Yup. Law enforcement has never cared about protecting normal women, only wealthy white women. That’s why men who go to prison for violent offenses usually have dozens of smaller offenses prior to being incarcerated. When men assault, rape, and murder women it’s supposed to be a punishable offense. But making threats, stalking, harassing and generally wreaking havoc in women’s lives is perfectly fine for some reason...🙄

TRA’s really just don’t get sex-based oppression. To them, “woman” is just an idea or label, or a role one plays. They can’t wrap their heads around the fact that girls are socialized differently from birth, taught to be lesser, victimized more frequently/less safe, and constantly evaluated by how close they match up to superficial standards of beauty. Those things don’t happen because girls “identify” as being girls. It happens because they were born into a female body.

Hmm well I don’t know if it’s really necessary? Tossing accusations back and forth is distracting and unproductive, plus they’ll just call us “transphobic”/terf etc anyway. GC rings true for me because it logically makes sense: the goal is dismantling patriarchy and making the world more accommodating for all (including gender dysphoric folks). People who are dysphoric wouldn’t entertain the notion of transitioning if they accepted themselves the way they are.

I was also a Bernie supporter.

If the fundamental inequalities inherent in capitalism were addressed, many issues would drastically improve. That said, I do see the hazard in complacency around race, sex and able-ism. I can't align myself with the woketivist, cancel-culture left.

Agree with this so much. So many people on the left would would rather “cancel” someone than do actual work towards dismantling oppressive social structures.

I would disagree that it’s like blackface although I would say it’s a type of appropriation. Blackface had a different kind of oppressive social function. Trans people presenting themselves as the opposite gender is a lot more complicated and has different intentions behind it, as well as a different set of consequences and expectations. After all no one thought a white actor wearing blackface was actually Black.

I used to have a coworker who was a trans woman and they would tease and neg me for not wearing full makeup and flowy dresses every day like they did, as well as dole out unsolicited advice about managing PMS. I never could figure out why it made me so uncomfortable and I never talked about it for fear of being transphobic. I started peaking when people attacked JK Rowling and then when Reddit’s banwave happened, that was it. I had actually never heard of GC before the banwave, but now I’m so grateful I’ve stumbled into it. I feel like the world makes more sense now!
