The American Beautyberries I still have had no luck germinating despite using a fuck ton of berries. The soil surface grew mossy from keeping the soil moist and I didn't think much of it. I didn't think much of the little bugs that started congregating. It was neat watching them munch on the moss. Like little farmers. I figure they were probably spreading nice bug poop around while eating something I didn't care about.
But I noticed my seedlings from other plants are getting munched on also. Doh. So I looked up the bugs and they're thrips and a pest. Oh well, farewell my little farmer bugs. I just sprayed them down with 91% isopropyl alcohol. It kills small bugs pretty quickly. Will reapply as needed for when their eggs hatch.
We could have lived in peace, bugs, but you just didn't leave my seedlings alone.
