Wow. Now that's uncalled for! There is a generation gap here for certain.

I asked why the user holds the opinions that a person should lose their job

if it gets out that they are a racist. That phrasing struck me.

Hey, it's your future. I'm just trying to understand the perspective that one should lose their income a/o social standing, for words, for opinions - not actions. I assume not even expressed on the job. IME, for most people, it used to take an arrest or altercation to get fired. I don't have kids and am unfamiliar with the FIRE THEM mindset I've seen from some genderist activists and some others of the generations after my own.

And FYI that incident happened 60 years ago. Society changes.

California law would fine department stores $1,000 for separating toys by gender by Spicylikegumbo in GenderCritical

As a child in the 1970s and 1980s, Elizabeth Sweet played with a Lone Ranger action figure she’d pair up with Barbie for outings in a toy Jeep, Fisher Price Little People with their perfectly round heads and peglike bodies, and Star Wars figures.

But as her own daughter Isabella, now 12, was growing up, Sweet detected a significant shift in toys: There was a distinctive blue and pink divide in girl toys and boy toys.

“I don’t recall when I was young thinking, ‘That’s not for me because I’m a girl,’ but today the messaging is very clear,” said Sweet, a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the UC Davis Department of Sociology. “I think it was something I had noticed for quite some time, but the light bulb moment was when I realized this gender division in toys was something I could study.”

I do think a racist should lose their job if it gets out that they are a racist.

May I ask you why you think this? (deleted irrelevant TMI) Edit. I'm not trying to derail conversation, I just wonder why lovesloane has the opinion expressed to consider in addition to any further contributions on this post by the user. Nevermind

Major study predicts humans will use technology to 'upgrade' OURSELVES over the next 10 years (Trans-humanism?) by BEB in GenderCritical

Ah, Dentsu:

Technology and marketing are becoming synonymous.

Boy, did this hit me wrong as an elder scientist:

Previously, ethics was kind of the annoying thing that you would deal with at the end of a research project, but now we talk about ethics even before we start to build the products,' said Dr Edmund Lee, public health communication scientist.

What a real drag, right? /s

And, shouldn't this be telling?:

Wealthier people will likely pay a premium to be served by a human rather than a robot, or even pay more for a product such as wine made entirely by humans.

Edit: and all this is set forth while speech, debate, and personal beliefs are all under siege. Hard propaganda incoming!

Glad I got to live MY life. This "vision" holds no appeal for me. I'll be camping out in nature, thank you very much!

Republican US House Rep. Chris Stewart reintroduces the Fairness For All Act (the Republican Equality Act - ladies, we're surrounded!) by BEB in GenderCritical

[–]panorama 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh, from the paper, The Unfairness of the Misnamed 'Fairness For All' Act

By definition, antidiscrimination laws coerce some citizens on behalf of others—whereas religious liberty limits government to protect the personal freedom of all. Antidiscrimination policies—sometimes justifiably, to be sure—use legal force to make some people, in some domains, live by the majority’s values; religious liberty protects everyone’s interest in living by his or her own convictions. Pairing a coercive norm with a liberty exception is not live and let live. A true live-and-let-live approach would leave LGBTQ-identifying people free to live by their beliefs, but not “free” to use legal mechanisms to force others to act as if they shared those beliefs.

I don't know either. Maybe a legal weasel envisioned it?

I do know when I first read HR 5, I wondered why they only made a nod to biological sex by making it medical conditions... Raised my eyebrow. Still does.

De nada.

The Republicans seemed to tie abortion to Section 1101, 4, B, the explanation of sex re this Act:

"(B) pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition;

Edit. And the wording of, and around the word "inclusive"

Too many known and unforeseen consequences of this Act to have it ramrodded into US law!

Edit. Personally, I'm for abortion access, but what other legal traps are laid?

I'm stressing to my Senators, if the Left is so adamant, make them separate the classes, sexual orientation, and biological sex, not conflate them! Gender identity is not provable.

Um, while I was taking notes, Bishop of NC did, in one sentence, question what unforeseen consequences could be in future. Mostly, Republicans I heard banged away about the First Amendment and abortion. At least Weber also mentioned intact males in girls locker rooms. (seriously, Pocan actually pulled the "it never happened" and "dozens of Ts killed last year" BS - that's what sent me out for the booze & sweets, streaming on my mobile while I shopped and my carrier failed several times). The Dems wept for the poor lesbians and gays of course, and kept transgender talk mostly to the letter, as in LGBTQ+ (eye roll)

I think you may be able to watch on CSPAN.org, still. Edit: yep, if you scroll down and expand "People in this video" you can hear comments by each individual speaker on this Act! https://www.c-span.org/video/?509209-2/house-approves-equality-act-224-206

Or transcripts. Bill was introduced 1:32:37 or so into the session, and comments began shortly after that

Perhaps we'll go stealth. There are women friendly workarounds I can think of (though I'll not put them out in public for the "activists" to thwart) to address the bathroom issue in medium and small businesses.

(I listened to the 90 minute US House speeches on the Equality Act today - neither tequila nor ice cream helped with my distress. Sigh. Kudos to Rep McClintock,of Ca, who focused on the impact of this abominable Act on WOMEN & girls!!)

I saw your other comment. I'm glad you are responsible with firearms. My comment was for the masses of women who're only familiar with them from entertainment venues. It's foolish to assume they'd be able to only wound, and not kill, an attacker. They need to decide whether they can kill, BEFORE they get a gun - for everyone's safety, lest the attacker obtains that gun to coerce his next victim.

IMO, only women should have guns (like that would ever happen, but still...). I'm not anti firearms- don't presume Beb.

Much better to draw gun late (not as a threat, but when you've become certain to shoot), and aim low, at the belly or crotch - femeral artery may be hit, then fire three more rounds moving up the body, finishing at the head. Strategy wise. You'll have rounds remaining if needed. Get training.

See, real life ain't a movie or TV show. A gun is NOT a threat!! A gun is a weapon. If you are not certain you could kill another living being, stick to other methods of defense, cause that gun would be used on YOU!!

At least one state is trying to put something like political viewpoint into the state's Civil Rights Act I assume to provoke discussion and debate - you know, like what used to be encouraged. So far it looks like it's being called either "excessive" (doesn't need to be in Civil Rights law, but gender identity does??!!?) or bigoted!

This! There are Legislators at all levels who are standing for girls & women. Some of these Legislators hear only from the rabid Gender minority. It's tough on a person to slog through that crap! One State (legislator) Committee member, who represents a district not my own, emailed me personally to thank me for the supportive email I sent immediately after a pertinent committee meeting (held on Zoom and all public speakers but one religious lobbyist were gender advocates).

Let's let them know their efforts are appreciated, and that sane voters DO exist, and the fortitude is worth it.
