Unless a different purpose comes up, it would most likely be a shared community site that users and groups would have their own sections for vanity blogs, topical sections, general newsletter publishing, etc.
Issues:
I have done zero research into it so far, but I'd wager there might be ways to make it easy to openly download/backup the database (like WikiSpooks has, and Projex.Wiki eventually will) which could be a sort of decentralizing hack. Maybe there are other ways to openly share data and databases too. Or ways to develop modules that might step towards decentralization goals without actually federating.
Perhaps we could even set up an automatic API thing to backup all of the open SaidIt RSS content (not private subs or private messages) to an openly shared database, and/or make it accessible and searchable via WordPress.
If interested, state what your goals, purpose, etc. would be so we could better serve your needs and functions.
I'm just throwing ideas at the wall to see if anything sticks.
