I think this explains my friend's roommate (I stayed with them for a few months over winter while I was starting a job in their area). I was pretty certain she is straight. Apparently she had just broken up with her boyfriend who was turning out to be abusive. She was still hanging out with him - he would come over to pick her up as she used him for his car, and it sure looked like they were still together. She was also sleeping with her (male) pot dealer, who turned out to have the hots for this other chick, who claimed to be asexual/lesbian.

There is video on the victim's facebook page where he and his girlfriend or wife are driving around the Portland riot zone, and they blame the cops for making it worse by shooting rubber bullets. And they are talking about how they got footage of the cops "kneeing" on a black protestor. People will spin this story any way that fits their own narrative, but this guy was pretty dumb and naive about people and how people act in zones already set up for rioting and violence.

I have experienced the same thing this year. Additionally, I decided to stop living in my car since the pandemic made that a million times harder, and the only affordable month-to-month I found is WAY in the middle of nowhere. So I'm very geographically isolated from people as well. It's just as well because my desire to be around most of the people I knew has gone away since they have shown who they truly are during this weird year.

I feel bored and isolated in a painful way, but I think that mostly has to do with job loss.

They are the ones you hear crying in the news about how they can't find anybody to hire despite a recession or despite a pandemic where people are going to lose unemployment benefits! I lost count of how many jobs I've interviewed for who claim to love all of my stuff then pull out something menial and stupid to bitch about. Often it's that they THINK I live too far from the job that I will eventually quit because of the commute. Even when I try to reassure them they won't even listen, despite that I have solid reasons why a half hour commute ain't shit to me. And I live in a region where MOST people actually commute over an hour to work one way.

They pull at straws to have a problem with every single candidate and then I see the job open again in a month and for months on end, nearly every single time.

Same but I never cared. In the sense that I finally deleted almost all of my social media accounts where the advice these days is to have them because jobs want to see that you have them. Screw that, why do I need to be FORCED to have social media accounts so I can get hired?!

It never hurt me, I found a great job in December. What hurt me was these cowardly crybabies who would keep fake social media accounts demanding all "non-essential" businesses close. I worked at a non-profit making okay money, but non-profits are notorious for always being in the red or having to float funds because governments are measly with them. So the job is permanently gone. But I got it despite not playing the social media game.

I am really into birds, joined the local club ages ago, recently quit the whole thing (pandemic made that easier to do). Why? Because the core group is a sausage party of guys who always have had snarky or condescending comments to try to make them feel like they are better at finding and identifying birds than me. They also misidentified a bunch of hard-to-tell apart species that I correctly identified ages ago, only to have an expert come along and tell them they were wrong and that I was right on all of them. They ignored me when I gloated. When I quit the WhatsApp recently I told them that I hated them and one of the bigger assholes begged me not to leave because he thinks I'm a great birder with advanced skill and higher level knowledge. None of these guys EVER gave me a compliment ONCE until I finally had enough of their misogynistic shit.

There are plenty of immature adults out there who truly think you have to be mean all the time to everybody you don't like. I've had this happen over and over again where I am courteous to people I truly do not like at all, and they KNOW I don't like them, and they actually get offended when I still help them once in a while without something I know they need. We live in a country full of adult babies with no concept of the fact that everybody is a human being with wants and needs and that you don't have to treat people you don't like as all bad and your arch nemesis. Pretty much. It seems like everybody wants to play label games these days so I can play them too. I come right out and correct people if they use "queer" and want me involved. To me it is like others demanding I use their pronouns and them rejecting pronouns others use for them. I am rejecting THEIR labels they use for ME.

I actually just sent an email to an Audubon chapter about their "queer walks" because I wondered if lesbians weren't included since we aren't a bunch of queers. I have never said it out loud before but I finally won a fight against my abusive mother who started the whole thing in my 20s by punching me in the head. She stands nearly 9" taller than me and is obese where I was quite thin. Yet I kicked her ass finally, not put-her-in-hospital level, but just enough as a, "You're not as tough as you think," and never looked back. It was justified, it was self-defense, and while it didn't heal everything, I had a therapist wonder how I seemed to be so far ahead of so many people who came from dysfunctional families.

Most of the snotty people screaming about how dangerous Covid-19 is are big fatties. I mean, there are some cases where a medical condition (which would ALREADY give them a co-morbidity) causes them to gain weight easily and rapidly, but everybody else just eats way too much crap. I've moved a lot in the past few years and I don't mean from apartment to apartment in the same little area. The petty changes from place to place in what can and cannot be recycled were so ridiculous that I almost gave up caring - fortunately the bin at my current house has a detailed list of what CAN go in there and what should NOT. The last municipality did not even have a convenient hand-out or PDF on their webpage detailing what they do and do not accept, and accordingly, the friends I was staying with threw everything in the garbage instead.
