Reporting spam here can be a bit like bailing out a sinking boat without first fixing the gaping hole in its hull.

Simply setting the first few posts of new accounts to moderation queues could help. The nature of what a mod would review will tell a lot about the account and whether or not it should be afforded unfettered access to a forum.

In all fairness, this is the admin's playpen to deal with as they wish. There's nothing that compels it to be about free speech so I suppose the bigger part of my frustration is with myself for thinking otherwise.
