If my boss told me to wear more makeup to be sexier for zoom meetings I'd straight up put on clown makeup and then play dumb when he complains.

Personally, I've only ever encountered the (no less sexist) opposite, where male bosses thought they could complain to me about middle aged women dressing "too young" or "too sexy" because they dared wear a skirt and the boss has some really weird conservative views (i.e. only young sexy women should show their legs).

Hey now, giving birth through your male anus is perfectly natural and a super sexy womanly thing to do! Vaginas are transphobic anyway (unless they are perfect neo-vaginas)! Just put on a short skirt and knee-high schoolgirl socks, let that foodbaby gut hang out, head to your local hospital's labor & delivery room, tell 'em you're giving trans-birth (trirth?) and that doctor will validate you for sure! Don't worry, men, if you feel so oppressed by being born as men (not being seen as superior in all areas of public life anymore sure is tough, especially when deep down you just know you actually are better than women), just identify as women. Now the feminists that would've boohooed your MRA whining will have no choice but to admit you are truly victims, and your low opinion of biological women will forevermore be swept under the rug.

I see exchanges like that a lot online and it's so strange to me. These people really think being critical of gender and aware of the reality of sex-based oppression is on the level of being a racist, so when they publicly shittalk "terfs", everyone can see how tolerant and inclusive they are. Except a terf has never hurt anyone, we do not condone violence and are not a danger to human rights. But sure, saying "I was born a woman and you were not" is the most horrible and hateful thing anyone has ever done to another person.

All the commenters with trans/pride flags saying "they're only detransitioning because they have unsupportive parents!". Total bullshit, first, they know nothing about these childrens' parents but of course screaming "transphobic" into the ether is their knee-jerk reaction to anything they dislike hearing, and secondly, how were the children out and living as trans if the parents were so unsupportive? A 13 y.o. girl can't transition on her own without the parents' help & money.

I just feel so bad for these kids who think they must perform gender to such a degree, whether it's their gender or opposite gender stereotypes. Must be exhausting, I remember very well how much peer pressure there was at that age, in our class almost every girl wore the same shoes and jeans and we were made fun of if we didn't have similar branded clothing. But at least it wasn't some arms race over who could be the most dysphoric or non-binary, lol.

Yep, I saw an article on Die Zeit yesterday, an interview between a male journalist and a 62-year-old TiM, head of a tv programme, who "bravely" came out now that he's the boss of an entire syndicate and everyone in the mainstream falls all over themselves to champion to trans issues.

He had such fantastic, wise quotes as (translated from German) "A woman is a woman is a woman" (which he obviously considers himself) and "I live who I truly am now". Great.... /s Two men talking about the question "whether a woman is born a woman or society makes her one". I honestly thought it was both overly simplistic and highly ofensive in an "awww I'm so nice and harmless, it's just about being ~authentically myself~". When really it's a highly powerful man who needs all his employees and the media to call him a real woman, meanwhile he's never done anything for women in Germany in his entire life.

I sadly don't see my fellow Germans putting up a fight about it.

Yep, it's socially maladjusted people with low self esteem and no experience in life who have been fed the "hero's journey" narrative that they're super special. They've often been raised on video games where they can slip in and out of other identities, of course they think this is also possible irl. When we (the "NPCs", who needs empathy when everyone else is just a background character?) don't validate their transness, out come the insults and threats like they're in a Call of Duty voice chat.

Ridiculous, they get rid of the feminist subs with barely a word in protest from women on reddit (trollx and twoX were celebrating that shit) but try the same censorship and fail when it's only about a word about hentai/anime, then they run with their tail between their legs. Goes to show that TRAs are really good at coming in hot and righteous but when their targets bully back, they turn into the biggest cowards.

Honestly, it pains me that women don't have as much solidarity or backbone for our own much more fundamental issues, patriarchy has really done a number on so many of us.

If anything it calls out gender identity as a complete construct, like male AGP roleplaying online taken to the next level. The ending that the wife is "allowed to sleep with other men" (idk how it plays out in the episode so I can only go by what you wrote) would surely anger most guys watching it, wouldn't that be basically "being cucked" or whatever MRAs online call it? She lives her life for real while all the men on the show get is a fantasy of being/fucking a cute Asian girl.

[–]meranii 51 insightful - 3 fun51 insightful - 2 fun52 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Men would've dismantled patriarchy a thousand years ago if it weren't a net positive for the vast majority of men. Historically, oppressing 50% of the population automatically made you part of the "winning" half, even if you're a complete loser otherwise.

Men on the internet who speak out against the patriarchy only do so as a way to complain about how their particular personality or lifestyle isn't seen as the most manly and admired in society ("I'm a socially awkward nerd, so unfair! Toxic masculinity hurts me most of all!"), if you actually expect them to ally with women you'll quickly find that any feminism that makes them slightly uncomfortable or offended will be cause for them to abandon the movement.

It's no surprise that men that were nerdy and "weak" growing up and then reach success later in life (tech bros, former media darlings like Joss Whedon and Louis CK) are, while outwardly claiming to support equality, some of the most misogynistic opportunists around.

They all keep repeating "transwomen have it so much harder than cis women". If it were true, you wouldn't have to say it ad nauseam and could actually point to some evidence. Plus, none of the comments actually have any answers to the "holes in the narrative" the OP complains about, it's all just "yeah but it's so tough being trans!" or "but terfs suck, poor us". And you know why? Because TRA proselytizing is based on a bunch of lies, you can't argue reality away.

Also, to the TiMs who claim they actually deal with sexism and misogyny too. Nah, you don't. You deal with people being revolted when they see a man awkwardly and deludedly pretending to be a woman.

I totally get your anger, OP, and commend you for your patience (personally would've probably started to ignore him as soon as the selfies started, but I bet he would've had a roblem with that as well), you tried to give actual good advice that you'd give to an inexperienced girlfriend. But of course the rampant narcissism (weird how they always think being feminine means being a self-involved drama queen) left no space for pragmatic advice, and accusing you of mansplaining is the height of hypocrisy.

Do you think he'll try to tell everyone you know how "transphobic" you are? He might blatantly change stuff around like "she told me I can't wear yoga pants because I'm not a real woman, boohoo".

No matter how nice or polite we are, that's not gonna make the males/TiMs respect us more, being soft-spoken doesn't reduce male violence. Plus, unlike TRAs, I don't pretend to speak for all women so this is ultimately only my opinion.

A fantastic article, I went in just thinking I'd skim it (life is hectic) but it really grabbed me.

It is horrifying and exhausting to realize that TRA threats of violence are exactly the same as old-school misogynistic violence that was used for thousands of years to keep women downtrodden and in fear of speaking up against injustice. Only you used to at least be allowed to say that the person threatening to punch/beat/rape you was a man, and your cry for help was not considered fucking hate speech. Now, these violent men revel in their verbal threats and shamelessly egg each other on.

[–]meranii 27 insightful - 2 fun27 insightful - 1 fun28 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I have no problem with intersectional feminism in the academic sense, but online it's been misunderstood as sort of a "privilege tally/ladder" where you have more or fewer privilege points than someone else and you are automatically an oppressor or a victim, i.e. a "cis" woman is more privileged than a transwoman and therefore the individual transwoman is justified in endlessly shitting on "cis" women, despite women as a class having been systematically oppressed and used as breeding stock for thousands of years, and the transwoman might just be a horny straight neckbeard with an AGP fetish whose family has coddled him his entire life.

It really has created an "us vs. them" feminism and I'm not sure how we're supposed to get out of this toxic mode of thinking, because currently I think feminism is much more fractured and weaker than it's ever been.

The entitlement is so ridiculous, they don't just want to pressure someone into fucking them, they also want to be paid by whoever they've chosen to take part in their whore kink. Probably peaking all the straight woke bros they've contacted with their "enticing offer", lol.

I'm sure they'll find a freak here or there who will pay them for a BJ, but their idea of sex work is the typical rose-tinted glasses kind of shit you see a lot these days. Where it's cushy, sexy and you only ever have to do what you're comfortable with and you're never in any danger.

Also, about the author of this article: The writing really devolves into just anecdotes about their own sex life/friends/wannabe-thotness, so their narcissism is clear. People like this just want to be paid for sex because they think it's the ultimate sign of their desirability, and they're incapable of recognizing people's unwillingness to participate in their kink for what it means (no, your "bussy" is not a valuable commodity desired by all straight men), instead they want to shame people for not being prgressive/open-minded enough.

Being a transwoman is basically the trump card they use against badly informed intersectional feminists, there is apparently no greater oppression in life than to be a dumpy middle aged guy who likes to jerk off while wearing women's panties and lipstick. If transmen are ever talked about (they rarely are unless it's to invalidate female only spaces), suddenly it's verboten to mention internalized misogyny as a reason for their transition or to imply that once they pass as men, they make use of male privilege for their own gain, despite both concepts being generally accepted for "cis" people.

There's so much abuse in elder care, sexual abuse, physical abuse and neglect, people are lying in their beds and their full diapers go unchanged for hours and hours, their muscles atrophy and they develop bedsores because a lot of those places are understaffed and there's barely any time for individual care... but sure, let's please focus our efforts on their gender identity, the performance of which they might remember to keep up that day (or not). Put a wig and some makeup on the angry old guy while poor old Barbara's bedpan hasn't been emptied in a day. Then some other day he might try to attack the nurse for putting the wig on him because treating him like a woman is obviously insulting.

You mean that SO MANY men hate women? When I started reading anonymous online forums and saw massive collections of men's porn fiction/drawings/pornos, probably in the late '90s or early 2000s. I had always known there were misogynists and that society is sexist etc., but I'd never really experienced how visceral and hateful whole organized groups of thousands of men were in wanting to kill/rape/enslave women, how men growing up in developed countries fantasized online about taking human rights away from women again, how they see us as holes for fucking only and undeserving of basic respect otherwise, how they masturbate to images of severely abused women, etc.

So when some skeevy dudes invite them to a hotel to "take modeling pictures" they don't have to worry, surely it's just like any other job! I mean, they warned us against stuff like that in the '80s and '90s, turns out we should've thanked predatory porn scouts for "letting us reclaim our sexuality".

Just "she lovingly supported me", now it'd be embarrassing to tell her and everyone else he's changed his mind.

It's still all narcissism, he doesn't like this and that about being a woman, it's not awesome and special and sexy like he thought it would be. I see a total lack of personal responsibility, he "feels lied to" and is delusional about supposedly being able to pass as male or female.

Exactly, they started with a few "reasonable" demands (TRAs back then: you'll do it just to be nice, won't you?) and very quickly the scope of their demands has widened and not instantly going along with everything is now hateful and, if they have their way, against the law.

In my country pronoun usage is not yet legally mandated, but they're already trying to sneak in a self-ID law. Probably trying to do the opposite strategy of the UK where despite their campaigning enough opposition grew that self-ID failed.

[–]meranii 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm not advocating for violence or taking their actual human rights away (no, "I deserve that you have sex with me" or "I deserve to be in a changing room with you because seeing your nudity validates me!" do not count as human rights), I approach the individual person with an open mind and judge them on their words and actions, what else is there? Trans people get the same basic respect as any other random person, they're not special.

I think women having to always be overly "respectful" (i.e. having to act like trans people are more oppressed than women and their opinions count more) and not ruffling any feathers has really hurt us, in the face of TRAs completely steamrolling large parts of the feminist movement and women's spaces. Women have been far too self-effacing and nice to TRAs, it's brought us to this point. This constant questioning of "how to make sure I'm not being hateful?" (just because we don't want our boundaries crossed and safety risked) isn't something TiMs worry about, that's for sure.

I've totally noticed that as well in German language articles, calling people "Transsexuelle" instead of transgender. It's weird because obviously no one is actually capable of changing their sex and it's considered the wrong/old-fashioned word in English, but in German they're going with that? It really seems TRAs in Germany are skipping the "oh it's just about gender not sex, which everyone knows is a social construct so we can identify that way" step that their English-speaking brethren used to get a foot in the door and going straight to "making any distinction between transwomen and bio women is actually transphobic!".

But it's honestly so important that young women see how these TiMs actually think and act.

We can't change it because the TRAs managed to set the tone of public discourse before the average person really gave a thought to the possible consequences of "it's natural for a child to be trans because of their hobbies/preference in clothes". Everyone thinks this is the new progressive milestone and "we don't want to be on the wrong side of history". Once the shitloads of horrorstories of deeply disturbed adults who were transitioned as kids and young teens come pouring in, then maybe the public will wise up. It is so obviously abuse. But TRAs will definitely try to suppress that too.

Women who are really comfortable living with men and sharing toilets with them don't seem to care. Maybe they honestly don't get that some (I think most?) women do NOT want to do personal things in front of men?

I think the most glaring discrepancy is that boys are not taught to "just deal with it and don't say anything" the way girls are. My most vulnerable stage of being shamed for my biological realities was during puberty and after I got my first period, and I was embarrassed to be heard changing my pad even by other girls. Having to do it next to young boys, in the same bathroom, who will loudly call you out and make fun of you (because no one teaches them better) would've been hell. Why is it always on girls and women to be inclusive and accepting, but boys and men are the same monsters they always were?

Exactly, that was me in my teens and early 20s. I honestly thought sexism had been "solved" and there was little to rebel against. Now that I've seen more of the world I know better, but young women in the young millenial/zoomer generation think it's only trans people that are victimized, that "cis" women are somehow on an equal level with men. In reality, men are as sexist as ever and hurt and rape and kill women the same as before, there's barely any women in CEO positions or in high political offices, our reproductive rights are being curtailed, we're expected to accept men as "real women" in our spaces... in other words, since the '70s, women's rights have been either at a standstill or steadily eroded, but pop/choice feminism is more "trendy" and makes it seem like things are fine.

The male entitlement that you can just enter any space you want and people there have to treat you 100% how you want to be treated. Even the TiMs who don't turn out to be rapists like this asshole have this entitlement that they don't actually have to put the work in or adjust to new social circles, it's the women who have to change and cater to them.

It's infuriating how the TiMs who respond to him are bitter about progressives not being "welcoming enough" to them, when these are the only women who'll even welcome them at all.

TRA Instagram page hosts interview with a TERF. Cue complete meltdown. by jet199 in GenderCritical

It's a hallmark of irrational and self-obsessed people that anything that makes them feel bad, or even just uncomfortable, means the other person is automatically bad, malicious, an enemy. Nothing Olivia said was mean or even unkind or wrong, and they cannot actually point to anything specific, but they still freak out and say it's transphobic. Why? Because they feel it somehow is. Because a "terf" should not be allowed to speak at all. Anyone who disagrees with them and their worldview is not allowed to speak.

Notice how they needed to see Amy (who is firmly pro-trans) grovel and apologize over and over again? And it still won't be good enough, years down the line Amy's TRA "friends" will still bring up how she "gave terfs a platform". They enjoy putting the emotional thumbscrews on any women who need to be "punished" for stepping out of line.

TiM calls doctor “Transphobic” for warning them about the TRUTH of GRS/SRS & wants to report / dox them! by girliiish in GenderCritical

That doctor never harmed or shamed the TiM patient in any way, in fact I think there was some real human concern for the patient. Finding a doc like that when I've had actual medical issues (that were not a choice like taking hormones because you're a guy who wants boobs) has often been difficult and the ones that take their time are a godsend.

TRAs are putting a lot of pressure on medical workers to just give them what they want and to never ask questions or give advice, all the while making appointment after appointment for their hormones. Honestly wish general practitioners could just opt out of wasting their time on gender-obsessed patients who clog up the system with elective stuff.

Oof, those results look awful. I'm sorry to say that those transguys look really... unattractive, very few of them will achieve anything close to what is traditionally considered a masculine look. They need therapy for their self-hate, not to have body parts chopped off because they think it will fix what's wrong with their lives.

How are women responding? by Baileyscheesecakes in GenderCritical

Yep, TiMs complain about supposed violence (mostly from tricking men into sleeping with them, who then react badly) they fear but women actually have gotten beaten up just for not approving of transwomen in their spaces.

I certainly wouldn't confront a TiM directly, I already know the guy is delusional and enjoys breaking boundaries. But I would complain and take my business elsewhere, hopefully there will still be alternatives. Sidenote, but maybe the whole "annoying Karen" thing is being meme'd so hard right now because they don't want women to complain to businesses either, and of course men in general love taking part in women-shaming for any reason.

I hope your heart heals, it's got to be awful to lose a partner of 3 years to this delusion. It's probably very painful right now but it will get better and you'll get over her. hugs Her internalized misogyny is super-unfortunate, but at least she didn't try to get you to accept her as a guy and make you re-define yourself as straight or bi.

Honestly, it's not unlikely that in a couple of months or years she'll detransition, once the shiny special-ness of her "new identity" wears off, and she'll (try to) come crawling back to you. Live your life, block her and move on if you can so you're free of any of her future drama, because I think she's clearly shown you she's not the one for you. You sound like a good person because you still have concern for her well-being but don't let her keep you on her backburner.
