Keep them around, and stop attacking them. Y'all need to learn how to respect people who are different from yourselves.

The web is nothing but a picture box now.

What is your ideal identity and its membership criteria?
wendolynne 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Since you don't want bureaucracy involved, you answer is in who you choose to mate with, and who you convince to mate with you. The line between group membership and bureaucracy is fuzzy.

Are there any vax mandates at your workplace or stores you visit? If so, how do you respond to them?
wendolynne 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

That's the way to do it! They are making it clear that unvaxxed are not welcome, and they should realize the economic impact of that position. Be firm with this commitment. People who lie about their vax status are disgraceful.

Hmmm, we could apply Pascal's Wager:

Either the covid is real or it's a hoax. You can take the vaccine or not.

If covid is real and to take the vaccine, you are saved.

If it is not real and you take the vaccine, your arm will be sore for a few days.

If it's not real and you don't get the vaccine, you will be fine.

If it is real and you don't get the vaccine, your lungs could turn into cement and it could kill you.

Lack of critical thinking - What is the root of this?
wendolynne 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Critical thinking is an essential skill to become a person in a position of power. Persons who appear to have power but do not have the skill of critical thinking are puppets to someone who does have the skill.

I've watched all of the media that I use to love turn to shit in the last decade. Myspace was great, for a time. Facebook was too. Digg. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Colbert. Chapelle. JRE. YouTube. Reddit. They all got mainstreamed (or ceased to exist altogether) and they all lost their edge.
wendolynne 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun 3 years ago

It's still a big internet, and you can still find stuff worth reading/watching. I'm not going to list my favorites here, for fear that they may become popular and attract the attention of the cancel culture, or the trolls, or the deep state, or the religious fundamentalists, or the clowns,..... (Okay, I will mention Saturday Night Live, it probably won't last anyway)

How exactly is this racist?

A person with Asian ancestry felt insulted by the image of the chinaman. Made a big deal about it. People of color seem to be triggered by cartoons. I don't know any white men who feel like Elmer Fudd is ridiculing them, but I have met people who take images of little black Sambo personally.

Reddit's pre-covid anti-antivaxxer hysteria: Trying to nail down the time frame.

"In 1998, U.K. doctor Andrew Wakefield published a study in The Lancet suggesting that the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine could trigger autism. In the years after, MMR vaccination rates among 2-year-olds in England dropped below 80%. But the claim began to unravel in 2004 after journalist Brian Deer reported undisclosed conflicts of interest: Wakefield had applied for a patent on his own measles vaccine and had received money from a lawyer trying to sue companies making the MMR vaccine. Citing further concerns about ethics and misrepresentation, The Lancet retracted the paper in 2010. Shortly after, the United Kingdom's General Medical Council permanently pulled Wakefield's medical license. " https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/04/four-vaccine-myths-and-where-they-came

Vaccines had mercury in them, which was believed to cause autism. Congress passed legislation protecting pharma from lawsuits. Was that the early 2000s?

Question for those who think Trump will win in 2024
wendolynne 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun 3 years ago

Work with your state legislators to ensure that the problems in your state are corrected before the next election. Paper ballots, certification of voting machine software, oversight of ballots, registration and validation of voters - every weakness corrected. And realize that the result must be accepted as fair by everyone, not just Trump fans. Realize that means working with and gaining the trust of people who voted for someone else. The process has to be non-partisan to succeed.

Maybe if, instead of insightful or fun, we could rank items by the level of the pyramid they belong in. Perhaps then people would reach for higher levels. Or is it that posters confuse the words insight and incite?

Are you new to politics? Because it's been a giant puppet show for a very long time. You don't seem to see the strings on your own wrists. The oligarchs want you to destroy our country. Apparently they have your side primed to start a civil war. Over what?

WOAH! An OFFICIAL HAND RECOUNT Confirms VOTING MACHINES REMOVED 6% Of VOTES From REPUBLICANS

300 votes found. Not enough to affect New Hampshire's Electoral College vote. Thankfully we have paper ballots to prove that one voting machine malfunctioned. They corrected the count from that machine, didn't they?
