Funny enough, all the gay and trans people I know are stoked about this game. I’ll probably buy 2 copies (one for my boyfriend) when I can afford it.

Lol at EA for adding the split attraction model into the game

It was explained that they are still coded as male or female. A “they/them” does not exist mechanically in the the game since it only changes text in the English version. Fortunately for us it means sexual orientation remains based on sex in the majority of cases.

It could be fun to create a Sim who’s meant to be prudish, a member of the clergy or a made up religion/cult, or a frat boy (aka an aromantic heterosexual 🙄). The pronouns update is also silly, but I might use it to create creatures referred to as “it” or maybe royal titles. I have no desire to use it for its supposedly intended purpose even though it could be interesting to mess around with.

I’m a bit younger than her and I already grew out of my trans phase. I get it when younger people are like this, but it’s hard for me to conceptualize an adult doing stuff like this.

I remember an American professor got in trouble (and possibly fired) for talking about the Mandarin filler word “nei ge”. It means “umm” or “that”. But since it somewhat sounds like a racist term, he got cancelled. Disgustingly Anglo-centric like all this woke BS.

Funny how they’re concerned about the removal of sexual orientation from history. Aren’t they the ones that removed “lesbians and gays” from their acronym?

Is not wanting to have sex with trans people transphobic? I’m trans, here’s what I think.
strawberrycake 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

I think the author said something like “sex with me is largely no different than any other gay man”. So this person might be a “gay trans man” who tend to really be intense activists against gay men’s boundaries.

Lesbian sex just keeps getting weirder

Singular they is really destroying my comprehension. I had to read it several times to understand if the person was referring to one or both of them in the situation (I’m still not certain and lost interest in finding out). It’s really not intuitive and I’m sure a nightmare for non-native speakers of English.

Just a rant I guess but I feel so alienated from my family. On Easter I just felt like I was from another planet. I can fake conversations and things like that but it’s difficult. Of course the gay thing is an elephant in the room. Some of the older people I overheard gossiping how they thought I was handsome and they need to set me up with a girl. The ones my mom’s age know, but like for example my aunt said I could take some food to “my buddy”. She knows I live with my boyfriend. Everything feels awkward and I can’t explain it.

Does it make sense?
strawberrycake 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

Yeah, the Anglocentrism of it is really gross. Also, my whole thing is that yes, we do sometimes use “they” as a singlar, but when we need to specify a singular person using “he” or “she” is far more clear. If you talk about a non-binary person among literally any group of people it is super confusing and there’s usually a breakdown in communication.

Same here… I knew someone who used to be very chill and fun to just be around. Lately she’s gotten very political and I had a feeling she’d transition (she did). Now she’s dragging her husband into the whole thing which everyone knows she’s literally abusive to him. Someone reported that she’s calling herself the f-slur now. It’s sad to see the cool girls I grew up with become brain-rotted by Twitter (another friend became a queer she/they non-binary, she’s a whole ass mom with a husband)

The Rise of Gender Critical Homophobia
strawberrycake 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

It’s pretty rampant among radfems and the like. The few times I’ve lurked radfem places (I don’t comment on them) they tend to push weird conspiracy theories about gay men. I went to one where they were talking about a gay man speaking out on biological sex and someone ranked gay men HIGHER than straight men on who is least likely to get pushback for speaking out. There was another article pushing some conspiracy shit that claimed something like women have no importance in the lives of gay men which makes them more nefarious than straight men. Seriously.

Needless to say, lesbians in these spaces tend to call out others the most on their homophobia so I trust them the most. Still, it’s not a good look that they perpetuate this crap. It’s unfortunate that as a gay male I feel we are on our own. It seems every ideology and philosophy blames us for everything. Anything from natural disasters to women’s rights it’s always our fault. 🙄

Is there any popular site on the net that hasn't degraded into a far-left echo chamber that eliminates all dissent? It's downright dystopian to not even be allowed to civilly disagree.
strawberrycake 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

Literally. I’ve been playing a lot of Genshin Impact lately and every gaming website I look at to find team builds and stuff just pushes this stuff. One just started blasting a video about “LGBTQ+ representation in video games” as some kind of ad without me clicking on it. Another recommended an article if I should play the new Harry Potter game if I “want to support my trans friends”. It’s all so tiring even when I am trying to enjoy escapism.

I used to work with an older white man who was a they/them and claimed he was a PoC. It’s definitely a thing that happens. An Indian woman I knew complained about it to me in private and how these identities made it more difficult to address how shitty he was at his job. It’s progressive armor.

Great article (about millennials turning homosexuality and bisexuality into a fad)!
strawberrycake 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

I’m a millennial too (late 20s) but this really is our fault. Our generation started this shit and is the one that is perpetuating it in institutions outside of academia.

I love how our “whole identity revolves around the genitals” (something literally a homophobic preacher would say) and yet their community is based around discussing penis envy. Freud would have a field day with these women.

Fellas, is it queer to support science?

It is definitely a secular religion as someone who used to believe in this BS. That’s why this ideology easily became a social contagion.

Everyone has their pronouns on their door
strawberrycake 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

I graduated college in the mid-2010s. A pronoun was just a grammatical term when I was there. I was never asked my pronouns. The LGBT organization had like one trans person and actual gay/bi people. I didn’t even know the concept or know anyone who identified as such until the early 2010s. In fact, I remember seeing a guy wearing a skirt on campus and everyone thought that was progressive. We were this close to a movement abolishing gender roles…

Ain't that just the way

What does this even mean? Is love between men so alien that it becomes a fantasy somehow? This is so degrading.

What a sad tale. This man is so distressed and the amount of malpractice directed toward detransitioners is insane. The part that really chilled me was when he recounted the doctor’s notes saying something like “patient claims to be male and denies being female”. Like, we have descended into some real lunacy.

This is a medical scandal in the making. Either the activists will suppress information like this or this behavior will be looked back on horrifically like lobotomy.

They see these terms like “twunk” as something they can just identify into. Any deviation is gatekeeping, which I’ve legit seen a bigger woman accuse others of when they didn’t think she was a twink (it’s fatphobic too!). However, to most gay men these terms simply exist to talk about body types. They are not uwu precious fandoms. Clueless straight people are appropriating these terms.

I also find her conversion to Judaism interesting. It seems she’s trying to identify into as many oppressed categories as she can.

Pegging with a hint of delusion. Bon Appétit!

Ah yes, some nostalgic propaganda I remember falling for when I believed in gender. I hated my sexuality so much I tried to identify to something more politically correct. Dark times that they will deny anyone experiences

There must be something in the water… I know two different women in heterosexual relationships that have come out as some sort of trans all of a sudden. It seems to come out of nowhere like this reddit user who was straight yesterday.

Who's the man in a gay relationship? Hm? Hm?!?!
strawberrycake 30 insightful - 1 fun30 insightful - 0 fun31 insightful - 1 fun 2 years ago

I suppose that would be your interpretation of gay men if your only frame of reference is porn.

Also, to me this implies that ancient homophobic idea of a penetrated man being relegated to a non-man status. I’m sure that goth’s mind would explode learning that my more feminine boyfriend tops sometimes.

Misogyny here.- Oh wait, that's you!

I said that in a sense of accepting it’s a possible outcome. I don’t want it to happen and will do what I can. However, this very well might be the new transhumanist religion of the future and we are mere heretics and apostates who are a footnote in the history books.
