I thought the only way to gamble in a runescape private server was the duel arena but I learned that there were other ways players could gamble in the game. Some private servers have created new gambling methods like roulette, blackjack, and dice bags that were not present in the original game.
One of the main issues with gambling in any game is that you don't know whether the odds are rigged. In many online casinos the game is a scam and you will lose your money because the gambling algorithm is written in a way that you can never profit. Most casinos have a mechanic where you will lose over time, but online casinos will just steal your money.
One way to combat this is to have the players play against each other. This way the casino cannot be blamed for rigging the odds. Of course this does not eliminate the scam factor. A private server can easily steal back their money by using one of their own characters and rig the odds this way. The solution to this is having a game that is totally trust based. The player doesn't lose money automatically if they lose but gives the money voluntarily. This increases scam risk but it is the safest way for paranoid players to gamble.
Most players don't want to do this however and do trust the server. Gambling games that the player can play with the server directly are a good way for players to instantly gamble. Roulette or blackjack are the most common options and most players are already familiar with the rules so they will be the main option. Slots can also be added as well as any other the private server chooses.
One of the most popular games private servers host is flower poker. I find this game to be retarded and makes no sense but players seem to enjoy it. It has an added benefit where you can play it yourself with another player or in a server moderated game.
Duel arena is another option and my personal favorite. It looks cool and is fun to play. If it is difficult to implement the other gambling strategies I'll just do this one because it was already created in the original runescape.
