/r/worldnews/, /r/news/, /r/NeutralNews/ have "not older than a week" rule - pretty reasonable, imho.

He sometimes submits legit news though (I mean a day or so old), but mostly very old, yeah.

Make a sub /s/OldNews and submit them there - these are legit stories, but they are not news anymore.

It just looks like a not good faith effort: author allegedly created two sockpuppets and upvoted himself, also inserted loaded words which would obviously not go well with left-wing raddle crowd: "SJWs"/"Soros"/"globalists".

Twitter has, apparently, suspended the account of journalist and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. by Orangutan in news

[–]r721 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is what happened:

1) @JulianAssange was renamed to @AssangeDefence

2) someone renamed their account to now free handle @JulianAssange

3) that account was suspended for impersonation

Sounds a lot like already existing ArchiveTeam:

Archive Team is a loose collective of rogue archivists, programmers, writers and loudmouths dedicated to saving our digital heritage. Since 2009 this variant force of nature has caught wind of shutdowns, shutoffs, mergers, and plain old deletions - and done our best to save the history before it's lost forever.

UPD Also there's a bit similar https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right.

Probably frightened by Congress' attention. Also maybe he decided to wait it out, it's probably costly to fight DDoS attacks without Cloudflare/BitMitigate help.

Content is pulled directly from the reddit api and pushshift.io

So you can't call it an alternative, more like a reddit tool.

David Koch, billionaire industrialist and libertarian political activist, dies at 79 by r721 in news

Ctrl-F "Libertarian":

The sprawling political empire includes conservative and libertarian nonprofits such as Americans for Prosperity, Freedom Partners and Concerned Veterans for America.

In 1980, the younger Koch was nominated as the vice presidential nominee for the Libertarian Party. His running mate at the time was Ed Clark and their campaign ran on abolishing Social Security, the Federal Reserve board, welfare, corporate taxes and minimum wage laws.

A bit sketchy, yeah.

EUobserver subsequently asked if any of the other panel members, or anyone in the audience, believed that it was not inevitable that Europe would use fully autonomous lethal weapons.

No one among the roughly 100 participants - which included EU military brass, companies, civil servants working in defence ministries and EU institutions - raised their hand.
