This is the most significant - and brilliant - backlash against gender ideology and trans rhetoric that we've had in a long time. Perfectly exposes so many insidious TRA practices - practices that have severely undermined what it means to be LGBT. The idea that all identities are valid, the policing of language, to flip the script on them and use the same tactics against them is just beautiful. Too bad many TRAs seem too naive or narcissistic to realize this is 99% satire mocking their own insidious habits.

Who cares if it's transphobic or not? The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of people have a preference for one type of natural genitals. Period. Doesn't matter if it's transphobic or not at the end of the day. No amount of calling people transphobic is going to get people to be attracted to your genitals. These people will have to accept that sooner or later.

Ugh. Something liberals are uniquely guilty of - certainly more so than conservatives - is this employment and manipulation of language to covey a certain morality. It's designed to prod those who are uninformed or ambivalent about the topic, or to nudge those who might fall on the right or center-right on a certain position. TERF, marriage equality, gender affirmation to me are such grossly subjective terms that liberals shoehorn in the discourse as the natural and objective, even correct way of describing these things.

The notion that "TERFs" are radical is debatable. The notion that same-sex marriage is a necessary part of equality is debatable. And what well-intentioned human WOULDN'T want to affirm another person? But to force these terms in the discourse as the true nomenclature is a manipulative albeit effective tactic employed by the Left.

37 trans/GNC people murdered. Let's say that 0.5% of the American population is trans/GNC. So that's about 1,640,000 trans/GNC people. 37 of 1,640,000 is 2.26 murders per 100,000. That statistic for the general American population is 5.0 per 100,000. So you're actually less likely to be murdered if you're trans/GNC. And that gap is far too large to be due to any significant "under-reporting" of trans/GNC homicides. That would imply that trans homicides are only correctly identified as such ~30% of the time.

But people will just like and retweet this highly misleading statistic time and time again.

The policing of people's language is strike one for me.

This idea that we can't even acknowledge that trans men have female bodies or that trans women have male bodies.

How the dialogue begins and ends at "Trans women are women," as if there's not an ounce of nuance to that statement.

How even broaching the topic of nuance in this case is strictly prohibited in left-leaning circles.

How the onus is on all of us to speak in a way so as to contemplate 0.5% of the population at all times.

How there is no room to discuss the degree to which the rise in trans identification could be comorbid with mental disorders.

I could go on.

I think there's a segment of the population - vocal as they may be - that feel constantly compelled to redefine "bigotry" so they can always feel morally superior.

25 years ago, integrating elements and motifs from different cultures into your art and craft used to be progressive. It showed an appreciation and admiration for beauty and culture outside of your own. Now that's called appropriation. And people - white artists and professionals namely - do not feel comfortable integrating any kind of non-European influence into their art.

The only way everyone at HRC and GLAAD keeps their jobs is to convince donors that LGBT rights are increasingly under attack, no matter how much progress we've objectively made.

[–]oyasuminasai50 12 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I do believe there's such a thing as innate transgender identity. But I think many people who are unhappy with themselves or otherwise suffer from poor socialization are attracted to non-binary and trans ideology because it allows them to distance themselves from themselves and into a new identity of their own making. That's how I would explain the explosion of trans and NB identification in the past 10 years.

Some of it stems from an increase in tolerance towards trans and queer people. But when I look at the rise of trans and NB identification, especially among people who have never experienced gender dysphoria, I think it's more an escape mechanism. It's also why I'll - loosely - associate trans and NB identity today with anime culture. It all provides an escape from the material reality. Fictional Japanese cartoons are about as far removed from Western life as you can get.

And - I think - trans and NB identities allow these people to step into a new persona, one that can distance them from real life where they - perhaps - have a difficult time excelling socially, academically, and / or professionally.

What frustrates me more than anything is how coy they act. They claim they're not erasing sex, but dictionaries are literally be revised to skirt the entire concept of sex. At an alarming pace, we're approaching a world where we will not have any language to refer to sex and sexed bodies. The only thing that will matter is "gender."

And what's more, if TRAs have their way, being trans will just be as easy as telling someone you're trans. So abusive men (NOT legitimate trans women but MEN) will be able to finesse their way into women's spaces as easy as blinking an eye. Women's restrooms, women's locker rooms, women's shelters, you name it.

You won't be able to deny that someone is trans. You won't be able to comment that someone doesn't "look" a certain gender. All of this is increasingly verboten. And abusive cis men can and will take advantage.

We've sort of bifurcated sex into two different things. There's the physical and biological component (i.e. sex) and the social and psychological component (i.e. gender). I've often wondered why sex is the only thing we're allowed to do this to.

Race is no different. Race has a physical and biological component, but there's also a social component. It gets into the same thing of how people perceive you vs. how you want people to perceive you.

Different races also have different cultural and performative characteristics, like with gender.

To pick sex as the only thing that people can sort of deny the physical component in favor of the psychological/social component never made sense to me.

Who's going to tell them that trans and non-binary stop existing once we get rid of gender?

Let me play this out for the next 25-50 years. We went from sex and gender are the same thing (i.e. your physical sex characteristics), to gender and sex are different, to gender trumps sex, to gender no longer exists, which will leave us - invariably - with nothing but our sexed bodies, i.e. where we fucking started!

You could take essentially any physical characteristic and try to bifurcate the physical reality and the psychology around the physical reality and do the same thing that trans people do. Utilize language to obfuscate our understanding of and ability to discuss the material reality and you'll be following the same playbook.

Do we need any more proof that all of these modern day "queer" identities are an exercise in virtue signaling and self-righteousness and NOT the manifestation of any innate sexual orientation? Any legitimate "asexual" would be appalled at the idea of an asexual who likes sex. This is just a way for left-leaning people to feel progressive while also commodifying a sense of victimhood, which has become increasingly valuable over the last 10 years.

That said I don't think it's offensive. It's just an idiotic word used by idiotic people.

I think a lot of it is people, mainly teenagers, who hate themselves and are allured by the idea of a) blaming all their woes on gender dysphoria / transphobia and not these things that are more abstract and intangible like poor socialization, social anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, etc. and b) allured by the idea of reinventing themselves. '

They think they hate themselves because they're trans. But I think they hate themselves for some of those reasons I mentioned. There's no other explanation in my mind for why the most common onset on gender dysphoria has shifted towards adolescence.

On top of this they get what appears to be an affirming, embracing community (i.e. the T community and LGBTQ community more broadly) of people who will approve of them instantly.

And I think a lot of true blue LGB people support this because then they can point around and say "look at how many LGBTQ people there are in the world!" of course when you expand the definition of queer to include pretty much anyone and everyone who wants to be included, it's a pretty easy thing to do.

but i think LGB people don't fight back against this ever expanding definition of "queer" because they're too swept up in the ideological battle of us vs. them, liberals vs. conservatives and if they can look around and point to all these millions of examples of "LGBTQ" people, then it bolsters support for the left and leftwing ideology and appears to legitimize the LGBTQ community as a whole. Even though all we're doing is just undermining the parameters around what being LGBT even means to the point where - again - it includes almost anyone who wishes to opt into the identity.

they just want to look and feel super 100% aCcEpTing (and therefore NOT conservative in the slightest!) even to the point of eroding what it means to be LGBT in the first place

It's often not even about "trans women" doing the assaults. It's about letting predatory men into women's spaces - many of whom are cis. Once we get into the territory of gender neutral restrooms/locker rooms, or we get into self ID, then quite literally any man can walk into a women's bathroom and no one will be able to argue that he doesn't belong there. It has nothing to do with transitioning.

These are good statistics. It's a dishonest metric, there's no two ways about it. And frankly, several years ago, I probably believed it. It's frightening how the culture today allows such misinformation to spread. And there's almost no room to set the record straight because it will be viewed as bigoted towards a certain group, even if you're unequivocally correct.

And this is why I'm skeptical of some nonprofits - like the HRC - whose funding relies on constantly drumming up panic around a social problem that is largely dissipating (anti-LGBT discrimination). It allows dishonesty to flourish.

There is generally no erotic sensation they feel in the penis. There is no ejaculation, no natural erection (only a "rod" or some pumping mechanism).

I absolutely loathe this line of thinking. Yes, gay people were oppressed, rejected, and marginalized. That doesn't mean we need to turn around and accept absolutely everyone into the LGBT community. We still need to draw a line somewhere. And besides, this isn't even a conversation on accepting people into the LGBT community - it's a conversation on who we should be open to fucking. So we shouldn't have genital preferences because gay people were rejected? Come on. Horrifying logic.

There's also a lot of misinformation about the extent to which bottom surgery emulates "real" genitals. A trans man most certainly cannot get a real erection (i.e. a natural reaction to physical/visual stimuli). As I understand, many phallo surgeries do not include any way to have the "penis" stand erect. If it does, one option is either a flexible metal rod that the trans man can "stand up." And the other is a pump that lives in the "scrotum" that the trans man squeezes.

Also, of course, no way to ejaculate. And, let's be frank, a pleasant part of sex for many people is making their partner orgasm.
