So I hear a lot about ‘trans rights’. I want to know, what rights do trans people not have? I’m in the UK. Trans people cannot be discriminated against in employment, can vote, can marry who they want, can not be refused medical care due to their trans status etc. What rights don’t you have?
Using the facilities and playing sports with your chosen gender (instead of your birth sex) is not a right. No-one is stopping transwomen or transmen playing men’s sport, or using men’s facilities (specifically TW re facilities). Having a long waiting list for medical care isn’t a rights issue- it’s a funding issue. Mental health (non-trans related issues) has huge waiting lists too. Same for people who need kidneys. It’s not a rights issue- it’s lack of funding in all sectors.
So, what rights do trans people not have? I’m specifically talking U.K. but would be happy to know more about the situation in other countries, which I know little about and where the situation is likely different.
