Real world programming often involves understanding the natural world, which computers today cannot do. A very small portion of my work resembles the algorithmic programming challenges on those websites. Most of the problems I solve are: Someone wants to control some real-world thing with their computer, and I have to figure out how to write software to enable them to do this. AIs do not understand the real world, so they are not coming close to being able to do this kind of work.

I got 5812104600.

If the answer is 400001 then how would you find it?

After the 2nd bulk shuffle the deck would be at the 800000th shuffle. If the answer is 400001, then the 800000th shuffle will be identical to the 399999th shuffle, so I will find the 800000th (399999th) shuffle in the precomputed table, and then this would tell me to subtract 800000 - 399999 = 400001.

Here is my code:

Ok I solved it by recognizing that the result of shuffling n times is the mapping indices to perform n shuffles. So I precomputed the first n shuffles (I used 400000 for n), and then bulk shuffled the fast way that I just described until I got a result that was in the precomputed shuffles.

This problem has no solution. The cards added to the top of the deck makes the shuffling of one size deck too different from the other. So there is no pattern that can be observed and exploited.

Of course, I am sure a Silicon Valley scum will be able to solve this by applying some bizarre mathematical trick. But knowledge of these mathematical tricks has little use in the real world.

I had a friend who was good at solving these types of problems but he a dumbass when it came to common sense. First he lost a bunch of money by investing in obscure cryptocurrencies. And when psychopaths took over my department at work he was completely oblivious to what was happening. He embraced liberalism with all his heart, and believed that those who spread disinfo about the vaccine are a threat to society.

I was the founder of the r/truecels subreddit on reddit which is effectively the community that went on to be r/incels. In the early months there was another sub called r/ForeverUnwanted which was initially more popular, but they kept banning people until it became a boring echo chamber. On r/truecels, however, women and "normies" were allowed to come and debate incels, and the incels would just verbally destroy them, so it was a more interesting sub. In the longer term r/ForeverUnwanted died off due to inactivity but r/truecels thrived.

There are no rules for posters at the moment.

The rules for moderators are:

1) No banning users unless they violate a rule, or there is some emergency reason (e.g. there is a spambot or illegal content)

2) A new rule for posters will require my consent. For something like a rule banning women, I would recommend making a post proposing the rule so we can get input from the community.

Would you agree to these?

[–]trident765 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

AI generates its are by interpolating what other artists have done, so it depends on the creativity of other artists. A good society would reward artists that contribute to society's creativity output, and not reward the artists that just plagiarize other artists. I would argue AI generated art just adds noise to the system, because it plagiarizes in a difficult to detect way. With humans combining multiple pieces is not plagiarism, because when they do this they will inevitably put their own creative spin on it, but AI purely interpolates.

This was actually one of the things that pushed me over the edge, because whether the tenant was the slut or the Chad, the fact that the tenant was having sex in modern culture means the tenant must be scum. Then I figured that since the tenant is scum, the reason they are letting their dog bark like this is probably purely because they are extremely inconsiderate. I didn't ask a question because they loved him too much and I didn't want to spoil their fun. It looks like he is going to be offered the job.

Of course all this depends on to what degree your teammates are modern scum.

I think they are non-scum, but they are naive non-scum. They have good values, write good software, but they fell for this guy who I strongly suspect has values that are contrary to theirs, because they fell for his charisma and virtue signaling (for example, he kept mentioning how he was a "proud new dad" and included photos of his infant kids in his presentation and his resume).

In the panel interview someone asked him a question similar to the question about teams, and he responded saying he prefers software development to be "dynamic" (by the way, modern scum love using vaguely defined words) and I think by this he meant that multiple people contribute to a software because afterwards he made a joke about how he gets overwhelmed when he is solely responsible for a software. One of the people on the panel who especially loved this guy said "that's great we do that here too! We each have our own projects we are responsible for, and then every once in a while we work together on the things that overlap". Basically he "corrected" the answer for him, and moved on. He didn't dig deeper, or ask him to clarify what he meant by "dynamic", because he liked his charisma so much that he was almost afraid of prying more, for fear of finding out something that would hurt his candidacy.

When I submitted my review of the candidate, I said that I was impressed by his presentation and experience, but that I felt like I knew very little about his personality, because the panel did not ask him any concrete questions about situations in the workplace, and I recommended for the next panel to ask more personality questions. Even by leaving this I felt like I was being too critical, because of how much everyone else loved him.

I think it is horrible that my teammates allowed themselves to be disarmed by this guy's public speaking skills. Just because someone is good at public speaking doesn't mean he will be a pleasant person to work with. They should have reflected on their values prior to the interview, and then asked questions to make sure the candidate's values were values that they found tolerable. But they liked his public speaking skills so they just assumed his values were good and gave him a "freebie" in that aspect of the interview.

I sat through the interview I confirm he is 100% a modern scum. He even had a psychopathic gaze, and he was charming and charismatic. All my teammates loved him. I felt bad about the idea of asking a difficult question because they loved him so much, and I didn't want to be seen as negative by being the only person to ask a negative question. So I remained silent and did not ask my question, even when I was asked. He breezed through the interview and no one asked him any difficult questions, like they asked me when I had my interview. They just assumed he was a good guy because he was charismatic. The team members were so impressed by his charisma that the interview was more about impressing him than about vetting him.

They haven't discussed him yet, but I think it is 100% settled that he will be offered the job. My teammates just loved him too much. I regret so much that I did not ask my question. I want to cry.

For me, I just started seeing prostitutes when I was 26. My last city had a booming red light district so it was easy to find prostitutes that way. Unfortunately in my current city the police crack down pretty hard on prostitution, so the scene here sucks, so I don't see prostitutes any more.

I highly recommend prostitutes if you have no chance of getting into a relationship. I felt a million times better after losing my virginity. I was becoming extremely depressed and then losing my virginity cured me. There is still something missing, but life after prostitutes is much better than life before. I felt awesome the first time, like I found the cheat code to life.

I think even repealing the age of consent altogether would be better than the current system. If she is really young, you could just try to justify in court that she was too young to consent, just by demonstrating her immaturity in front of the court rather than appealing to an age number. No need for a hard one size fits all age. If one exists, it should be an age when they definitely cannot consent - see my 3rd point in the OP.

But either way - sex of kids should be shamed and penalized and all women or rather girls should be shamed for opening legs that early.

Maybe 50 years ago what you say had some validity, but today this point is no longer valid. The fate of a woman is the same whether she loses her virginity at 15 or 18: She will be a slut. Attempting to delay the age she loses her virginity will do absolutely nothing. The only thing that matters is for a woman to remain a virgin until her wedding day, but in today's world there is a 0% chance of that happening. In any case, age of consent is not the right tool for dealing with this issue.

The question of age of consent is not about whether it is good for people that age to have sex. It's a question of "If a 12 year old girl has sex with a grown man, is it her fault or was she a victim of child abuse". I think at 12 she knows what she is doing, and if she is going to sleep around at 12 she will sleep around at 18.

Also, if you make it illegal for a 12 year old girl to have sex with grown men, boys her own age can still have sex with her. How is this any better than a grown man having sex with her?

The moving air dramatically cools the temperature,

Movement of air does not cool. Displacing the surrounding warm air does. But I have never felt that the air surrounding a hot car is especially warmer than the atmosphere.

and even opening the door lets out a lot of heat.

When someone leaves their kid/pet in a hot car, they have to open the door to get out. So it isn't any different.

One of the good things about the last place I lived in is that prostitution was relatively easy to come by. This is why I have some hope for the liberal bureaucratic hellholes of the world. They are too inefficient to enforce their complicated laws so we see robust black markets emerge. This is why I think the nonmoronic revolution might start with nonmorons moving to a major liberal city, and living symbiotically with the black market thugs.

Part of not being a moron is recognizing the limits of human intellect. It is like a dog with a shock collar. A dog does not understand how a shock collar works, but an intelligent dog can at least understand that if he stops barking he stops getting shocked. The point is that just because you don't understand the mechanism that degeneracy can trigger a volcanic eruption does not mean it doesn't exist. The Bible tells a story of how degenerate cities were destroyed by fire and brimstone. Another example is the degenerate city of Pompeii which was completely destroyed by a volcanic eruption. And today it looks like San Francisco, which is the most degenerate city in the world, has set itself up to be the next city to be destroyed in this way.

I could see this really happening at some point. Android phones already removed the "undo" feature. And deleting the backspace key is something that would be easy to justify using the sophistry tactics programmer scum already use. If anything the user did at all contributes to the problem in the smallest way, programmer will jump on it and blame the user.

Imagine you make a ticket on their online system saying there is no backspace key. They ask you what you need the backspace key for. And then after you say it is because you want to correct a typo, they close the ticket because you admitted the problem was due to user error and not due to their software.

When the modern scum took over my department at my last workplace, one of the first things the head scum did was he held a meeting where he said that from now on, for any project that anyone wants to work on that has an estimated timeframe of more than a half-day, we need to submit a written request to form a "team" for the project, which needs to be approved by him. In the meeting I asked if some "teams" might consist of only one person. Then one of the head scum's henchmen responded saying that his feeling would be no, because all work is better when done collaboratively. Then the head scum responded saying that he agrees with the henchman scum.

Then a month later, when they shut down my project, the main reason they gave was that my code was bad because it wasn't written collaboratively.

I think I thought of a good question.

Most members of my group more or less have a specific domain they are responsible. One person is responsible for software A, another for software B, etc. I think they like this model, because it gives them the opportunity to become subject matter experts in their own domain. But modern scum are absolutely revolted by this idea. They believe that instead everyone should have equal ownership of every software. So I can capitalize on this to get modern scum candidates to give an answer my group members won't like.

My question will be: "Do you prefer a model where each person is responsible for a particular software, or do you prefer a more collaborative model where everyone works together on every software". If he is a modern scum, he will say he likes the collaborative way better, and I think this will make my team mates dislike him.

But if he is a modern scum, won't he agree with all the horrible libraries he uses? Modern scum follow trends, so they will appreciate something standard for the sake of being standard. Standard means that everyone uses it.

Modern scum seem to derive extreme pleasure from being presented with features that have a very narrow set of applications. The second way may save a few characters of typing in one of the rare cases where the function only needs to be one line, which I imagine is why modern scum love it. They like the idea that there is a designated feature for writing one-line functions.

BBCode vs Markdown by fschmidt in FreedIt

[–]trident765 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Markdown can be annoying because often when you enter regular text it interprets it as formatting. For example, when I made this post, where I copy/pasted from a book:

https://old.reddit.com/r/BAYAN/comments/vsku1e/bayani_view_of_12_imams/if9qnp5/

it initially interpreted the carets (^) as superscripts, so I had to go through my post and escape them.

Also, markdown sometimes does this stupid autonumbering thing, where it changes numbers you typed into numbers that it thinks that you should have typed. For example:

I typed 3,4,5, but it renders it as 1,2,3 for some retarded reason.

With BBCode, all the automatic stuff is in tags so you won't get this annoying behavior without asking for it.

I belong to a tiny sect of Bahaism called Unitarian Bahaism, founded by Mirza Muhammad Ali in the early 1900s. It is a reaction to mainstream Bahaism becoming too authoritarian, and treating religious leaders like gods, hence the name "Unitarian" (muwahhid in Arabic), to emphasize the oneness of God, and that religious leaders are not gods. The bullet points in this post are some of the religion's principles:

Why would you build a temple?

Because the Unitarian Baha'is no existing temples, even though the writings command us to build them. Having a temple is nice just because it gives members of the religion a place to gather.

Pointless separation is one big source of complexity

I was just thinking about this the other day. It's the thing people say to sound smart. People say to keep X and Y separate because it makes them look like they had the foresight to prevent some bad thing from happening if you mix X and Y. So people are stuck maintaining this pointless separation because if they were to question it they would look like stupid people who didn't have the foresight to understand why you have to keep X and Y separate.

Yeah but you can't as easily use deforestation as a pretext to control people. The carbon emissions thing is great because it's tied to things regular people do, and it is hard to measure how one's carbon emissions impact climate. So you can force people to do things, saying that it is to prevent them from destroying the climate with carbon emissions, and it will be extremely difficult to disprove you.

For my relocation my workplace did it through a relocation assistance company, whose only job was to talk to the moving company and talk to the apartment for my temporary housing. I thought it was stupid at first that they hired a company to do just this. I had shut down a real estate business and sold the properties. I had a bank account with multiple sub-accounts, one for each property. So I went to the bank to close this. I got one cashier's check for each sub-account. My personal bank (different bank) used to allow deposits by mail but now requires an app. I tried using the app to deposit the checks but got an error that the checks are too large. My bank has no branches where I currently live. My wife called them and they said to go to a branch in some other city which basically requires a flight. So I went back to the bank that issued the cashier's checks and got them to exchange the checks for multiple checks of smaller amounts so that I can deposit them.

Something similar happened with my prescription for my glasses. I moved out of state and the optometrist (which is part of a big corporation) wouldn't mail me or email me my prescription, saying they do fax or in-person only. And since the cost of a plane ticket or a fax machine make obtaining the prescription prohibitively difficult, since they would be more than the cost of getting another eye exam done, I left them a 1-star review saying they are witholding my prescription (which is illegal). After this they called me to apologize, informing me that they would mail me my prescription, so I deleted the review. I hate that this is the world we live in, but market forces seem to no longer work, and businesses aren't willing to lift a finger to make things more convenient for their customers. The only thing anyone seems to respond to is the force of government.

[–]trident765[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I believe this is probably the verse Pastor Anderson was defending against in the video.

Pastor Anderson believes in a doctrine that says that there is a class of people called "reprobates", that are horrible people, cannot be "saved" (i.e. they will go to hell), and you become one if you hate God, and once you become a reprobate you are a reprobate permanently and there is no going back. He gets this from Romans 1. In the video he distinguishes "enemies" from "reprobates", and says even though you are required to love enemies you are not required to love reprobates. An "enemy" might be a petty criminal or perhaps a Muslim, whereas a "reprobate" would be someone like an LGBT rights activist. Pastor Anderson believes all gays are reprobates, which is his explanation for why gay conversion therapy does not work. He believes hatred of God is what triggers homosexual urges.

[–]trident765 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

But no one uses this definition of "Holocaust". The real definition of Holocaust that society accepts is that 6,000,000 or more Jews were killed by Nazis. Those who believe 5,999,999 or less died are holocaust deniers.

But I personally believe that the German government killed Jews in WWII. I have distant relatives who were killed in similar circumstances so I know governments are capable of doing this. But Jews also claim that they were persecuted far worse than any other minority in history, which I am not certain about. From what I read the Armenian genocide was as bad or almost as bad as the Holocaust, but it doesn't seem that way to the average person since Armenians do not complain nearly as much as Jews.
