You run into that quit a bit reading stuff by the Romans during the very beginning of Christianity. The first Christians were called atheists because they refused to worship the gods LOL. Duality is baked into everything in this universe that we consider to "exist". Because of the way our senses are designed we only "know" things by comparison of frequency of change.
