Honestly, I have little sympathy for that person. Sounds like his family and the people around him have done so much for him and while he acknowledges his wife's hard work, there's no mention of what he's done for her or her actual feelings. Exactly, they started with a few "reasonable" demands (TRAs back then: you'll do it just to be nice, won't you?) and very quickly the scope of their demands has widened and not instantly going along with everything is now hateful and, if they have their way, against the law.

In my country pronoun usage is not yet legally mandated, but they're already trying to sneak in a self-ID law. Probably trying to do the opposite strategy of the UK where despite their campaigning enough opposition grew that self-ID failed.

I'm not advocating for violence or taking their actual human rights away (no, "I deserve that you have sex with me" or "I deserve to be in a changing room with you because seeing your nudity validates me!" do not count as human rights), I approach the individual person with an open mind and judge them on their words and actions, what else is there? Trans people get the same basic respect as any other random person, they're not special.

I think women having to always be overly "respectful" (i.e. having to act like trans people are more oppressed than women and their opinions count more) and not ruffling any feathers has really hurt us, in the face of TRAs completely steamrolling large parts of the feminist movement and women's spaces. Women have been far too self-effacing and nice to TRAs, it's brought us to this point. This constant questioning of "how to make sure I'm not being hateful?" (just because we don't want our boundaries crossed and safety risked) isn't something TiMs worry about, that's for sure.

I've totally noticed that as well in German language articles, calling people "Transsexuelle" instead of transgender. It's weird because obviously no one is actually capable of changing their sex and it's considered the wrong/old-fashioned word in English, but in German they're going with that? It really seems TRAs in Germany are skipping the "oh it's just about gender not sex, which everyone knows is a social construct so we can identify that way" step that their English-speaking brethren used to get a foot in the door and going straight to "making any distinction between transwomen and bio women is actually transphobic!".

I think the most glaring discrepancy is that boys are not taught to "just deal with it and don't say anything" the way girls are. My most vulnerable stage of being shamed for my biological realities was during puberty and after I got my first period, and I was embarrassed to be heard changing my pad even by other girls. Having to do it next to young boys, in the same bathroom, who will loudly call you out and make fun of you (because no one teaches them better) would've been hell. Exactly, that was me in my teens and early 20s. I honestly thought sexism had been "solved" and there was little to rebel against. Now that I've seen more of the world I know better, but young women in the young millenial/zoomer generation think it's only trans people that are victimized, that "cis" women are somehow on an equal level with men. That doctor never harmed or shamed the TiM patient in any way, in fact I think there was some real human concern for the patient. Finding a doc like that when I've had actual medical issues (that were not a choice like taking hormones because you're a guy who wants boobs) has often been difficult and the ones that take their time are a godsend.

TRAs are putting a lot of pressure on medical workers to just give them what they want and to never ask questions or give advice, all the while making appointment after appointment for their hormones. Honestly wish general practitioners could just opt out of wasting their time on gender-obsessed patients who clog up the system with elective stuff.

Yep, TiMs complain about supposed violence (mostly from tricking men into sleeping with them, who then react badly) they fear but women actually have gotten beaten up just for not approving of transwomen in their spaces.
