I knew it would happen, but I'm still sad.

Seriously, I hate Reddit. It doesn't matter how nice and kind and accepting people are. What matters is that they dissent from the party line. It was so upsetting when our small GCDebatesQT sub was banned for "hate speech," just like SuperStraight was. We even had two trans women moderators and a community full of trans and non-trans people who were friends and liked and respected each other, even when we disagreed. But none of that was enough for Reddit. The admins there just want to silence unapproved speech.

I feel genuinely horrible for the person involved, but this reminds me of that recent news story about a bunch of trans teenagers who got kicked out of the men's restroom at the Iowa State Capitol building and were in tears because of it.

I was like Jesus, nothing screams female socialization like crying because you were kicked out of a restroom. A group of teenage boys would never in a million years have behaved that way.

In case anyone is not aware, the child featured in this episode is Kai Shappley, whose conservative Christian parents beat him for being feminine as a preschooler before ultimately taking him to a gender clinic and having him transitioned.

Kimberly turned to a DIY form of conversion therapy. She dressed Kai in camouflage and held her down to cut her blond hair into a flattop. Since most of the family’s seven children are boys—Kimberly has one adult daughter—there were no “girl toys” at home, but Kimberly asked the Christian daycare Kai attended to hide any baby dolls from her as well. When Kai turned her T-shirts into skirts or insisted she was a girl, Kimberly spanked her. When Kai asked for a Minnie Mouse birthday cake, Kimberly bought her one with Mickey.

“No matter how much punishment this kid got, you couldn’t beat it out of her,” Kimberly said. “You couldn’t pray it out, I couldn’t cast it out.”

I feel like I've finally peaked. I've been GC-leaning for years, but fuck it. I may as well identify as full GC considering everyone in the world has lost their damn mind and any form of moderation is now considered evil.

What initially inspired me to lurk GC about 4 years ago was that I was fed up with pro-BDSM rhetoric on Reddit. GC was the only sub I could find that called out sexual dehumanization and degradation of women. I thought you guys were wrong and hateful about trans issues at first, but I continued lurking for posts about BDSM and other radical feminist topics and was essentially "converted." At the same time, I started to lurk 4thwavenow and learned about all the worrying cases of toddlers and preschoolers being transitioned, and the dramatic rise in young girls disavowing their biological sex.

I still consider myself a moderate person and have no problem at all with adult old-school transsexuals. I'm happy to use their preferred pronouns, but I'm fucking upset and scared by how extreme activists have apparently taken over the entire world and squashed dissent, both inside and outside of the trans community. It's like something out of a George Orwell nightmare. I worry for the future of highly GNC children and teenagers, especially girls. I can only hope the bubble will burst soon. At the moment, you can't even say you are against minors being given hormones and surgeries without being labeled "the enemy."

It's all horrible and the number one thing that makes me no longer want to be female.

Sadly, I think almost every man out there abuses women during sex. A recent poll found that nearly 70% of women admitted having men commit violence on their bodies during consensual sex.

Over two-thirds of men under 40 have slapped, choked, gagged or spat on partner during sex, BBC Scotland doc finds

Third of British women have experienced unwanted choking, slapping or spitting during sex

Notice the second article specifies "unwanted." Another 31% said they had also experienced it but that it wasn't unwanted. That means at least 69% of women are experiencing violent sex. Not to mention some of the other 31% who "didn't know" or "preferred not to say." How can you not know? I assume some of the women in this last category were too embarrassed to talk about it.

I was told multiple times it was just "fun and games" and "no big deal." I was the one with the problem if I objected to men hitting or choking me. I said I would file a police report if that happened to me, and I was informed I was the crazy one. These men are so desensitized to violence that they apparently don't even register what they're doing as violent. They just consider it normal sex.

I had multiple men on Reddit tell me there was no need to ask permission before wrapping your hands around a woman's throat and lightly choking her. They're of the opinion that if the woman doesn't like it, she can just say so. Not that they have to ask before performing a violent and humiliating act on someone's body.

I just don't understand it. How did society come to this? 20 years ago, she would have been a perfectly normal tomboy.

I don't believe for a second this 10 year old girl has expressed hatred for her vagina or her female body in general. I'd be surprised if she were ever suicidal over being a girl. What the hell is driving this? She's a fucking baby, and her parents have decided she's a boy. The plot of the movie is also screwed up because in real life, 99% of kids would never get transitioned if their moms weren't driving the bus. This movie is portraying the father as a pro-trans "hero" when in real life he'd be the parent least likely to give a shit about any of this. The dads in these families are either oblivious or homophobic. The moms are the ones trying to score "woke" points or in some cases have more sinister motivations.

[–]worried19[S] 27 insightful - 1 fun27 insightful - 0 fun28 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, doctors prescribe blockers to children with precocious puberty. That was their original use.

However, this female child was apparently put on testosterone. Testosterone is not a treatment for precocious puberty. Did you read the article? Olson-Kennedy is one of the most enthusiastic proponents for medicalizing young children. She regularly prescribes testosterone for 12 year olds and gives the green light for mastectomies to be performed on 13 year olds.

More on this doctor:

Younger’s lawyer, Logan Odeneal, asked Olson-Kennedy whether it is safe or ethical to remove healthy breast tissue from adolescent girls as young as 13, as has been recommended at her clinic.

Odeneal: Well, if you remove the breasts from a young woman, she will never be able to lactate or to breastfeed an infant; is that correct?

Olson-Kennedy: Well, I, I don’t advocate removal for breast tissue from young women. I advocate for chest reconstruction in young men.

Odeneal: Well haven’t you referred girls to have the chest surgery from your clinic?

Olson-Kennedy: They’re, they’re, they’re not girls. They’re not girls. They don’t identify as girls. So I have referred people who identify as transmasculine or as boys or young men for surgery, yes.

Odeneal: But do their birth certificates identify them as girls?

Olson-Kennedy: Sometimes, and sometimes they’ve had their gender marker changed on their birth certificate.

Odeneal: How many patients have you referred for the chest surgery?

Olson-Kennedy: Probably about 200.

People are like, “why is there a boy in the girl’s bathroom? That’s a real problem.” And so this kid was like, so that’s not super working for me, so I think that I wanna maybe enroll in school as a boy.

I used to be more QT, after all. I think back to what made me change my views, and I still find those reasons valid.

I would love to think I'm simply misguided, but I just can't believe that I am. To me, there's just something so profoundly wrong with what's happening in Western countries. I consider myself a very ethical and moral person. I hold myself to extremely high standards. I wouldn't be GC unless I was convinced it was the correct ethical position to take. I look at what's happening right now and I believe the actions undertaken by many are immoral, especially when it comes to children and young people. That's why I hold my current stance despite the mainstream considering it worthy of denunciation.

[–]worried19 24 insightful - 1 fun24 insightful - 0 fun25 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your story. I've always said that if I'd been born 10 or even 5 years later, I may have found myself in the same position.

When I was entering puberty, transgender people were still "born in the wrong body" transsexuals. I specifically thought to myself in middle school that I couldn't be trans because I didn't hate my body. At that time, there was no large movement of transgender preteens or teens appearing in the mainstream and certainly no encouragement that someone could be trans without genital dysphoria.

It concerns me greatly that young girls are being encouraged to think of themselves as trans when so many of them are simply gender nonconforming, lesbian, traumatized, autistic, or just hate society's pornified view of women and the accompanying rigid gender roles.

It's disgusting, and women like her drag down the rest of the female sex when they engage in self-degradation.

That said, it's a free world. But surely any feminist should be able to understand why women celebrating the patriarchy and demeaning themselves for the male gaze are considered harmful. I think social class is more influential than parenthood. In general, it seems like middle to upper middle class white women are really on board the "woke" train. Poor women, working class women, immigrant women, not so much. I think this is also reflected in female transition. The current explosion of adolescent natal female teenagers identifying as trans is not spread out evenly among all demographics. Go to a school in the inner city and count the number of trans boys, and then go to a rich neighborhood in Seattle or San Francisco and count them. I can pretty much guarantee there would be a stark difference in numbers.

laughs in GNC

  • I can use public restrooms that match my gender without fear of verbal abuse, physical intimidation, or arrest
  • I have the ability to walk through the world and generally blend-in, not being constantly stared or gawked at, whispered about, pointed at, or laughed at because of my gender expression.
  • I can reasonably assume that my ability to acquire a job, rent an apartment, or secure a loan will not be denied on the basis of my gender identity/expression.
  • People don't speculate that my gender identity is a result of abuse or trauma.
  • I can easily find role models and mentors to emulate who share my identity.
  • Hollywood accurately depicts people of my gender in films and television

This is really such bullshit for those of us who are gender nonconforming and have been our whole lives. No, I can't use women's restrooms without fear of public scrutiny or harassment. No, I don't fucking blend into the crowd. I've had people stare and gawk and whisper at me for years. Drunk dudes have yelled "what the fuck is that?" at me in public. I've been called slurs like "dyke" based on my masculine presentation. No, I don't have to worry that my gender expression won't cause employers to reject me. In many workplaces, femininity is overtly or covertly required. I can't walk into an office anywhere in the world and get a job. No, actually people do speculate about women who reject femininity. Some people believe we do reject it because of trauma or abuse. No, I can't find female role models who look like me. They are almost entirely absent and decreasing every day as more and more GNC females flee womanhood like a house on fire. No, Hollywood doesn't accurately depict women like me at all. We're either absent or increasingly transitioned, which is also reflected in real life.

It pisses me off to see people who never have to deal with any of this shit be so cavalier about it and claim that it only affects GNC people who identity as transgender. I don't have any of this so-called "cis privilege" as a masculine woman.

Some of them apparently are that homophobic, at least according to the recent BBC report.

We did have a lot of families and parents who would actively tell us that, "oh, I'm so glad at least my child is not gay or lesbian," implying that having a trans outcome would be better for their children.

It's depressing when you see almost every other GNC female person jumping ship.

I don't know any other GNC women in real life, and to be honest, I would be afraid to get to know them for fear that they would just abandon womanhood, too. It's already happening with celebrities and public figures. Maybe some of the older ones are safe, but I think anyone under 40 is more likely than not to disavow their biological sex.

I've considered it myself. Why struggle to stay a woman in a world that hates all women? Why be GNC when I know I could pass flawlessly as a trans man? Why be female when I struggle with a shit ton of internalized misogyny, loathing, and contempt for other females? I guess the only thing stopping me is that I know it would be wrong, dangerous to my health, and would set a terrible example for the poor GNC girls who did not ask to be born into a society like this. If I abandon womanhood along with everyone else, they'll have no role models. I don't want to hurt the next generation like that.

There are groups out there that actively work to teach BDSM to children and teenagers. Planned Parenthood is one of them.

https://web.archive.org/web/20130311055325/https://www.plannedparenthood.org/hudsonpeconic/files/Hudson%20Peconic/50_shades_registration.pdf

This was part of an expose some conservative group did on Planned Parenthood. Apparently, they found a lot more besides this. They were also promoting kink directly to underage teens. Unfortunately, it seems like this only got traction with anti-abortion groups. Planned Parenthood erased much of their BDSM content after this expose, but some of it is still there. This event was advertised to youth educators, especially middle school and high school teachers. Why in God's name would they hold an event like this with "a specific focus on teenagers?" It doesn't seem like any feminists called out Planned Parenthood for their actions in this case. This was back in 2014, but I can only find conservative sites talking about it, no feminist ones.

Instead, Anderson wrote, Charis regularly spotlights transgender authors, including scheduling a virtual event that will take place on July 16 for two transgender authors of "transmasculine narratives" for children: Lexie Bean (The Ship We Built, a middle grade novel) and Tobly McSmith (Stay Gold, a YA novel). It also organizes support groups for trans teens and for parents of trans children.

And this is supposed to be a feminist bookstore. They're focused on erasing girls. It's disturbing how many books are getting published that feature pre-adolescent children being transitioned. There are apparently dozens of them. Middle school and elementary school and preschool.

[–]worried19[S] 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm fine with using preferred pronouns, but I consider them a courtesy, not a right. I will happily use them for adults as long as they are acting in good faith. However, I don't feel comfortable using them for children.

Gender-neutral pronouns bother me because society has gotten to the point where GNC people are automatically "theyed" by others. Back on the old sub, we had a teacher who posted that she pulled aside a 14 year old GNC girl and asked her for her pronouns. This is harmful and regressive and seems to be happening far more often than not. Feminine women are never assumptively called "they," only masculine ones.

I was an ally. I wouldn't say I was extremely informed or vocal, but I viewed trans people like gay people, and the only reason I could see to be against them was religion. Since I wasn't religious, it made no sense to think God hated people for being gay or transgender. Homophobia and (by extension) transphobia just seemed stupid.

I still strongly support anti-discrimination laws in areas like housing, employment, public accommodation, marriage, custody, adoption, and so on. I have zero problem with adult transsexuals who transition because they suffer from extreme physical dysphoria. My issue is with the craziness that has erupted over the past 5 or so years, the extreme activists who seek to silence all dissenting opinions, irreversible medical treatments being given to children and teenagers, women's sports and safety in jails and shelters being compromised, etc.

I remember watching this documentary about a transgender summer camp:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N90m5B2jm80

You can tell it was released back in 2015 because all the talking points hadn't solidified yet. One thing I found most disturbing about the camp is that it collected dozens of GNC little boys together, but the camp did not provide even one GNC adult male role model. There was nothing to indicate that any of these children ever saw an example of an adult man like them.

When children don't see adult models of themselves, they can't picture themselves as adults. It happened to me as a kid. I couldn't picture myself growing up to be a woman like the women around me. Luckily the mid to late 2000s was before children were encouraged to be transgender. So nothing permanent ever resulted from my disidentification with others of the female sex.

This might be an interesting topic for the debate sub, too, if you'd like to crosspost it there.

The thing that bugs me most is that the individual didn't use the co-ed area. That makes me pretty certain this was a bad actor with bad motivations. Going into an area fully nude with naked women and underage girls with your male genitals intact makes me think that at the very least their decision was based on validation and entitlement, and worst case scenario, there may have been a predatory sexual motivation.

By the way, I personally have nothing against mixed nudity, but it should be a choice, not forced on people who are expecting a single sex environment. My family was casual about nudity and I was frequently naked around kids and adults of both sexes while changing, and there was nothing weird or traumatizing about it. But that was my family's culture, not society as a whole. I would have no problem being naked around a non-op trans woman as long as it was a designated space for that.

[–]worried19 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think it would a lot healthier for the community to acknowledge that being trans is nothing to celebrate. At its root, sex and genital dysphoria is a malady. It causes harm to individuals. People should not wish for others to suffer dysphoria nor should they resent or try to stop reasonable attempts to eliminate dysphoria. Why would they want others to suffer if they don't have to, especially children? You can celebrate people in the trans community overcoming obstacles and surviving, living their best lives in spite of dysphoria, but that's quite different from celebrating dysphoria itself. No one should wish for other people to become trans. It's condemning those people to a lifetime of potentially severe mental distress and medical complications.

I also believe that the trans community needs to reckon with the fact that literal sex changes are not possible. In their desperate attempt to deny the reality of sex, things in the trans community have gotten more and more extreme. This not only harms other groups, like women, children, and homosexuals, but harms trans people themselves. Chasing something that is impossible is not good for mental health. Biological sex is fixed. Trans people will always be members of their birth sex, and if they would just come to terms with that, I think it would do wonders for them overall. They can be transsexual, but they should not deny that there are biological differences between them and their target sex. I think if the movement embraced this reality, they would not be so aggressive and hell bent on trying to force "equality" that is not really equality on the population at large.

I just feel disheartened. It's like one step forward, two steps back, especially in the USA. I don't understand how this squares with freedom of religion, since there are religions where girls are not allowed to touch males or undress in front of males. I don't understand how politicians can throw high school girls under the bus and remove all chances of them winning competitions because they were not born male. There is no way they can compete against natal males with unaltered bodies who have gone through male puberty. Does Joe Biden care? Do the Democrats care? Of course not. They smear these girls as haters and bigots. It's depressing.
