My only hope for it is that it's being used as part of a sting operation and is used to help take down multiple paedo rings. I know it's unlikely but that's the only way I can understand how reddit hasn't looked into it more when literally everyone who has encountered them knows that's what they do. Considering Reddit's propensity to protect admins unless there's massive outrage though? Feels like that makes it even more unlikely.

Genuinely that whole sub has to be reported to the FBI with the...content they use for that.

Not that reddit cares in regards to that content. Probably sourcing it from their private spank banks tbh.

Honestly the only subs that are good are ones that are niche and stay on purpose. As soon as you allow it to stray slightly that's when the rot sets in. It is funny to see them whine that their trans meme got removed from a completely irrelevant sub though. Then see the complain that their post about that got removed for also being off topic. Wish I could remember which sub I saw that in but that mod team was fucking gold for just telling them that no one cares and it's not what the sub is for.

Probably drew attention and got AHSed. Still wild that that sub is still up despite them breaking all the rules.

Sort of facsinating how fast the opinion turns when they don't get to use it as one of their 'I'm morally correct' bludgeons.

Feels like they aim to make it hard to have a reasonable conversation on it by labelling anyone who does want to look into it (like this report) as Transphobic in an attempt to shut it down and that anyone that disagrees with them is an evil bigot rather than what they actually are which is mostly concerned about people and worried that the treatment they're suggesting is going to cause more harm than good.

I'm seeing so much misinfo about it and a lot of people making up lies or calling her transphobic and evil.

Listen to the science unless it disagrees with me, then we go along with what I think or you're all evil and want to harm every trans child.

Honestly it's genuinely unhinged when I've seen comments saying things like the entirety of multiple countries are transphobic for pausing puberty blockers. There's no consideration for the fact that these places will have looked into it independently and come to the same conclusion. I don't see someone who is in that much of a chokehold over it changing their opinion anytime soon because they're so consumed by it.

Don't be silly, someone doing this wouldn't think about it enough to pick a name with a meaning that's relevant.

Probably just prepping them for when someone else dies so she can come out as a fish.

And monkeys might fly out of my butt! UK Labour Party, likely the next government in Westminster, unambiguously commits to implementing recommendations from Cass Review of Gender Identity Services for children!

Ofc they are. Trust the science didn't work this time so now it's the science that's mean.

Almost like if you cry about everything people stop taking you seriously.

If you're a nazi transphobe bigot for having a really mild opinion then ofc no one is going to give a shit anymore. All you're doing is watering down terms.

It's actually kind funny how they're basically a JK hate sub at times.

Like my dudes. She had nothing to do with the game other than making a ton of money from it. She'll thank you for the free marketing and move on. You should all do the same.

I have a feeling most of them probably have Harry Potter tattoos and are just bitter JK doesn't share their exact opinion on everything, which makes her the worst person ever to them.

Wouldn't surprise me. Some of them also really seem to want that dramatic blow-up with their family. I'm not convinced a few of them don't manufacture drama just so they can say their family hates them for being trans.

Right? Your skin is a big part of you. Take care of it. Some men are so damn resistant to even the basic shit when it literally only helps.

Plus some of it just makes your skin feel and look a lot better even if what you're doing is minimal. I just don't want people to have cracked skin or manage to get an infection from it all because moisturiser is for women.

Skincare routines are good for everyone too. Some people seem to think it's all about being pretty when some of it is just basic looking after yourself like wearing sunscreen. Or using moisturiser, I know that really helps my bf with his eczema and general skin health. As he puts it "It helps stop my skin from falling off."

There's a reason hormones/teenage years are rough. Lots of changes in that time. Removing that melting pot does seem like the brain doesn't get what it's needed.

Bold of you to think that the dad stuck around.

I mean I'm def judging slightly but I've def seen more than one case where there's a single mother who seems to hate men including her son to the point that you can absolutely see her convincing the son that he's actually her daughter. Especially seems to be the case when they're really wrapped up in their kids life being a 'friend' rather than a parent.

Well technically as true believers they'll be up against the wall right after they've 'won'.

Haylstorm 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 3 months ago

Makes sense. All the teens getting it now probably aren't having the regret kick in until they're in their 20s or 30s and seeing their peers do things and realising that they can't because of what they've done to themselves in some cases. For others it might be the realisation of complications and lifelong consequences and understanding what that means.

I can't imagine it'll be pretty when it does come along and honestly I feel pretty sad for the ones that were pushed onto a medical pathway by a doctor they trusted who have to live with the results. Even worse for the ones with botched results.

It's the 2xchromosones nonsense all over again. They take over every space and cry transphobia if there's anything less than bowing before them. It's pathetic honestly. From the accepting to not offend them side and from them going there side. I swear if given a chance they take over a sub and make it all about them.

Hey now they have the lesbian porn sub. That was really amusing and depressing for a time tbh. Also likely modded by men who just don't want to see dick in their lesbian porn lol. Funny that the only place a lesbian is female is there though...

Why is it when a patent comes in claiming their toddler is trans no psychiatrist thinks it's the parent who needs treatment?
Haylstorm 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun 4 months ago

It's so weird though. Nearly everyone does things from both. Like I know a lot of men that really enjoy baking. I know a lot of women that enjoy sports and working on cars. To most people it's just hobbies or stuff and has nothing to do with their sex. When places like Tavistock are using "well you like Thomas the tank engine and hate periods" as their reasoning for someone being trans it's just so out there that anyone looking in thinks the people saying that are mental. Most women I know hate periods. A fair few of them enjoyed Thomas as a kid, myself included. It was never anything more than...enjoying Thomas.

Really feel bad for that kid.

Like even if they're actually trans that media presence and pressure on you cannot be healthy. Every moment of your life there for everyone to see...that's my idea of hell and that's just all they've known.

I'm transitioning but nobody cares and won't validate me :(
Haylstorm 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 4 months ago

Honestly that sort of thing can be really beneficial for kids.

Touch grass but them actually doing it and realising the sky isn't falling just because someone on twitter was mean or w/e can be really helpful for their development and help them engage with the world around them.

Some of them might even find new hobbies! I know when I did camping with the guides when I was younger a lot of people fell in love with it. I remember being 10 and feeling really proud that we'd put the tent up ourselves with no adult help. That we'd go make dinner next. I know at least one girl there who fell in love with mycology. We didn't pick any back then ofc cause who trusts a ten year old to know what ones are safe or dangerous when they can look very close. She now does talks/rambles on it and loves pointing out different ones. Same with foraging in general where she'll talk about what berries are safe and what to not risk it on.

Even something small like a day out at the farm where you can get your own milk/collect your own eggs or fruit/veggies can be really enriching.

My country doesn't have bears though. But every kid that did those days always really enjoyed it back then.

That is actually really sad for them. No one should be teaching them that. Like they must've got it from somewhere but a quick google should tell them what's really up.

It's just such an unrealistic view that I can't picture anyone having it without a lot of people telling them that which is terrifying.

I really dislike what seems to be the trend of making it seem like these sorts of surgeries are no big deal. I feel like many get convinced by it that it actually will be that easy and aren't properly informed on the horrors of what can go wrong or the lifelong problems they might be left with in that case.

I get that they feel like it's 'worth it' going into it because a lot of them do seem to feel "it's this or I kill myself" not realising it won't be a cure all or thinking about potential years of pain and complications.

Good for them!

Hopefully they can make sure their siblings do the best they can there. And more people who need it feel the benefit of a PRU like that kid. Though it's not a one size fits all thing it does seem like it can be a really useful tool of last resort.
