enough time to clear the malfunction.

It sounds like he gave up a bit at the end. Fighting, but he knew.
