International chess organization (FIDE) is controlled by Russians and they do not tolerate bullshit. In 2017 they made the female world championship in Iran and obliged all girls to wear Hijab according to Iranian Law. Feminists, of course, were livid.

The current vice-president of Fide is Nigel Short, a famous player who once said literally that women are naturally inferior to men in chess. Which is very funny because he lost to female players more than once.

“It’s a very interesting phrase; it was never used before. You look back, you look at Iraq, which was totally unprovoked, nobody ever called it ‘the unprovoked invasion of Iraq.’

Well, Chomsky is really stupid. The term "unprovoked" is a reference to international law. This term has been around for more than 70 years. A provoked war is considered self-defence and is authorized by the United Nations Charter. An unprovoked war is considered a war of aggression, an unlawful intervention in other countries soverheignity.

The Iraq is not an example of an unprovoked war because both the coalition and Iraq were already in war before the 2001 invasion. The war was in fact provoked when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in the 90s, the first gulf war never ended because there was no peace treaty.

It’s just a well-documented fact that the US and its allies provoked this war in a whole host of ways, from NATO expansion to backing regime change in Kyiv to playing along with aggressions against Donbass separatists to pouring weapons into Ukraine. There’s also an abundance of evidence that the US and its allies sabotaged a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine in the early weeks of the war in order to keep this conflict going as long as possible to hurt Russian interests.

None of this is considered Casus Belli, specially for a third non-involved party like Russia.

Even successful "bottom surgeries" are very problematic. Many patients lose functionality of the genitalia, many are permanently deformed for the rest of life, many feel excruciating pain and many have severe hygienic problems.

All of this would be very problematic in recording porn. Consider that a regular porn movie takes at least 4-5 hours of recording people doing crazy sex and even natural actors complain a lot about the conditions they are submitted to.

Summing it up, it would not be aesthetically pleasing, it would not be safe for the parts involved, it would require a lot more work than recording with natural actors and it would not necessaryly generate more money because it is a very specific fetish.

The painting depicts an elderly man in traditional Ottoman religious costume: a long red garment with embroidered hem, belted at the waist, and a Turkish turban. The figure may be a self-portrait of Hamdi himself. The anachronistic costume predates the introduction of the fez and the spread of Western style dress with the Tanzimat reforms in the mid-19th century. He holds a traditional ney flute and bears a nakkare drum on his back, with a drumstick handing to his front. The man's costume and instruments suggests he may be a Dervish.

The scene is set in a dilapidated upper room at the Green Mosque, Bursa, where the man is attempting to "train" the five tortoises at his feet, but they are ignoring him preferring instead to eat the green leaves on the floor. Above a pointed window is the inscription: "Şifa'al-kulûp lika'al Mahbub" ("The healing of the hearts is meeting with the beloved").

Hamdi's painting of an anachronistic historical character attempting to train tortoises is usually interpreted as a satire on the slow and ineffective attempts at reforming the Ottoman Empire.

Dragoons originally were a class of mounted infantry, who used horses for mobility, but dismounted to fight on foot. From the early 17th century onward, dragoons were increasingly also employed as conventional cavalry and trained for combat with swords and firearms from horseback. While their use goes back to the late 16th century, dragoon regiments were established in most European armies during the 17th and early 18th centuries; they provided greater mobility than regular infantry but were far less expensive than cavalry.

A courtly couple stares adoringly at their sleeping baby in a setting that suggests they are the scions of a distinguished Renaissance family. With its period dress, dynamic triangular composition, and idealized figures with alabaster-smooth faces and hands, Gustave Doyen's painting is reminiscent of the Florentine artist Raphael's depictions of the Holy Family, which similarly focus on the miraculous presence of a young child. For Doyen, the Italian Renaissance represented the pinnacle of human achievement in the arts, and it was Raphael who best expressed the spirituality of modern Christianity while depicting the beauty of the human form in a way worthy of the artists of ancient Rome. Doyen's subject is secular, however. His intent may have been to use all of the elevated symbolism at his disposal to convey that the devotion of parents for their newborn child is the highest form of love.

Diogenes was a cynical philosopher from ancient Greece, who hated authority and social norms. After being expelled from his city he moved to Athens where he lived in a barrel mocking the other philosophers of the city. One day he met the famous emperor Alexander the Great. The emperor wanted to offer a wish to Diogenes and asked what he desired, Diogenes simply answered: "stand out of my light".

Have a great day!

I live near Rio de Janeiro, the city with the big Christ statue. It is an impressive wonder but there are many other cooler spots in the city. There is a cathedral whose insides are all covered in gold, and there is also a giant tropical forest in the middle of the city, so big that you can actually get lost inside. But anyway, there was a really famous Indian guy here in Brazil, his name was Sai Baba, I once met a guy who actually ate his ashes and went to India solely to meet him.

Adam Styka was a polish painter who emigrated to France and became a master in the orintalist movement. He traveled to north Africa and painted the beautiful people and the great scenarios he encountered. He would later move to the United States where he started painting cowboys and American rural themes.
