Whatever, the scientific research is overwhelming in its support for the developmental advantages of growing up with both of your birth parents. All other configurations are sub-optimal (all other things, like SES, being equal): single-parent homes, step-parents, same-sex parents, etc.

I remember as children we thought less of our peers from broken homes. Some children were even cruel about it.

It's not right to blame people for conditions over which they have no control. But it still remains a fact that two opposite-sex birth-parents are the best environment for children to grow up in.
