We've had threads on asexuality, what about demisexuality? by hyunnahh in LGBDropTheT

[–]moonlightascending 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

back in my tumblr days shudder I very much identified as a "demisexual". I thought that the reason I wasn't attracted to men was because I was this weird micro-label. the term lesbian or even bisexual terrified me (mostly due to religious trauma), and it took me ages to accept who I really am: a lesbian. I personally do prefer getting to know someone before dating them, for a number of reasons. but that's not the reason I'm LGB. demisexuality isn't a thing, and if it was then almost everyone would identify that way. asexuality is a thing, sure, but again it's not expressly LGB. no one is discriminated against for not wanting sex or only wanting it after getting to know someone.

"straight person or lesbian in a relationship with the opposite sex" so... straight with more steps. again.

People who menstruate of saidit, make sure your sexual partner has a trash can in the bathroom and soap. You know, normal bathroom things by SteppenSlut in GenderCritical

[–]moonlightascending 20 insightful - 3 fun20 insightful - 2 fun21 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

as a "cis woman" (kill me) who doesn't menstruate, I can safely say that I don't give a fuck about someone daring to assume I do. cause. ya know. that's one of the things pretty much all women do.

smh guess I'm just a terrible terfling

Who are some trans people you get along with/admire? by quickbeam in GenderCritical

[–]moonlightascending 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't necessarily have an issue with people who're transgender in the sense that I recognize that dysphoria is a mental illness and as someone with mental illness understand it's very hard to cope with and people are usually willing to do whatever it takes to make it better. I have an issue with the fact that the "solution" being marketed to teens and young adults is irreversible surgeries and medications, and that the loudest of these individuals tend to be rather misogynistic and enjoy telling lesbians how to behave and who to date.

to answer your question, I like and agree with Blair White on a surprising number of issues, and follow Rose of Dawn as well.

I have a few friends who're "nonbinary", "gender fluid", etc. and I still love them, I just don't agree with their "gender identity". however, the people I'm friends with aren't the ones screaming that lesbians need to suck girldick and that not dating TIMs is a hate crime. they're surprisingly pretty chill.

I'm 16, and from ages 12-14 legitimately thought I was "queer transfem nonbinary" and went by "they/them" when no, I'm a femme lesbian. Tumblr convinced me that because I don't "feel like a woman" (whatever the hell that means), I'm obviously nonbinary. the current TQ community is incredibly toxic and harmful for young people coming out and is trying to convince them that unless you're trans you don't matter.

yeah on behalf of witches everywhere I'd just like to apologize for whatever the fuck that was and say that we do not claim "them"

TRAs were angry when r/gendercritical existed. Now they're mad s/gendercritical exists. It's almost like banning subs doesn't delete people from existence by [deleted] in GenderCritical

exactly. we don't go around telling people with eating disorders their self-image is correct and they're actually overweight, because that would be immensely harmful. we don't go along with someone's hallucinations when they're schizophrenic. the TRAs are the only people who's delusions are being treated as reality.

hello fellow radfem 16 year old lesbian! I 100% understand how you feel. it's so challenging being a teenage lesbian in the first place, not to mention when you're a "terf". honestly until I saw this post I thought I was the only one. but I guess now we know we're not alone in all this. it sounds like we've had very similar high school experiences. I tried to join the GSA at my school and it was all TIMs, TIFs, and TRA "allies". I've never felt at home at pride or any other "LGBT" gathering. it's really hard, and I wish I had a solution for you. all I can say is that I get it, it's awful, and you're not alone in all this.

ugh. I didn't realize 31 were legally recognized in NYC. I've always wanted to go to Columbia/Barnard, but they're both TRA breeding grounds so I'm not sure if I could feel at home there.

my hospital has recently decided all care providers must have pronoun pins on their lanyards, and I had a doctor come in who apparently was a "they/them". she was fine at being a doctor, but I just couldn't take her seriously. the girl went to brown for chrissakes. you'd think she'd be aware of biological reality.

that was my concern. I stumbled across TL at a time when I needed it and only knew about the reddit communities. I know lesbians always find each other but it still concerns me.
