Femininity is... a coozy blanket and warm hot chocolate by [deleted] in GenderCritical

The hilarious thing is I’m pretty sure women are targeted with that imagery because we have less time to just relax. We’re the ones doing more of the housework and childcare, usually on top of a job outside the home, and are expected to spend a lot more time on personal grooming to just meet a basic standard. So the idea that the feminine way to spend a typical evening is curled up with hot cocoa and a warm blanket is hilarious. Women are wiping snotty noses and scrubbing dishes and shaving their freaking legs. These guys just want to be coddled and told they can take it even easier than they already do, which they think is what femininity is.

Wasn’t this the one where they asked women if they were excited by putting on lingerie before a date or something and then took that to mean women are turned on by the idea of themselves as women, instead of the obvious interpretation of women being excited about the prospect of sex with their date later that night?

I don’t think the problem is democracy. The problem is our access to reliable information that shows us things we need to know. Traditional news media is struggling but still does what it can (with obvious exceptions), on a much smaller scale than in the past. But social media is being used as a propaganda tool with spectacular success and most people have no idea. Every person who hates politics is getting bombarded with what seems like just a funny meme about this crazy old man who may be a pedophile, and suddenly after a few of those they pick up (without even noticing it) the smears the Republican Party wants to attach to Biden—while still feeling like they aren’t getting into politics. Between the funny dogs and cute babies you scroll through on your feed during a work break, your feelings about issues you haven’t even looked into are being nudged, constantly.

I’m not even sure a healthy enough democracy would resist this much better—you’d need elected politicians who are very capable of digging into tech issues and understanding them enough to start regulating social media platforms for how they choose to present content and their advertising standards.

Do you think the trans rights vs women’s rights conflict is the biggest threat to women with a conservative SC? More importantly, do you think women’s rights are the biggest vulnerability for any of us with a conservative SC steered by THIS president and his enablers? Jesus. It’s like hearing your kids fretting over whether or not bedroom assignments are fair in a house that’s actively burning down. Our country can’t survive another 4 years of looting, corruption, exploitation, and death, and the last hope for ensuring our votes even count just fell.

Cuties: An Uncomfortably Honest Review by slushpilot in GenderCritical

He did a pretty good job of covering all of that actually. Ended up watching the entire review because he was making mostly good points but then saying kind of horrifying things and I wanted to watch it all to see if he was like, intentionally demonstrating the discomfort of watching the movie or just being too honest and horrible. So if anyone wants to stop watching the review early on because he seems awful—he’s aware it’s awful and mentions it as part of the dynamic of the movie. How uncomfortable it is to see young girls sexualized, how society isn’t comfortable with sexuality in young girls, how every society oppresses women in its own way. Mentions how the main character doesn’t really have any mentor to help her navigate everything, everyone either wants to exploit or disapprove of young girls. Etc.

The actual lesbians appear to have left the building. And who can blame them? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

I didn’t mean an app or anything like that, just like actual humans providing a matchmaking service. Where they find out what you’re looking for, get a sense of your personality, etc, and then connect people who seem likely to be compatible/have good chemistry. Like Patti Stanger without the tragically pragmatic sexism or wealthy douchebag clients (or reality show). Just cutting algorithms out of the picture and doing actual human work finding women who would be interested and organizing invitation only events focusing on people who have things in common and/or are likely to be interested in each other.

Open apps etc will always attract a hundred TiMs for every normal woman just looking for other women. I don’t think tech is ever going to do anything to help women who refuse to sleep with males.

There’s probably money to be made in a solid, discrete matchmaking service for lesbians at this point. Like, let a third party (run by women who prioritize happy clients over woke points) screen everyone. You don’t have to explain why you didn’t have pity dates with TiMs, since a lot of the decision making is on someone else (who knows what the word “lesbian” means).

I read everything I could find about it and couldn’t find it credible. She’d been super anti-Putin, then had some tweet that made it sound like she’d been there, then abruptly started tweeting about how sexy Putin is for the next year or two (I forget). Published articles that came out in Russian before the English versions even though she just mentioned trying to learn a bit before it. She’s praised Biden’s commitment to women consistently in the past until this. Her initial claim was that what happened with him wasn’t sexual (her own words) but then she came out with a very sexual accusation. Every article I’ve seen where former coworkers were tracked down failed to find it credible—the claimed location was busy with constant foot traffic and nowhere private. She claimed he often asked her to work fundraisers in an objectifying way but multiple former staffers directly contradicted that—said Biden made a point of never putting women in a position that could even seem like that. (I’m phrasing horribly because it’s been a thousand years since I read about it, but I’ll reply with links in a sec.) I think her brother and a friend were the only ones who remembered her mentioning the assault at the time except her brother’s first response didn’t include anything about being sexually assaulted—he called back after to add that part.

I don’t know what happened to her. I’m not going to question whether she was assaulted but no matter how hard I looked into the details I couldn’t find any reasonable way to trust the story she told. I hope she’s okay and that the weird Russian propaganda phase was just a bizarre personal choice, but this is 2020 and shit like that is unsettling. The whole thing was a mess.

I mean, he also leaves many political positions unfilled and selects people for positions based on what personally benefits him, so there’s no reason to think kids would be defended under Trump no matter what happened. The news today has reports of him being blatantly anti-military, with zero repercussions. Nothing is sacred to him and he’s only out for himself. Biden may be hitched to the wagon of the TWAW camp but he’s a compassionate person who won’t readily dismiss the suffering of families when this finally peaks, IMO. I trust Kamala to hear things out more than the average democratic politician, too.

I saw one once. They said they started hormones early enough for their hips to widen—I don’t know if that’s a thing or maybe they just had slightly wider hips to start and hormones boosted the look with fat distribution. They posted a video and spoke to show their voice. Zero AGP vibes so probably HSTS.

I haven’t really seen anyone else even close to that level though.

Edit: I went looking for it and can’t find it anywhere, so, it’s also possible that was an actual female human posted to give unrealistic hope to others. But if they did pass that well they’d probably want to delete everything.

Everyone on the trans rights side is selling this bullshit (“dating is so easy!”). And when they realize no one is interested, they’re sold the idea that they just need the next surgery to solve everything. And once surgeons have milked every penny they can, those same trans rights activists don’t bother to check in on them for the suicide rates AFTER everything is done. They’re thrown away even by the camp supposedly fighting for them.

I understand people not feeling sympathy but remember: no one is offering REAL mental health services to trans people. It’s affirmation only with a good shove down the pipeline and once you reach the end of the line, no one even answers your calls anymore. They’re being failed by everyone meant to help them.

He’s warning other people that they’re being lied to about the reality of dating as a trans woman, which is an attempt to help people who haven’t gone too far yet. Incels encourage each other to go further and further with the misery and hate.

This video was incredibly tragic IMO. So many people try to pretend it’s super easy to date while trans and most people won’t really see how isolated they are until they’ve done extreme things to their bodies. Because for a long time they’ll believe it’s just because they need facial surgery or more time on estrogen. Some decide they just need bottom surgery to fix it. And when when they’re still alone after, they’re stuck with the reality that they’ll never have a normal romantic life again.

Anything and everything can be justified if men just claim it helps their dysphoria. We can’t question why a man wants to risk diaper rash and chafing on his junk just to get one of the least pleasant sensations of being female—we just have to take their word for it that the most ridiculous, fetishy behaviors are absolutely crucial for their mental wellbeing.

This is really interesting, thanks! I’m a female sexual masochist (who mostly just avoids that shit because respect is more important than getting off). The difference between the male masochist description here and my life is kind of hilarious. I have even less tolerance for abusive behavior than the women I’m close to because power dynamics stand out a ton for me. The whole “choking/harming themselves in private to get off” must be a testosterone or sex addict thing, it sounds utterly insane to me.

I get what you’re saying but we’re trying to reclaim the right to label reality accurately without being punished for not using nice friendly lies. Personally I was sold on singular “they” back in high school when it was too awkward writing without it, so I default to that if I can’t bring myself to use someone’s pronouns (and I don’t have an issue using inaccurate, preferred pronouns sometimes for trans people who don’t behave like their birth sex). I’m pretty sure Buck Angel has bigger issues in life than what pronouns GC feminists use, and it isn’t an irrelevant detail that one of the “good ones” was born female. Our fight is very much a defense against the demands of natal males, and you can’t say it costs us nothing if we’re forced to obscure that detail.

Add in how many kids are referred for hormones and “totally reversible!” Lupron, and you might just end up with a dropping birth rate when those kids are grown—not as severe as in Handmaid’s Tale, but probably noticeable. So yeah, I’ve had this thought too watching THT. And that at some point they’ll probably start guilting people into surrogacy as our duty as allies validating their identities as women. Sigh.

It wasn’t my first peak but one of the most chilling later-peak moments was watching videos of the protests against Megan Murphy and Jenn Smith. Anyway, the crowds protesting were full of the most cringey infuriating men I’ve seen outside of a Trump rally. Honestly might’ve surpassed that even. Smug, threatening, neck muscles bulging from screaming testosterone in a 6ft package.. Nothing inspiring or brave to be seen in the protesting crowds, just men shouting hate at women who wanted to talk amongst themselves, and doing everything in their power to silence an actual trans person who doesn’t buy their bullshit.

It was the creepiest cult vibe I’ve seen from a protest.

Edited after I found his name.

I think a fair amount of it is also that white men are used to getting away with a lot of shit that anyone else would be punished for. When you put white men in dresses and give them the appearance of a virtuous cause that protects persecuted minorities, they get away with even more. And the fact that what they’re doing is treated as normal (“girldick,” cancelling JK) sort of creates an Emperor’s New Clothes situation where everyone looking at the situation assumes they must be transphobic for not getting it, and tries to self correct enough to avoid the wrath of the mob.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to say women should alter their biology to avoid being transphobic, because female bodies functioning naturally doesn’t validate trans people. (They obviously wouldn’t ask anything of males, though, because men would say no and everyone would agree it was too much to ask.)

[–]ruskiix 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

GC feminists believe “woman” is simply the word for an adult human female, nothing more. Your question about gender being binary is a bit confusing—did you read the post? Gender is the tool used to oppress males and females based on the stereotypes for their sex, and nothing more. We don’t believe in an inherent gender essence, everything outside of gender stereotypes (which are binary in our society, of course) would simply be individual personality. We don’t use “gender” to describe the nature of a person.

Could you explain what you mean by constructivist in this context?
