A friend of mine suggested that she was deliberately playing me so i could serve as a source of validation for her. In hindsight that's logical, but i never got cruel vibes from her in the like 15+ years I've known her. Maybe I'm too trusting. Idk.

This. Look, I don't know you or your history and I can only speak from personal experience. Don't. Trust. Women. Ever. Not even lesbian or bi women, but lesbians are definitely the more trustworthy when it comes to dating. Based on my 10 years since I've realised I'm a lesbian and talking to women and having several crushes and so on, I know one thing for sure - women love attention. They literally do ANYTHING for attention. They will lead you on just to have validation. It isn't about you, it is about them. The truth is that women who ACTUALLY date women in a serious long term way are really really few. I would argue only lesbians and a very small percentage of bi women.

So don't take it personally and I'm sorry this has happened to you. Been there, done that, more than once, with different women.

That being said I will never marry someone wearing a suit lol

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel as well. I'm open to make out and stuff if there's chemistry and she's sweet even if she isn't exactly my "type"/more masculine than I wished. But I have my serious doubts whether I'd be able actually want something serious out of it. Last time I tried to date a butch women, I had literally urges to cheat on her constantly with more feminine women. I felt claustrophobic with so much masculinity. Obviously, I decided to end it right away for the sake of both of us. Interestingly enough, she had told me that I was exactly her type. Life is so damn bs, isn't it?

Interesting! Thanks for your feedback!

but some ppl are just terrified of being made fun of and rejected because it is how often a confident woman taking initiative is portrayed.

That's sad...

I used to think I was only into femmes, I don't know why to be honest but now I've come to ignore all the labels and styles, a woman is a woman.

Well, in my case, it's because I don't like to feel like I'm the "feminine" one and she's the "masculine" one. I don't like that dynamic, I feel like there are certain gender roles that will be expected of us. It doesn't feel right and I actually feel uncomfortable. And besides I do not find masculinity attractive, it's not really something I actively control, it just what happens. But I am trying to keep an open mind (and I've tried this several times) to actually give a try to women who I wouldn't consider them to be my "type", namely more masculine women, because as I said, they seem to treat much better. But I obviously don't want to hurt them either. It's funny you mentioned the "fuckboy" vibe, for example, because it is one of the things that turns me off the most. But I do know there are plenty of women who actually find it attractive somehow!

It just goes to show how society still kind of "shames" women for being sexual like men and also how society has still a long way to go in order for homosexual women to feel 100% comfortable and enjoy their lives with no fears. It's funny that it was the opposite for you! I was indeed the horniest when I was a teenager, it was absolutely horrible! Now I'm still very horny, but as a teenager it was ridiculous! I really think the fact that I don't have any lesbian or bi girl friends doesn't help and makes me feel like I'm alone on this when apparently I'm not! I also think about that I can much easily relate to straight men but not when they do disgusting too over the top comments. I'm constantly wondering "are women like this too?????" because I feel like straight women are just so much more discreet and so soft with words that I truly don't know. But I feel really happy that you do not think less of me and think it's fine. That s a relief! Because this is not something I can control, I can repress it or not, but my body will react anyway. I'm so sorry that your friends reacted the way they did when you expressed your sexuality and I truly hope you can find friends where you can be yourself and, like me, stop repressing it! Bingo. You hit the nail on the head. That's the thing. I feel like it's not socially "accepted" for me to be that open because I'm not a man nor a butch woman. I feel like I'm in this weird 'box' where I look like a 'regular' woman, mistaken for being straight, but I'm not. And I'm not what people think I am, you know? I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. This definitely broke my heart. I'm a lesbian and I've also had my lows in life and the trans ideology movement disencouraged me a lot as well. Because I already felt lots of difficulty when it comes to dating, because of it being so small and also because I am only attracted to femmes (unfortunately, I can't seem to find masculinity attractive, despite efforts). Trans ideology made it even harder because now it's femmes AND gender critical. I know what it's like to feel weird, different as well since a teenager. Feeling out of place, always trying to fit in. Even today, with 24 years old, I still struggle with this, but I'm trying to be more open. I know what it's like to feel hopeless as well and to feel like no one understands. I've never had a lesbian or bi girl friend till this day, so someone who would understand me. Obviously, girls I dated don't count. I mean like an actual friendship. Well, I did have a lesbian friend for a while but she was butch and she didn't understand me in some ways. So I've always felt like the black sheep. I still struggle and hope to get better each day. But I occasionally feel I have no one who understands me. So this place is really one of the few places I can count on. Just want to let you know that I care about you and I wished I could help you or at least be there for you in these hard times. You deserve better. And you deserve to be happy and have a fulfilling life. Please, hang in there. I truly hope you never forget how beautiful you are and that you are worthy of being here.

In fact, it's the mysterious, shy sweet girl in her little corner which will make me feel intrigued and curious about. For me, it's empathy and kindness that turn me on the most as well. Haha! Yeah, I think bi people are the most vulnerable demographic in very specific situations, such as these. Bi people caught up in an heteronormative society end up more times than often with wrong ideas of what sexuality is (thinking everyone's "fluid" like them, or that sexuality is a choice because they chose the opposite sex for example) and some very insecure in themselves and confused as well because society is mainly monossexual. So it definitely has its challenges to navigate the world as a bisexual in a monossexual society. At least that's what I observed through my personal experience.

I mean I've had several conversations of the sort and I've dealt not only with confused straight woman but also men. 😂 There was a guy who once in a while would ask me several super detailed questions looking super confused such as "If a guy was very very very feminine, wouldn't you want to date him?", "The thought of someone, anyone, masturbating doesn't turn you on, even if it's a dude? Because I think it does with me" etc etc etc, but he looked really confused. Later I knew he was kissing dudes at parties. Is he bi? Maybe. It would explain his constant confusion with me

My story isn't exactly like yours but it has similarities. I was a tomboy when I was young, only had guy friends and liked to dress my brothers clothes and play only with considered "boy things". Absolutely hated pink, dolls or anything considered to be stereotypically for girls. As time went by things literally and gradually inverted. As time gone by, I've started to enjoy more and more the company of women, enjoying more stereotypically girl things and my guy friends started to lack. I ended up loving many of the stereotypically girl things, something I would absolutely hate when I was a child. And ended up loving femininity in contrast to what I felt when I was a kid, who though girls were picky and boring and that guys and hobbies that liked were so much cooler. I actually don't like masculinity at all since then. So things literally inverted for me lmao. This is why this ideology scares me so much, because i love being a woman, I'm just a lesbian... But if I was in the wrong hands victim of this ideology, I truly don't know what would be of me.

This a little off topic, but it's amazing how society often puts women on a pedestal. It seems like everyone gets lots of shit from women except straight women. Women use lesbians for attention, gay men for attention, and everything they can for attention. I'm a lesbian but we also do experience A LOT this kind of shit from women, because they like our attention and lead us on just for their ego, but they don't care about us. It's funny how they do a similar sh*t to gay men. It's even more infuriating when I hear multiple straight women tell me they wished they were lesbian because it would be so much [insert positive word here]. Yeah, I bet you couldn't even handle one month 😅 Sorry, this ended up being kind of a rant, but I feel sorry for this dude, I really do. As a fellow lesbian, I hope he runs from that crap woman.

Great questions! I honestly think it's both 1 and 2, despite being more of 1 than 2. I was never a rebel kind of girl. I was always that kind of person who wants do the right things the right way since I was a kid. I enjoy following the 'rules'. Being homosexual kind of challenged me in a way it was perceived as something 'bad' and with stigma, whereas having a husband and kids would be the ""right"" thing to do according to society, you know? It was also very hard for me because of how society still perceives homosexuality. And also what people expect of me and wanting to fit in. Thanks a lot!! :)

Thank you so much! This phrases resonate a lot with what I'm feeling:

But I refused to see myself as one of them (. . . us). And it was because of my fear of being different. I never judged anyone else negatively for being gay, lesbian, or bi but I did not want to accept that my life would be harder in this way.

This was always one of my problems as well and it's one I apparently still do. I appreciate you talking about your own experience and totally encourage you to rant on here, if you feel like it. I truly love this community and feel safe and loved here and it always helps. I wish you the best!

I'm so so relieved that I'm not the only one feeling this. I feel so much better after reading your comment because you truly understand where I'm coming from and what I'm feeling, in particular:

For me it felt like an intense sadness and sudden "otherness". Looking back at it, I think maybe I was also mourning the loss of ever having a "normal" life comparatively.

This is exactly it. It's true that consuming lesbian media and seeing more visibility helps, it did help me a lot in the past in fact. Currently though, I just feel more depressed because I'm not "living it", if you know what I mean. But I truly appreciate your comment a lot, because you truly understand me. And it's still true everything you said.

Thank you so much for your advice. And I'm so sorry about the bullying you had to go through :( This is also a great advice. I really appreciate it. It's very true that when we have at least one friend that can truly accept us and know us is helps a lot. I used to have my best friend but due to lack of schedule incompatibility we drifted apart but try to be part of each other's lives. I'm going to try to deepen my already existing friendships and meet more people. Thank you. <3

I truly appreciate all your advice, very detailed and I'm sure it will help me somehow! <3

It takes a very mentally ill, totally disgusting, fucking loser of a man to be willing to focus all of his energy towards the only demographic of women who isn't interested in them, besides being one hell of a tiny minority of the population. But it's not a fetish /s

I ended up looking at your comments (sorry 🙈) and realised you're a mathematician. I swear to God, if I met you I would have a massive crush on you, as this is anonymous I don't care to be blunt lmao, but I love nerdy woman, and you're intelligent in all the possible ways! You're literally "wife" material I swear to God 😱 You just captivated sorry lmao, with just one comment from this post you made me curious and searched for more and I ended up being even more captivated 😂 sorry if this is very awkward once again, I just was astonished with you, I've had massive crushes on nerdy women like you before, they're my weakness. Have a great day!

Omg, I hope this isn't awkward but you're amazing. I'm sure that the person you are dating or will date will be a very lucky one. You have an incredibly good emotional intelligence and empathy. Something that I, unfortunately, don't see that much. I watch several truly good people but who struggle to understand where others are coming from. Like you say, it's hard to communicate your problem in the 'right' way so people misunderstood it. Unless you're intelligent emotionally enough to understand the nuances and reasons behind it. You're amazing.

Oh I want to use my hands believe me ;) but it's true that I tend to use them less than a more active woman in sex. And no, I didn't date them at the same time. But when I'm with a woman, I want her to feel special and confident, so I never make comparisons to other women I've been or dated. It's more or less how bottom gay men lie to their tops in bed and say their dicks are huge just to make them feel confident haha 😝 I don't lie, but I kind of will do everything in order for her to feel "unique" or "special" even though she might not be doing anything much different from other women I've been before lmao.

It's very funny you're talking about this, because since I'm a kid basically I've been told I have very big hands in comparison to my height and body proportions. And a funny thing is both of the two women I seriously dated loved my hands, one of them told me I had the most beautiful hands a woman could have and the other told me she wanted to marry my hands 🤣 obviously I never told the last one that she wasnt the only one enjoying my hands because I wanted her to feel special 😝 I have long thin fingers and tbh it seems to be one of my most attractive features. Honestly, as a lesbian, it was really pleasing to have my hands complimented, when one of them told me she thought my hands were big was really hot.

I would also like to point out that he didn't say "I just like cisgender dick" I know many gay men, both cis and trans who are including dildos and strap-ons and pre-op trans guys' t-dicks when they say they "like dick".

He likes dick! Good for him! Does that include t-dick? Bottom surgery dick? Store-bought dick? Don't know, none of my business.

And I believe it's very much a gender thing, women are taught to behave certain ways just like men are. Women gently test the waters and hold back our true thoughts and feelings, and find a neutral or compatible way of interacting. We escalate and build up and advance as we feel safe to do so.

Omg, you explain what I feel so well 😢 I feel like men are allowed to express their sexuality with no filters at all and sometimes it's even too much and with women it's opposite! I'm constantly afraid or testing if this is the right moment, the right time, the right people to say what I'm thinking or not. And the way I say the things is everything very thought and not espontaneous.

They may be wanting to get to know you better and let loose themselves, and can't because you aren't revealing who you really are.

Yes, this is precisely my problem. I repress so much and hold myself back so much I feel like my friends don't get to know me.😢 And then I just don't want to go out anymore, start distancing myself, because I feel so "careful" with what I speak all the time :'

PS- you don't need to censor swear words or gendered slurs in this sub.

Thanks for letting me know! I think you really nailed it, and could really understand my fears and problem with this... I feel much better after this comment, it will be a slow process, I hope I can become a more espontaneous person :'

Part of it though is that she was visibly gay so every gay/bi girl would reveal themselves to her.

Damn, you have no idea how much I envy your gf lmao... I've thought countless times about becoming more "masculine" for that to happen (which I'm pretty sure would make my life easier), but I just can't.. It just isn't me.

It's very interesting to see how you both ended up together and have so different experiences. I wish you both all the best! <3

Not being able to talk to my parents about what, to me, was the most important thing in my life at the time made me feel resentful and alienated to a degree that I stopped discussing anything significant with them

Something similar has happened to me. I did tell my mother, but as she didn't reacted well to my coming out and hurt me so much I stopped discussing anything related to my loving life with her till this day.

I hope you feel better or happier now and that you were able to overcome your insecurities and fears! Take care.

This label that I’ve felt so much comfort and security in

This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you can tell she isn't a lesbian. The vast majority of lesbians (me included) have struggled or struggle A LOT with the word 'lesbian' and many of us have done everything to call ourselves everything but lesbian. For example, I still avoid that word and prefer telling I'm a gay woman instead. However, currently due to TQ+, I call myself always homosexual.

Every time I see someone SO obsessed with the label 'lesbian' is always not a lesbian and when I see a woman trying to run away from it, more often than not, she IS the real lesbian 😅 Oh, the irony of it.

To no one's surprise, creator of the "lesbian masterdoc" comes out as bi. by MilkTea in LGBDropTheT

Exactly, this is what's the most ironic. I think people who aren't lesbians have this romanticized and idealized idea of what being a lesbian is, that two women together is rainbow and everything never ending beautiful when in reality women can be a pain in the a**, the relationships are "normal" meaning they have its ups and downs and problems, the dating pool is ridiculously small and practically no one respect us, not even within our own community. How cool to be a lesbian. /s
