37 trans/GNC people murdered. Let's say that 0.5% of the American population is trans/GNC. So that's about 1,640,000 trans/GNC people. 37 of 1,640,000 is 2.26 murders per 100,000. That statistic for the general American population is 5.0 per 100,000. So you're actually less likely to be murdered if you're trans/GNC. And that gap is far too large to be due to any significant "under-reporting" of trans/GNC homicides. That would imply that trans homicides are only correctly identified as such ~30% of the time.

But people will just like and retweet this highly misleading statistic time and time again.

No one deserves to die because of their gender identity. But we don't need to peddle myths to have a conversation about anti-LGBT hate crimes.

The policing of people's language is strike one for me.

I do believe there's such a thing as innate transgender identity. But I think many people who are unhappy with themselves or otherwise suffer from poor socialization are attracted to non-binary and trans ideology because it allows them to distance themselves from themselves and into a new identity of their own making. That's how I would explain the explosion of trans and NB identification in the past 10 years.

Some of it stems from an increase in tolerance towards trans and queer people. But when I look at the rise of trans and NB identification, especially among people who have never experienced gender dysphoria, I think it's more an escape mechanism. It's also why I'll - loosely - associate trans and NB identity today with anime culture. It all provides an escape from the material reality. Fictional Japanese cartoons are about as far removed from Western life as you can get.

And - I think - trans and NB identities allow these people to step into a new persona, one that can distance them from real life where they - perhaps - have a difficult time excelling socially, academically, and / or professionally.

What frustrates me more than anything is how coy they act. They claim they're not erasing sex, but dictionaries are literally be revised to skirt the entire concept of sex. At an alarming pace, we're approaching a world where we will not have any language to refer to sex and sexed bodies. The only thing that will matter is "gender."

And what's more, if TRAs have their way, being trans will just be as easy as telling someone you're trans. So abusive men (NOT legitimate trans women but MEN) will be able to finesse their way into women's spaces as easy as blinking an eye. We've sort of bifurcated sex into two different things. There's the physical and biological component (i.e. sex) and the social and psychological component (i.e. gender). I've often wondered why sex is the only thing we're allowed to do this to.

Race is no different. Race has a physical and biological component, but there's also a social component. It gets into the same thing of how people perceive you vs. how you want people to perceive you.

Different races also have different cultural and performative characteristics, like with gender.

To pick sex as the only thing that people can sort of deny the physical component in favor of the psychological/social component never made sense to me.

These are good statistics. It's a dishonest metric, there's no two ways about it. And frankly, several years ago, I probably believed it. It's frightening how the culture today allows such misinformation to spread. And there's almost no room to set the record straight because it will be viewed as bigoted towards a certain group, even if you're unequivocally correct.

And this is why I'm skeptical of some nonprofits - like the HRC - whose funding relies on constantly drumming up panic around a social problem that is largely dissipating (anti-LGBT discrimination). It allows dishonesty to flourish.

If you use 0.6% of the population are trans as you did vs. 0.5% like I did then you do get closer to 1.85. You could round and say 2 per 100,000 trans people are murdered, compared to 5 per 100,000 which is what I saw as the murder rate for the general population.

There is generally no erotic sensation they feel in the penis. There is no ejaculation, no natural erection (only a "rod" or some pumping mechanism).

I absolutely loathe this line of thinking. Yes, gay people were oppressed, rejected, and marginalized. That doesn't mean we need to turn around and accept absolutely everyone into the LGBT community. We still need to draw a line somewhere. And besides, this isn't even a conversation on accepting people into the LGBT community - it's a conversation on who we should be open to fucking. There's also a lot of misinformation about the extent to which bottom surgery emulates "real" genitals. A trans man most certainly cannot get a real erection (i.e. a natural reaction to physical/visual stimuli). As I understand, many phallo surgeries do not include any way to have the "penis" stand erect. If it does, one option is either a flexible metal rod that the trans man can "stand up." And the other is a pump that lives in the "scrotum" that the trans man squeezes.

Also, of course, no way to ejaculate. And, let's be frank, a pleasant part of sex for many people is making their partner orgasm.
