It's not dumb. It's a strategic attack to appropriate the word to claim gay spaces because lesbians have a very different history than gay men. Lesbians betrayed gay men and wasted all their energy into carrying water for straight and bi women for things like abortion rights, domestic violence (for protecting straight women who choose violent men) and everything else and spent zero energy on homosexual rights and left that all to gays.

Lesbians got nothing in return from straight and bi women and just had their spaces colonized by bisexual women and their boyfriends so now lesbians are pretending theyre best friends with gays without apologizing and making amends.
