Looking for new good lesbian shows, movies or books by [deleted] in Lesbians

Book recs! Most my books are in storage atm and seriously blanking so I’ll just throw out my three most recent reads:

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon- some feminist themes in a fantasy setting with dragons and politics, it’s not perfect but most everyone I know into lesbian fiction, not that it is strictly classified as such, has read and gushed over it at some point since it came out(also, this thing is over 800 pages, a good time suck)

Compass Rose By Anna Burke- dystopian future, high seas, pirates, politics and lesbians

Under a Falling Star by Jae- an easy, fun read about a modern office romance, fluff and drama included, with a “falling for someone you shouldn’t” trope, among others but that’s what makes it a fun read

Huh, personally I prefer much taller women. It doesn’t feel particularly heterosexual when her breasts are right around my eyeline. 👀

I can cuddle a little in sleep but I need the room to be an ice box as I’m not about being sweaty, in a non-sexual context, in bed.

What if you mix it before you spread it? I like even distribution.

Agreed, besides, what’s the harm? A couple straight girls maybe get hit on by women? The odds still seem to be in my favor that if she’s rugged and outdoorsy, has hair on her legs and sports a snapback then she’s probably a lesbian. I may be a little heartbroken if I meet such a woman and she’s straight, but hasn’t happened yet and I’m fine with taking the chance.

Just because men of lower stature are treated poorly by men of higher stature doesn’t mean society don’t hate women, which is what you’re arguing. Your argument is of wealth vs. poverty but this is about sex.

Your study isn’t specific to this issue either. You specifically were talking about being called a TERF/transphobe. Considering the original use of TERF meant only women could be one as it was talking about radical feminist women who didn’t want men, no matter identity, in their feminism, I can assure you that far more women have been called it.

People being nice to attractive women doesn’t mean society loves women, ffs. Especially as they’re only nice so far as they think they have a chance with them and the woman does as they expect. It doesn’t mean they actually like or respect women, attractive or not.

Then you’re reading studies rather than just looking at the entirety of history rife with examples that show the contrary.

Regardless, no one said other people don’t get called those things but it’s definitely more women than men.

“Came out” to my parents by tacticaldyke in Lesbians

Thanks, I knew they’d be. Hell, my mother has told me “I’d love all my children no matter their sexuality!” pointedly so many times I’ve lost count, so wasn’t super concerned there but just opening up enough to say it is a relief. I’ve been working on being more open in general so this is a big step for me.

And, in regard to the weight, yeah. It’s so weird how much intangible things can create a sensation of physical weight on us. Stress like that just ain’t healthy! Pairing this with my move, which also comes with a promotion, feels amazing. Despite the shit show this year has been on a global scale, I feel optimistic.

Good luck! Though you also reminded me that, funnily enough, they actually met all of my HS girlfriends but it was always “as a friend.” Feels different as an adult to be playing those kind of games though so I’m happy to finally be able to not continue to “lie by omission” when they ask what I’ve been up to(I’d be like “I went to the beach and saw X, Y, Z” but leave out it was on a date and things like that, ugh).

Do you collect things? by [deleted] in Lesbians

All types of animal skulls and bones. Some I’ve bought(non-native or from other collectors, always look for ethical sellers), some I’ve found in nature, and some I’ve collected from processing found remains.

I mostly just clean up those that need it and display them(though I’ve been toying with branching out into painting some though every time I get a new one in a species I already have I find something unique or endearing to me about it and don’t want to change it, lol.) Sometimes I use them for art reference or in photography. I have a few I just like pondering over, ex. they have injuries that showed up in their bones and I’ll study them and speculate about what caused it. Those are my favorites, though I always hope they didn’t suffer, as they’re a bit unique. Granted, all skulls/bones are one-of-a-kind if you think about it.

Bones and books. I also have a bit of art that I’ve been amassing for when I have the space to properly show it off. Bit of a geek so some of it’s fan art of my favorite characters mixed with prints of classics and original works.

Any TV show/series recommendations with lesbian characters? by [deleted] in Lesbians

If you’re into animation at all the new She-Ra(main and side characters) and The Dragon Prince(side characters) both have good lesbian characters.

A lot of them really seem to push that narrative. It’s truly deceitful and harmful not just to others but themselves as well the way they hide the reality of it.
