So Ellen Page is transgender and now goes by the name Elliot? As they say in Hollywood, "You gotta have a gimmick!"

The guy being accused should go into that committee meeting and say he is a transwoman or even a transbian, whatever identity he needs to take on to win the Oppression Olympics. That's the only way I see him winning this thing.

Pretty much 99.9% of people are "TERFS" by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]sallytomato 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Beyond places like twitter and reddit, in real life, the majority of the world's population would be considered "TERFS". Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of that because they dominate so many social media spaces and their mob mentality forces so many who disagree with them to stay silent.

Thank you for taking a brave stand, Tulsi. It's a shame that MSM gave her so little attention during the Dem primary. I look forward to seeing what she will do with her career.

[–]sallytomato 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'll preface my comment by saying that I am politically homeless in the US as I lean to the left of Democrats and am tired of their identity politics pandering. Definitely not conservative. Anyway, prior to 2014 I remember having no real opinion on trans people or trans rights. Then the bathroom debates came and I thought, "Who cares? Let them use whatever bathroom they feel comfortable in." I started becoming gender critical in 2015 after the appearance of Caitlin Jenner. Especially after Glamour Magazine named Caitlin "Woman of the Year." I'm just a very logical person and the more you dive into trans theory the more illogical things sound. Soon everyone was loudly proclaiming they were a trans ally and now I was supposed to say I was a cisgender female (not just a female) and I needed to tell people my preferred pronouns. I felt like the only sober person at a party full of drunks.

That was amazing. I lost it at the miscarriage and the empty blue womb because that was me just a few months ago. Our complicated relationship with our bodies as we age was depicted in such a realistic way. Great job, Bodyform.

One of the posters claims the poll is "a complete disregard for the large number of people who identify as neither male nor female." Large number?! Okaaay. Just because you say it enough times doesn't make it true. Non-binary people make up less than 1% of the population. Hardly a number anyone would call large.

I'm anti-idpol and choose to distance myself from people who are into identity politics, this solves most of my problems. Besides this forum, people over at r/stupidpol are GC for the most part. And you definitely wont get kicked out for saying something GC. As far as making friends in real life, foreign-born Americans tend to be GC though they won't use the term because most have never even heard of it; but talk to them about the "girls" winning all the track meets in Connecticut or explain to them what the cotton ceiling is and you'll definitely hear some GC opinions from them. ETA: s/LGBdroptheT is also GC.

[–]sallytomato 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I remember there was an episode on MTV's True Life about two people that wanted to detransition. Must have been around 10 years ago, I doubt they would show it now. One was a transwoman the other a transman. The transwoman transitioned back to being a gay male. I don't remember about the transman only that they were previously a lesbian and when they transitioned their girlfriend stayed with them. I remember thinking how awkward that must have been for the lesbian girlfriend.

I'm hoping this will be the wakeup call to shitlibs to re-examine their stance on transgenderism. This is a mental illness and needs to be treated as such. From the little we know about the shooter, this was a deeply unhappy person. The whole world cannot change to affirm your delusions.

On a related note, I am slightly amused at media for "deadnaming" this person and not using the preferred pronouns of he/them. Pretty much solidifies even they don't believe their own b.s. talking points: So let me get this right, a trans woman is a woman and a trans man is also woman? Basically, we have two categories now: men and non-men.

The transmen have almost always been pretty low key; they mostly just do their work and participate when required. The transwomen are something else, self-centered, demanding, abrasive at times, and always bringing the drama. By the end of the semester most of the other students (approx 80% are bio females) are polite but definitely stay out of the way of the transwomen students, even the ones that came across as trying to be allies in the beginning. A semester full of nonsense can do that to you. Most of the bio female students come across as being uncomfortable around them (especially when they feel the need to bring up their trans status) but don't want to offend.

It's interesting that there was that one piece about a neo-nazi becoming a trans woman. In Silence of the Lambs Buffalo Bill used to be a neo-nazi (it's alluded to by his swastika bedspread and it's mentioned in the DVD audio commentary) before he decided to try to become a woman. As Hannibal Lector says Buffalo Bill doesn't actually have gender dysphoria, he is just so deeply unhappy with his life (because of years of abuse and torment) that he's tried on different personas including a neo-nazi and a trans woman.

Last year I was passing through a neighborhood that has had some issues between African Americans and the Afro-Latinos who reside there. In an effort to east tensions, someone put up a street mural stating "LATINX SON NEGROS". The irony of them forgetting to x out the o in "negros" was apparently lost on them.

On another note, "Woke" people from Latin American countries have been using Latine as a gender neutral term. It's a term that can actually be pronounced in Spanish and created from within the community, so why not use this term instead? Whenever I bring that up on social media, I hear crickets from the "Latinx" crowd.

My issue with this whole thing is if trans women are women and trans men are men then why the need for the X? If there's no difference between them and biological men and women then why do they need special words to be "inclusive"?

Wow. Just wow. The fact that Brandon Teena had not started HRT or had SRS means it was not that far-fetched to cast Hilary Swank in the role. There's also a very good resemblance between Brandon and Hilary. And why is the director's race relevant? Brandon was also white. Peirce puts the spotlight on a trans person's life in a way that had not really been seen before this film came out and now is being accused of profiting off of trans people? Even worse! There are even less people in the US who identify as non-binary, something like .5%. What percentage of that .5% are even Latinos? So we need to change the term Latinos to satisfy maybe 10% of .5% of people?! Maybe we shouldn't say terms like "high five" because of the small amount of people with six or more fingers. These people make my head hurt.
