Is socks stupid? by Gravi in AskSaidIt

Probably not the worst, but it's hard to pick sometimes, so I largely agree with this. On the Leary quadrants, a socks personality falls into "I'm not okay, you're not okay." That's a dangerous personality, truly. A nihilist with a death wish that wants to bring others down with them, punishment doesn't even work.

Additionally...and this is a little unnerving, I'm not even sure if the socks accounts here really are socks. I've met more than one person with this type of personality, so I could be wrong, but there's a chance that there's more than one person behind the keyboard of every socks account. I'm serious.

Lol, I kinda agree with him. In the bigger picture, while the pyramid of debate is fine in and of itself, when a dishonest individual argues in bad faith they usually never state their main point up front. It's something that really bugs me, motte and bailey bullshit. Whenever I've found myself falling for it in the past I ended up at the contradiction phase....THAT'S RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, right off the bat, without even noticing until the frustration sets in. I'm merely contradicting them thinking I'm refuting the main point, not because I'm dishonest myself but because I thought I was refuting their main point even though they never stated it in the first place.

Yeah, the usual suspects around here can go fuck themselves, I blocked them. That pervasive, pernicious and systemic dishonesty makes me sick.

I looked into "badbios" and it really does seem like black pill meets histrionic personality disorder. There are things like it in the wild; things that infect computers at the hardware level, things that use radio/bluetooth/sound to jump air gaps. There are proof of concepts sure, but you're giving the deep state too much credit here.

I'll be sure to get a router that functions transparently, and a very good packet sniffer. It's not a sunk cost mindset or anything, all I can do is adopt a mitigation strategy...and they do work.

I think there are a few. There's bitview.net, and vidlii.com which look pretty close to old youtube. I don't know if they lack old features or what, all I know is that branding is essentially magick and youtube still has brand power. On a related note, that also seems to be the reason that better things don't always replace inferior iterations of the principle, the thing to be replaced has to suck mega-ass too.

There are workarounds for the IME with the "vendor's privilege", and the PSP wasn't anywhere near to being that terrible. But what I am worried about now is this thing from microsoft called "pluton". Look that up! I am seriously fucking pissed off with this, it's enough to make me ditch x86 and go with Open Power (PowerPC).

God damn it, I was going to go with an APU and use the onboard graphics with a workstation gpu. AMD seems to be on the pluton train too. Fuck, just fuck. Luke makes a good point, but as someone who feels the way he does about technology, it's probably easy for him to feel this way. Old won't cut it forever.

It seems like critical thinking isn't something that is taught, rather learned. I'm not joking when I say this; I've done this by accident many times before. A moment of clarity perhaps? It's hard to consider another point of view, but not impossible.

One way I think you can learn critical thinking, and this is what I'm doing is by doing critical reading. Dan Kurland has a website dedicated to the subject of critical reading. Anyway, if you can do that, I guess it's all about what you read. Hopefully you get a kind of proto critical thinking ability from that, and develop it through out your life.

My history with online interaction was on the gamefaqs forum, so I got used to censorship from the very beginning. However, I also learned how to circumvent it, and ultimately wind up in places with less of it, such as 4chan.

Even though I did wind up on myspace, my 'community' there overlapped with others such as somethingawful, and break. Yeah, it's kinda like who you grew up with. They either grew up, died, or moved on in some other way. Those times....I miss them a lot. Sure, there was some bad with the good, but mostly, it just was.

Am I the only one here that isn't bothered by the whole non-binary thing? The only thing that bothered me were the ones using trans identity and victimhood as a club to beat people with. I swear, I'm too damn live-and-let-live for my own good it seems.

As a victim of various things, I agree. It doesn't feel good being a victim, and it's not a damn superpower!

Interestingly, it seems taking the opposite position is the edgy thing these days. Seriously, this isn't the late 80's/early 90's anymore. I do something really powerful when I see this crap, I roll my eyes and walk away.

Antithesis: Zero is, in fact the unit of mathematics. Example: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc....

Disclaimer: Honestly this is just a strong opinion of mine, however I do believe that this mindset is better for counting.
