HR works for the company. It does not work for you.
There was a time when HR was generally staffed with either long term employees of the company who had shown some interpersonal skills, or at least by individuals who had worked in the same industry and understood it. For about 3 decades, however, HR has been staffed mostly by graduates of a HR programme offered by some rinky dink college. These people, who enter the company with more status than the majority of the employees, generally have no experience within the industry and with little to no understanding of what the worker's lives are like. They are there only so that senior management does not have to deal with 'the workers' directly. That is to say to act as a barrier for management.
HR is not a necessary evil. HR is fucking cancer.
Be certain that you receive all of the requested info in writing.
Scan and save soft copies of any/all paper documents.
Send copies to your personal email account if that's an option.
Bonus points, if you can maintain the appearance of enthusiastic team work with HR.
Kill those bitches with kindness.
Edit: Great post.
Did this work for him?
A+++.
Hold their fucking feet to the fire. Tyranny by mandate is still tyranny!
Texas is a "right to work" state, that means they can fire your ass for anything. States that need a reason to fire you can make your job so goddamned miserable you quit.

HR is going to hate your guts but then HR is nobody's friend.
