you said that very well... I think most women are in denial, even radical feminists. They believe that if they just show men enough ever loving kindness, that men will eventually realize we're more than just their accessory/support animal. Not gonna happen tho. When this pattern of casually indifferent exploitation has gone on for thousands of years in every country on the planet, misogyny is not just a pattern -- it's a law of nature.

If it were a stage of emotional development tho, it would be entirely appropriate to generalize.

Honestly when you look at history, at places where fascism ran rampantly out of control, there's a subtle pattern I finally noticed. Middle age or older person trying to manipulate the masses. The majority of the population doesn't fall for it -- not until the college age kids latch on to it as a way to seem more mature than they really are, and then they popularize it.

[–]tuesday 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No, I think fascism and authoritarianism is a phase many young people go through. Usually tho, there is nothing going on in the world politically which they can latch on to so it never goes anywhere.

But when it does catch on, it always starts out with a middle aged control freak trying to manipulate the masses, but most people rightly pegs him for an idiot and ignores him -- except for the young adults looking for an outlet for their authoritarianism.

Is my theory anyway.

Honestly, that should have been enough to convince your friends, it's a reasonable counterargument. And since that doesn't convince them then I'd guess they have other subconscious motivations for not wanting to be talked out of their belief in the gender sky fairy -- I always assume their motivation is that the person is a male supremacist.

You do not have to hang out with people that you don't like. There are 8 billion people on the planet -- do you believe that you are obligated to be friends with all of them?

yes to all the other things said in this thread, except... your mom. Your mom clearly has issues of her own, and we know this just because she did not run screaming for the hills long ago when he told her that he liked dressing up/play acting as a baby. A person with healthy self esteem and healthy boundaries wouldn't have taken long to figure out that no, she's under no obligation to enable someone else's weird fetish.

So discuss this with your mom if you want, but I personally wouldn't count on her supporting your need to avoid this weirdo. I would discuss all this with your sister, because chances are better that she is equally as creeped out as you are. But even if she's not ready yet to grey rock him, you can. Grey Rock is a strategy for dealing with abusive/toxic/oddballs, and there's a ton of info on that if you search. There's no law that says you are required to interact with him just because he's in the same room.

PS why would you "dearly love" this guy? He's a creeper!!

And er... there's plenty of other places to shop, so why continue to support a business which hates women so much? The only thing these companies care about is their bottom line, so continue hitting them where it hurts!

They spent $20 million trying to recover their lost customer base by installing security cameras outside the bathrooms, and other things, but it didn't work. Most people who stopped shopping there, found other places to shop so never returned.

Hmmm I seem to be at least as old as you and I respectfully disagree with your perspective. And I too am on a special list for airports and other etc which discreetly, shall not give any further details. What does that have to do with anything? Being on a special list doesn't mean that either one of our perspectives is correct, it only means we shouted a bit too loudly into the wind.

Anyway. The right has been batshit, true. But the left has now entered the twilight zone, they adore fascism and totalitarianism with a fervor which would make Stalin and Mussolini proud. I can't see them giving that up anytime soon and it appears to be getting worse with every passing year. Republicans have never attempted to coerce people to lie about basic reality the way liberals are currently. Humans cannot change our sex, this is fundamental on the same level as denying basic laws of gravity. Once a government agrees -- as the liberals do -- that it's acceptable to code outright lies about biology into law and practice which then requires obedience, then what other lies will that government demand?

Want has to start from some personal motive. That need for power & control is an obvious fact of individual men, but I can't follow the reasoning of how such individuals could decide that the way to regain control over patriarchal values & the entire class of women is to become one.

The eunuchs have always been in charge of the harem.

It just used to be more direct. But they can't tell women what to do anymore, not the way they used to, as in a direct order "you will do as you are told little inferior woman who can't vote". So if they can no longer rely on a direct order being immediately obeyed, what else is there besides infiltrating the harem, claiming to be us and then presto, hello world here's what "women" think, now all the rest of you ladies should be nice to the other little women.

It's a very old strategy which has been updated for modern times, that's all.

Guess what? Most romance novels written in the 70's and 80's (and probably further back then that), where the woman in the novels "enjoyed" being harassed stalked and dominated, all those "bodice rippers" back in the day -- most of them were written by MEN with female pen names! Infiltrating groups of women, is what men DO. It's not an accident.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I've personally noticed that it is almost always the young who get sucked into various cults and have extreme difficulty recognizing the criteria of fascism and totalitarianism as expressed in a modern socieety. I'd like to see the schools briefly introduce the concept starting about age 10 and then every year thereafter go into more depth. So they are more prepared and inculcated against that tendency when they become older teens and young adults.

Had a man tell me feminism will fail because it doesn't include men, and it's "divisive." by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]tuesday 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

That's exactly what idiots say about racism. IE "discussions about racism doesn't include enough opinions of white people and plus, it's divisive to talk about who has power over whom and who doesn't".

The sad thing is, for many of the people who say that, they actually do believe it. They genuinely don't understand the concept of power imbalance between classes of people, or see how just being white in a society which prioritizes whiteness is a privilege. They only see problems in individuals, and of course, "he has it worse than a lot of well-off black people".

I used to get so frustrated and think, gawd these people are stupid. Now I just accept it: yes, if you were to test their IQ you'd find that they really are a bit below average. You can't use big words with these people, or fancy sociological terms. They also hate the word "racism" and "racist", those words are like pouring gasoline on a fire. With the man in the OP's example, I'd start further back, by repeatedly asking in different ways, how often does he actually listen to the people he is assuming that HE HAS THE RIGHT TO SPEAK FOR. He doesn't even realize he's doing that, so you have to start there. And of course, if you could ever get him past that part, you'd find that the only black voices he listens to, are "too angry, too blunt, too accusatory, too triggering". It never ends with these people. There's always a reason which explains why he shouldn't listen to the people HE ASSUMES HE HAS THE RIGHT TO SPEAK FOR.

It is the exact same dynamic with sexism. I personally don't have the patience to deal with them. Good luck to anybody who does!

It is always the women of any generation who do the majority of active volunteering, for any charity or social cause.

A variety of reasons, depending on the person. She might be aware that women still aren't equal so she thinks "if she can just get equality for X group then surely women will be next". Or if she thinks that women are equal enough then she might be expressing pity or kind benevolence for X group.

When it comes to trans, these women remind me of the "fag hags" of the 1980's. They clearly enjoy the testosterone, the aggressive masculine socialization of males yet perceived gay men to be "safe" for them to be around, sexually.

Last, it is worth remembering however painful this may be, that there is an average IQ in any given population -- which means half the population has an IQ below the average. Some people are just literally, quite factually, stupid. They do not reason critically, and are easy victims of propaganda. Get to them early enough and you can convince them to believe anything.

If dysphoria is really this life long permanent thing which necessitates so much money time and effort, then how come the dysphoria doesn't stick with them when they get dementia? meetup.com. Here is what I would do.

book a room at the local library to discuss cleaning techniques. That's what you tell teh library when the day come where you need a neutral physical space.

On meetup.com do not use your real name. Say you are starting a group to discuss gender critical books. Act like you are just starting the group so after enough participants have contacted you then you will all meet up somewhere. Have everyone contact you at a new email address but please, make sure the email does not sound like some stupid honey pot trolling thing. Possibly encourage everyone to get a new email for this group.

For safety, you're not meeting anybody anywhere for awhile. Send out a email (DO NOT CC EVERYONE ON THE LIST JESUS) which is like a "getting to know you" thing, no identifying info, just how they came to be gc, things like that. Then after quite a few rounds of that, invite ONLY the people who actually responded in a gc manner to the library room, once you feel safe. Do not park your car in the library parking lot, you don't want some T**F hunter following you home or getting your plate number.

Or possibly, screw the library and just meet for coffee at a food court at a local mall. I think that's a better option. There's no need to tell the food court that you're planning a small group for a meetup, it's none of their business. So there's nothing for the T**F hunters to complain about, in advance. If you park far far away from the food court, it will be easy to see who is trying to follow you. And of course, pay for your drink with cash.

I also don't think that women in privileged environments shields them in any significant capacity from gendered expectations, or are never told "women shouldn't do that".

It's a working class thing, for sure. Poor men need to do something to keep their maid madonna whore access going, so they get really down on independent women and girls. I was threatened with beatings and other coercive behavior all the time for not performing my duties as a princess, while growing up.

Think about it... men with disposable income can BUY temporary instances of maid madonna whore whenever they need, so they don't have to coerce every woman around them into playing those roles. (Which is why middle class women annoy the fuck outta me. The men you know are just as sexist but you get to pretend to yourself that they're not.) Anyway, a man without disposable income, the poor ones, he has to enforce maid madonna whore onto every woman and girl he knows, cos he needs those women and girls to perform the job for free.

[–]tuesday 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone mention this point yet.

Trans lobbyists have realized that the show 'I Am Jazz' has opened a lot of eyes and peaked too many people, the opposite of what they wanted. A reality based television show centered around a real person can't advance the trans agenda because for the average viewer, watching a real trans child deal with the obvious reinforcement of gender stereotypes by their parents and going into so much detail with all the horrific problems with a medical transition is just too much for the average person to accept.

So this time around, the trans lobby have decided to push a fictional story instead, one that is supposedly dealing with "real" issues but yet, by using actors and a script, they now get to push whatever version of their fantasy that they want.

This is a tactic, it's deliberate. We probably won't be seeing another show where they show the real problems of real transpeople.

I had found a website a while back, that had alternative options for people who were absolutely sick of the corporate privacy invasive "wokeness" found too often nowadays. They had alternative options for literally everything that could be done on the internet. Including, i think, hosting companies. Every google app etc had a better alternative. The apple could be representing something to do with Eve (a biblical reference). Idk.

The stars and planets look like they're from the 1950's. That type of design was called Atomic. So I'm guessing the card was produced in the 50's, and the apple and bird was referencing something from an even earlier time period, when feminists who were fighting for the right to vote were called suffragettes.

It also says he used his expertise as a union organiser to have female inmates moved around in the three prisons he’s been kept at.

that sentence creeped me out so much. That was the sanitized version. There's a reason he's "having specific women moved" from place to place within a prison. He's probably moving the more assertive women further away from him, while moving the more passive and easily controlled women closer to him.

It's not your job to be his mom. Your job, your only job, is to take care of you. It's one thing to have sympathy and compassion for a friend who's going through a tough time or working though difficult issues, but it's completely a different thing for a lesbian to be involved sexually with someone with a dick and to act as support human for someone who's self destructive and dragging others with them merely because you can't say no.

That's really all this amounts to. You need to practice saying no more often. Practice until it rolls off your tongue without a second's hesitation anytime someone demands that you do something that is really really awful for you. Practice until you just don't give a good god damn. Cos you actually do not need a reason to say no other than, "this doesn't work for me".

"No, this isn't working. No, we can't stay together. No, there isn't any one particular reason. No, I don't want to talk about it right now. I wish you the best, whoops look at the time, gotta run". Then ghost him. His feelings are not your job. Maintaining his emotional equilibrium is not your job. Drying his tears is not your job.

Personally, if it were me, I would not mention his dick because he'd probably have a never ending mantrantrum and sic all his flying monkey friends on you. (look up narcissism and flying monkeys if you don't know what that is). I also wouldn't be sucked into some long drawn out conversation. You do not owe him that, especially if he takes that opportunity to lay on the guilt and gas lighting. Say no, it's been fun but now it's not and it's time to move on.

And then do something nice for yourself, because saying no is hard the first few times and you should treat yourself as a reward for ejecting him from your life. You cannot move forward into the wonderful happy life that you deserve until you stop dragging the dead weight of a relationship that is over.

Happy days are ahead, look forward to that!

I admit, I have done similar. Just... fail to do my womanly duty by offering my services any time a man needs something. I also didn't smile or tilt my head!

The point where people are getting stuck is that he's disabled. If he wasn't disabled then nobody would bat an eye when she didn't open the door for him cos clearly, he's perfectly able to open the door all by himself.

But we live in a world where sexism and racism and homophobia are things which exist, oftentimes socially and institutionally set into stone; and because of that pervasiveness, many times we do need those in the more powerful group to step up and speak out and agree that a specific sexist/racist/homophobic thing is awful and needs to be changed -- yet they remain silent. They remain silent year after year, decade after decade, eon after eon. Because they just don't care.

Fuck 'em. They had their chance to be decent human beings and they've failed spectacularly.

If you want me to be nice to you, then you have to give me basic human decency first. If you're in a demographic which has denigrated me from birth onwards, failed to help rectify that in any way, and then expect me to do you a little kindness? Don't be daft. I am not man's loyal dog, content to lap up his crumbs after being left for years out in the cold and rain. When men continually place me in the box marked "madonna whore maid" then I'm not gonna do jack for men.

(edited to add. I would help him if I knew him personally, and knew him to be a decent sort.)

Inaction is one thing, but going out of your way to not do something is another thing entirely.

er, I thought the definition of "inaction" was literally "not doing anything"...? I'm confused.

It would be like not going to Walmart because there isn't one in my area and I have no reason to find one (inaction)

exactly, that's what the woman did in the given example. She had no reason to reach out her hand in order to open a door, so she didn't.

vs driving to a store that's out of the way because I'm purposely avoiding Walmart for whatever reason (going out of my way to not do something).

er, this doesn't seem right to me... A better comparison to your analogy would be, "she didn't want to open the door for the disabled man who was right in front of her but she did walk across the parking lot in order to open the door for the able-bodied woman".

The greeks had similar. Agapa was a love one had for a god, a perfect being. Eros was the lust one had for a sexual interest. Philia was brotherly love, the love between equals. Philadelphia was named after that. And the last one has recently been whitewashed all out of it's original context: Storge, the love one has for a family PET or SERVANT.

Think about it. Philia is the love has for a male. It is literally "brotherly love". Women were and are still loved as the family pet or servant.

Can I just say, i hate the expression "fig leaf". As far i am can tell, the only meaning of that term, besides referring to actual figs, is the fig leaf used by Eve to hide her vagina from Adam. But the way feminists use it, the more accurate term would be "red herring". Something used to hid that which is FAKE.

Feminists are only shooting themselves in the foot when we normalize words and phrases which at at heart, inaccurate. Trans ALWAYS find a way to use our mistakes against us.

The thing about male on female rape tho, is that he's acting out and reinforcing the idea that women exist solely to serve men. So not only is there an individual power trip going on, but also class warfare.

The second trauma doesn't occur if a woman should rape another woman. Besides that, < is extremely rare. I don't live in a constant state of anxiety waiting for the next time I'll be catcalled or sexually harassed or sexually intimidated or raped by random women. It's worth being aware that targeting prison services for trans inclusion (and by that we all know they mean women's services) isn't random. It's part of a thought out strategy to capture services with the most vulnerable women who have no voice then on the back of this 'success' sell it to the wider public sector. Attached picture is a contribution by James Morton (Scottish Trans Alliance) from the Christine Burns book Trans Britain. It lays out the strategy.

[–]tuesday 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

There are problems with requiring bottom surgery. For starters, the ethical ones. Is it really ethical to require bottom surgery when the outcomes are so incredibly poor, even with the best potential patients. The worst potential patients, won't even have enough penis tissue to make a "inverted sock" such as happened to Jazz. With other patients, like transmen, the "penis sausage" frequently rots from the inside and has to be amputated. And then there's the cost. As soon as it's required, only the well off trans can afford it, and so the poorer trans are automatically excluded. Do we make insurance pay for it? But we don't have a national health insurance program like they do in the UK, so who pays for it? And what if the trans can't afford insurance?

Do I really feel like typing out all the other problems? Just with requiring bottom surgery? Dear god.

As someone else said, the law doesn't do well with exceptions. Laws need to have a bright line written in them, or everybody from the traffic cop to the judge gets confused. So you either let them all in, or you keep them all out. And then of course, you'd have to have the "panty police" check everyone's genitalia configuration at the door to the ladies. OR take everyone's word for it. OR require every single person who is alive in america have a doctor certify that they really are a male or a female so they can show everybody the piece of paper, because the situation is that some people have already had their birth certificate and other documents amended even tho to look at them you know their sex is not what they claim and they still have their dick and they're still narcissist as hell, and those people need to stay out as well.

So many problems with "compromise"....... What is your purpose for this "compromise" and why does your "compromise" involve women giving up single sex spaces. What exactly is the trans going to give up? Do they promise to stop with the doxxing and harassment and getting women fired from their jobs and why does that look like typical predatory manipulation to me? "If you give me access to your spaces so I can oggle you while you're changing at the community pool and I can accidentally flash my dick at your six year old daughter then I'll stop er being mean to you". That is enraging, WTF.

How about this as a "compromise". I'm entitled to single sex spaces when I am getting undressed or otherwise vulnerable or when placing me in with the men such as sports or in a male dominated environment it is a given that most women are going to lose out and lose out badly. My "compromise" is that transpeople can fuck off.

You might as say to a woman who's rejected some man's badgering demands for sex, "oh honey why can't you compromise with him". You are suggesting that I should give up my basic human rights in order to be nice.

And this, is why this sub and you fucking enrage the absolute shit out of me. I am required to be polite to some rando who wants to encourage young women who are still very much stuck in the "be kind" mentality that they've been indoctrinated since birth to give up our rights to which we are entitled.

FUCKING POLITE MY ASS. How about, you remember to be polite when I ever so gently suggest that it would be a great compromise to suggest that it's now possible to conceive a quite healthy female fetus using only two eggs and no sperm, so no boy children need ever be conceived and we don't have to deal with sexism ever again because no males pretty much equals no sexism. You remember to be polite when I offer this suggestion as a "compromise".

exactly, that's why it makes so much sense to me. I think it was Jeffry Dahmer, the serial killer, who used to wear a fake cast and use crutches, in an effort to appear weak and in need of help.

You seem to be badgering her and I'm not impressed. For women, feminism isn't just an intellectual exercise. It's a way of analyzing and picking apart all the bad things which happen to us simply because we are female.

Sometimes, the bad things are perpetrated by a gay man. A lot of gay dudes are indeed misogynists, but what's worse than the overt stuff is the way some of them pretend to be "just like us" or "similar to us" and the way they demand that we never ever notice their misogyny lest they withdraw their very conditional support.

I suppose it's hurtful for a gay man to hear, particularly if they themselves wouldn't ever be like that. But there's no reason to get defensive and start badgering a woman who's in the process of trying to understand the dynamics at work.

One of my friends is a white girl and one of her friends is a TIM that is CONSTANTLY touching her inappropriately.

That's a thing that a lot of gay men do, when they are in their woman-only friendship circle. It's a way of establishing dominance. Who is allowed to touch who inappropriately, and who is not allowed to object.
