“I cut off my arm last year and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.” HuffPo pushes “empowering” elective limb amputation … by [deleted] in USnews

[–]tiny-brown-mug 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I spent six years living with an arm that had zero motor function from the elbow to the fingertips after I was injured in a Vespa accident. Picture one of those inflatable T. rex costumes: The person wearing it knows the tail is there, but they keep knocking drinks over and tripping people nonetheless. When you’re aware of something but have absolutely no control over what it does, it’s time to Marie Kondo it. I had no guarantee life would be better as an amputee than it was with a paralyzed arm, but knew it was time to part with my arm as it sparked no joy...

This year, my left arm actually started growing back. “Like a lizard?” I asked my doctor, borderline excited that I really might be part T. rex. No, not exactly, it turns out. While I won’t regrow an elbow, forearm or hand, my arm bone has virtually rebuilt itself. My humerus is now visible just beneath the skin ― about an inch and a half past where it ended a year ago. The pain I’m experiencing is somewhat akin to what I imagine Harry Potter must have felt after his professor made the bones in his arm disappear and he had to regrow them. Every morning I wake up and look down to see if there’s a hand or if the bone has finally made its way past the wispy layer keeping it in. Thankfully, it hasn’t ― I’ve gotten too used to my freedom, range of motion, and half-priced manicures. So, in light of this ironic setback, come Friday, I’ll be having my left arm cut off again. And I couldn’t be happier about it.

I really don't agree with this. Derek Chauvin could have and should have eased up on Floyd, but going after all the other cops is just stupid and cruel. I also feel like manslaughter would have been a better sentence for Chauvin.

They're basically going to throw every single officer in jail simply for being there and following protocol.

I don't agree with this. If police are going to be jailed because their superior was too rough on someone and they were at the scene, we're going to have a mass exodus of cops, and a lot of officers just refusing to show up and do anything if called to a scene.

Again, this is due to strong storms, erosion, flooding, and the changing sand-scape of the islands. The sea levels are not rising; the islands are being eroded away due to intense storms and tidal shifts.

Now, everything is lumped together as "climate change", and folks sometimes confuse this with "rising sea levels" and "global warming", though these are separate theoretical phenomenon. What we are seeing here is what we see on Cape Cod. Shifting sands, and sand bars, and even islands, disappearing into the ocean as storms blow through and the pathways taken by the tide shift accordingly. The sea level is not rising, though land is vanishing; however in other places, the same weather patterns can cause new land to form.

I find it very weird that the West demands that everyone be able to vote and promotes "Democracy" all over the world, but when an ethnic group or nation holds a vote to decide something that they don't like, they spazz and label it "invalid". Ok. Are you sure, though? Are you sure? Because you're also telling me that Biden won the last election. It seems premature to be absolutely sure that these people don't want to be part of Russia. Many of them are, after all, ethnic Russians.

Even if you feel that these votes and the referendums are a total sham, what matters is that Russia sees it as valid. Attack or attempt to re-take these states, and get nuked. We better take Putin seriously. Because antagonizing him, demonizing him, sanctioning him, and refusing to work with him on anything hasn't gone well for anyone.

The complete lack and essential black-out of any ability to understand things from the Russian side has me very unsure of how to approach this war. I'm not saying Putin is a hero, but I'm not sure he's a bad guy, either. He sounds like a strong, patriotic man who cares about Russians. This war, at least from his point of view, was about saving ethnic Russians living in Ukraine from abuse. Those claims have not been very well examined by the Western media. There's no balance.

I wondered about this. I remember reading a very weird article in early 2021. A 19-year-old girl was having trouble with Covid (some breathing issues), and her mother brought her to the hospital. Once there, she was put on oxygen, and then the hospital decided to put her (the daughter) on a ventilator. The daughter was screaming and crying in terror at the thought of being on a ventilator as she saw this as an indication that she would not recover. The 19-year-old girl was put on a ventilator, and died.

Ok, now... most 19-year-olds can recover just fine from Covid. This girl may have had complications which made her very sick, but still. If she was screaming and crying at the thought of being put on a ventilator, did she really need a ventilator? And why did she die after being put on one? Shouldn't that have helped her?

The whole article was just incredibly messed up.

Something I've always kind of wanted is a platform that combined social-media like functions with e-mail. So that it's less of a visual over-load, and keeps a lot of the communications as dms / e-mail. Or, maybe, and e-mail that allowed you to use it more like FB, only private. Just wondering.

Looking at her Twitter posts, I have a hard time believing that a lot of this is real.

"I went on a first date last night. At the restaurant, he ordered a domestic beer and a steak. I grabbed the bottle of wine I ordered and left immediately."

"Went on a date last night and the guy was mansplaining, an alpha male power move. It reeked of small dick energy so I got up and left."

"Went on a blind date last night, we met at a coffee shop. He ordered his coffee black. I got up and left. Sure sign of a wannabe alpha male who lives at home."

CNN Confirms Biden Took Classified Documents Relating To Ukraine During Final Days Of Obama Administration by EternalSunset in news

[–]tiny-brown-mug 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I have a question. Is Biden hiding something in Ukraine? Because he seems to be absolutely obsessed with that country, and he's spending billions to make sure Russia doesn't take it over. China forcefully took back Hong Kong, we didn't care. India took back Kashmir, we didn't care. Israel keeps chipping away into parts of Syria, and we don't care.

Why is he so obsessed with Ukraine? What's he hiding over there?

Do you guys think all the people who got vaccines are going to die? by [deleted] in AskSaidIt

[–]tiny-brown-mug 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I think most people will be ok. Those who, sadly, seem to be dying in large numbers are young, healthy athletes. Which is especially maddening, as young healthy people were least likely to die of Covid and really didn't need these darn shots. Most people I know who got them seem fine. I know of two vaccine injuries and a possible third, and all of them are pretty messed up. Migraines that never go away, dizzy spells, symptoms that mimic MS, etc. Sheesh.

I'm glad you seem to be ok, though. Just go easy on yourself. The less active a person is, the better chances they seem to have of not experiencing weird problems later.

This poor girl. 18 flipping years old. This is ridiculous. I hope someday, the vaccine manufacturers pay surviving family and victims something.

The lesson seems to be, if you have the injections, don't move around too much. Don't be too active. Take it easy, and you might live longer.

Bill Introduced to Eliminate Private Land Use Restrictions on Amateur Radio ~ Should people in "the land of the free" be allowed to freely communicate? To attach an antenna to their own homes? by In-the-clouds in DecentralizeAllThings

[–]tiny-brown-mug 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I think this is a good thing. Being better able to communicate in emergencies or about emergencies is good, and radio can be a great way to alleviate loneliness, meet people, and just connect to something interesting and fun.

I have noticed this intense desire for the government to curate, select, and crack down on all forms of information and communication over the last 15 or so years, and it's getting out of control. I think loosening the tether a bit would be helpful.

[–]tiny-brown-mug 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Yep. I think a lot of people are just trying to convince themselves that getting another man to raise a kid who's not his own is 100% normal. And that no guy should ever get to opt out of this. These women can't make it work with the biological father, don't want to get married, and break up. That failed relationship is not another man's fault. Neither is the woman's choice to have a child.

I feel bad for the kid who's stuck in the middle, but I don't see how it's wrong for this guy to say "no, thank you". I've also noticed the responses on AITA getting really savage, unforgiving, and one-sided. Children are allowed to set up boundaries with abusive parents, but parents can't say "no" or "not right now" to an abusive or irresponsible grown child. Women can say no to men, but men can't say no to women.

I don't see anything wrong with this. He doesn't want to get involved with a woman who has a kid. She reached out to him once she and her long-term boyfriend split. They had a kid together, never married, and they broke up. This guy doesn't want to catch up. He senses that she wants something from him, and he's probably right. She's possibly looking for a man to help raise her kid, and it's odd that she's only wanting to catch up now.

NTA. The kid's obviously not luggage, and this isn't the kid's fault at all, but I can understand the guy's hesitation to have anything to do with this woman. She knew all the guys found her cute, now she's trying to cash in on her cuteness to reel this guy in. If you weren't good enough for her back then, you should realize she's wanting something. Run, dude.

It always amazes me how soluble "science" is. We're sure we know something, everybody tells us it's so, then we discover that this was not the case.

I'm experimenting with herbs as medicine right now. I know a guy who's treating a likely vaccine injury with Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs, and so far, so good. Karela powder (bitter gourd powder) seems to be helping clean out the blood and reduce inflammation. He's also using reishi and mint powder. Puts all three in hot coffee every morning, and it seems to be working.

Hey, SoCo. I know a guy who's having some success treating a vaccine injury with herbal stuff. I don't know if this will work for you or for anyone else, but he's using a mix of reishi mushroom powder, karela (bitter Indian gourd) powder, and mint powder in hot coffee every morning. It seems to be helping.

Karela powder seems to be really good at removing impurities from the blood, and improving cardiovascular health. It might help you. Same for anyone else on these forums having issues.

"From Moscow's point of view, a signal of Ukraine's 'seriousness' about talks would likely hinge on Kiev's willingness to compromise on territorial concessions, especially regarding the Donbas in the east. Additionally the Ukrainians would likely have to acknowledge Russian control over the Crimea. "

That is extremely reasonable. Russia moves out of everything else that it invaded / annexed, and gets the Donbas and Crimea. That makes total sense.

I think it would also be interesting to note whether the ordinary people of Ukraine mind giving up the eastern provinces, so long as it ends the war. Or would they rather keep fighting, too? It's weird that Zelensky is the only human being, just about, allowed to speak for Ukraine. Or, those loyal to him and within his own government. Apparently, no other Ukrainian national is allowed to speak for Ukraine.

I don't trust Ukrainian propaganda anymore than I trust Russian or American. These are all carefully curated, pro-Zelensky news stories and articles. Is there likely some truth there? Probably!

But what I would prefer to read are thoughts from citizens, not bots, Zelensky-approved journalists, or official sources. We all know how messed up "official American news" can be. I don't think other countries are necessarily going to be more honest than us.

Are they ok with fighting forever? Are they wanting peace? We hear from Zelensky 100% of the time, but we don't hear as much from everyday civilians.

My theory? They're real, but they're not extra-terrestrial. It is, in fact, bartered Nazi technology. "You guys give us the specs for your cool, weird planes, and we'll let you go slip away into Argentina".

The US Military (and perhaps others, too) have been tweaking these, improving on the tech, and flying them around for decades. This would explain the sudden, massive surge in UFO sightings post-WWII.
