The holes that TERFs exploit by Chunkeeguy in GenderCritical

[–]meranii 51 insightful - 2 fun51 insightful - 1 fun52 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

They all keep repeating "transwomen have it so much harder than cis women". If it were true, you wouldn't have to say it ad nauseam and could actually point to some evidence. Plus, none of the comments actually have any answers to the "holes in the narrative" the OP complains about, it's all just "yeah but it's so tough being trans!" or "but terfs suck, poor us". And you know why? Because TRA proselytizing is based on a bunch of lies, you can't argue reality away.

Also, to the TiMs who claim they actually deal with sexism and misogyny too. Nah, you don't. You deal with people being revolted when they see a man awkwardly and deludedly pretending to be a woman.

Hating women is really fashionable right now among the "woke" as long as they put white in front of it. You could say this kind of misogyny never went out of style but pretending it's some sort of groundbreaking progressiveness is new.

I feel such a visceral revulsion for people that tell a woman to "shut up" like they do JK Rowling, even more so when it's such a concerted media effort. That sort of muzzling language is never used for men they disagree with.

You mean that SO MANY men hate women? When I started reading anonymous online forums and saw massive collections of men's porn fiction/drawings/pornos, probably in the late '90s or early 2000s. I had always known there were misogynists and that society is sexist etc., but I'd never really experienced how visceral and hateful whole organized groups of thousands of men were in wanting to kill/rape/enslave women, how men growing up in developed countries fantasized online about taking human rights away from women again, how they see us as holes for fucking only and undeserving of basic respect otherwise, how they masturbate to images of severely abused women, etc.

Ah yes, teach the next generation of girls that it's totally normal for them to go into sex work, no problems there.

So when some skeevy dudes invite them to a hotel to "take modeling pictures" they don't have to worry, surely it's just like any other job! I mean, they warned us against stuff like that in the '80s and '90s, turns out we should've thanked predatory porn scouts for "letting us reclaim our sexuality".

Weird how the TiMs are supposedly so fragile that the mere mention of their maleness drives them to suicide, and yet somehow they have no problem taking over and completely controlling all these online spaces. Honestly, I have little sympathy for that person. Just "she lovingly supported me", now it'd be embarrassing to tell her and everyone else he's changed his mind.

It's still all narcissism, he doesn't like this and that about being a woman, it's not awesome and special and sexy like he thought it would be. I see a total lack of personal responsibility, he "feels lied to" and is delusional about supposedly being able to pass as male or female.

Exactly, they started with a few "reasonable" demands (TRAs back then: you'll do it just to be nice, won't you?) and very quickly the scope of their demands has widened and not instantly going along with everything is now hateful and, if they have their way, against the law.

In my country pronoun usage is not yet legally mandated, but they're already trying to sneak in a self-ID law. Probably trying to do the opposite strategy of the UK where despite their campaigning enough opposition grew that self-ID failed.

[–]meranii 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm not advocating for violence or taking their actual human rights away (no, "I deserve that you have sex with me" or "I deserve to be in a changing room with you because seeing your nudity validates me!" do not count as human rights), I approach the individual person with an open mind and judge them on their words and actions, what else is there? Trans people get the same basic respect as any other random person, they're not special.

I think women having to always be overly "respectful" (i.e. having to act like trans people are more oppressed than women and their opinions count more) and not ruffling any feathers has really hurt us, in the face of TRAs completely steamrolling large parts of the feminist movement and women's spaces. Women have been far too self-effacing and nice to TRAs, it's brought us to this point. This constant questioning of "how to make sure I'm not being hateful?" (just because we don't want our boundaries crossed and safety risked) isn't something TiMs worry about, that's for sure.

I've totally noticed that as well in German language articles, calling people "Transsexuelle" instead of transgender. It's weird because obviously no one is actually capable of changing their sex and it's considered the wrong/old-fashioned word in English, but in German they're going with that? It really seems TRAs in Germany are skipping the "oh it's just about gender not sex, which everyone knows is a social construct so we can identify that way" step that their English-speaking brethren used to get a foot in the door and going straight to "making any distinction between transwomen and bio women is actually transphobic!".

Yep, I saw an article on Die Zeit yesterday, an interview between a male journalist and a 62-year-old TiM, head of a tv programme, who "bravely" came out now that he's the boss of an entire syndicate and everyone in the mainstream falls all over themselves to champion to trans issues.

He had such fantastic, wise quotes as (translated from German) "A woman is a woman is a woman" (which he obviously considers himself) and "I live who I truly am now". Great.... /s Two men talking about the question "whether a woman is born a woman or society makes her one". I honestly thought it was both overly simplistic and highly ofensive in an "awww I'm so nice and harmless, it's just about being ~authentically myself~". When really it's a highly powerful man who needs all his employees and the media to call him a real woman, meanwhile he's never done anything for women in Germany in his entire life.

I sadly don't see my fellow Germans putting up a fight about it.

"She" actually also got a lot of backlash about that and was not kept on the show. This fucked up typically male thinking is probably more widespread among TiMs than the general public thinks.

TiMs like him are such typical attention-seekers and so narcissistic that he probably doesn't care that he's losing female fans, he never cared about biological women anyways and turns this (bad) publicity into victim-points for himself. He won't apologize because narcissists never think they're wrong, and he probably knows his trans status provides him with protection against criticism for his misogyny.

But it's honestly so important that young women see how these TiMs actually think and act.

Of course we know these privileges are all in their mind, they are socially maladjusted losers with behavioral/mental problems who mistake their own desire for women's bodies for a supposed power women have (when in reality men thinking like them has been the basis of controlling and disenfranchising women for millennia).

Except a terf has never hurt anyone, we do not condone violence and are not a danger to human rights. But sure, saying "I was born a woman and you were not" is the most horrible and hateful thing anyone has ever done to another person.

We can't change it because the TRAs managed to set the tone of public discourse before the average person really gave a thought to the possible consequences of "it's natural for a child to be trans because of their hobbies/preference in clothes". Everyone thinks this is the new progressive milestone and "we don't want to be on the wrong side of history". Once the shitloads of horrorstories of deeply disturbed adults who were transitioned as kids and young teens come pouring in, then maybe the public will wise up. It is so obviously abuse. But TRAs will definitely try to suppress that too.

Women who are really comfortable living with men and sharing toilets with them don't seem to care. Maybe they honestly don't get that some (I think most?) women do NOT want to do personal things in front of men?

I think the most glaring discrepancy is that boys are not taught to "just deal with it and don't say anything" the way girls are. My most vulnerable stage of being shamed for my biological realities was during puberty and after I got my first period, and I was embarrassed to be heard changing my pad even by other girls. Having to do it next to young boys, in the same bathroom, who will loudly call you out and make fun of you (because no one teaches them better) would've been hell. Why is it always on girls and women to be inclusive and accepting, but boys and men are the same monsters they always were?

Now that I've seen more of the world I know better, but young women in the young millenial/zoomer generation think it's only trans people that are victimized, that "cis" women are somehow on an equal level with men. In reality, men are as sexist as ever and hurt and rape and kill women the same as before, there's barely any women in CEO positions or in high political offices, our reproductive rights are being curtailed, we're expected to accept men as "real women" in our spaces... in other words, since the '70s, women's rights have been either at a standstill or steadily eroded, but pop/choice feminism is more "trendy" and makes it seem like things are fine.

The male entitlement that you can just enter any space you want and people there have to treat you 100% how you want to be treated. Even the TiMs who don't turn out to be rapists like this asshole have this entitlement that they don't actually have to put the work in or adjust to new social circles, it's the women who have to change and cater to them.

It's infuriating how the TiMs who respond to him are bitter about progressives not being "welcoming enough" to them, when these are the only women who'll even welcome them at all.

[–]meranii 36 insightful - 1 fun36 insightful - 0 fun37 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's a hallmark of irrational and self-obsessed people that anything that makes them feel bad, or even just uncomfortable, means the other person is automatically bad, malicious, an enemy. Nothing Olivia said was mean or even unkind or wrong, and they cannot actually point to anything specific, but they still freak out and say it's transphobic. Why? Because they feel it somehow is. Because a "terf" should not be allowed to speak at all. Anyone who disagrees with them and their worldview is not allowed to speak.

Notice how they needed to see Amy (who is firmly pro-trans) grovel and apologize over and over again? And it still won't be good enough, years down the line Amy's TRA "friends" will still bring up how she "gave terfs a platform". They enjoy putting the emotional thumbscrews on any women who need to be "punished" for stepping out of line.

That doctor never harmed or shamed the TiM patient in any way, in fact I think there was some real human concern for the patient. Finding a doc like that when I've had actual medical issues (that were not a choice like taking hormones because you're a guy who wants boobs) has often been difficult and the ones that take their time are a godsend.

TRAs are putting a lot of pressure on medical workers to just give them what they want and to never ask questions or give advice, all the while making appointment after appointment for their hormones. Honestly wish general practitioners could just opt out of wasting their time on gender-obsessed patients who clog up the system with elective stuff.

Indya Moore's modeling face always look like he's itching to break a woman's nose for not using his preferred pronouns (they/them, lol). Total trash.

Honestly, to harass women for men committing violence against transwomen, while dating someone you know to be violent? Indya is probably violent and messy himself and while I don't want him to be hurt or killed, transwomen really shouldn't act surprised when they go for known abusers who will fuck anything that looks sorta-female. But sure, it's still all women's fault, the narcissism doesn't allow for personal responsibility.

[–]meranii 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep, TiMs complain about supposed violence (mostly from tricking men into sleeping with them, who then react badly) they fear but women actually have gotten beaten up just for not approving of transwomen in their spaces.

I certainly wouldn't confront a TiM directly, I already know the guy is delusional and enjoys breaking boundaries. But I would complain and take my business elsewhere, hopefully there will still be alternatives. Sidenote, but maybe the whole "annoying Karen" thing is being meme'd so hard right now because they don't want women to complain to businesses either, and of course men in general love taking part in women-shaming for any reason.

I hope your heart heals, it's got to be awful to lose a partner of 3 years to this delusion. It's probably very painful right now but it will get better and you'll get over her. hugs Her internalized misogyny is super-unfortunate, but at least she didn't try to get you to accept her as a guy and make you re-define yourself as straight or bi.

Honestly, it's not unlikely that in a couple of months or years she'll detransition, once the shiny special-ness of her "new identity" wears off, and she'll (try to) come crawling back to you. Live your life, block her and move on if you can so you're free of any of her future drama, because I think she's clearly shown you she's not the one for you. You sound like a good person because you still have concern for her well-being but don't let her keep you on her backburner.

Good points but I do not agree with #4 being on the list. I'm skinny myself but it's mostly men and corporations that have systematically tried to shame women for fatness, and obesity (while it sucks for your health) and body positivity does not oppress anyone against their will, it doesn't have silenced victims like misogyny, sex work or trans mania. You can argue that parents overfeeding their children is abusive, but the article just complains that capitalism wants to sell stuff to obese women. In that sense any ad campaign is a lie and it should've been widened in scope (i.e. include makup-up, hair removal, dye to cover grey hair, etc., everything that tells us "natural" is not good/feminine/clean enough).

The pic of this "nurse" is creepy as fuck, this article is just someone's medical kink fantasy, right? Why would this person talk about "dirty dreams" and "blowjob fantasies" in the middle of an article about caring for their patients and checking their genitals? Oh ick, I just googled her, she's a comedian and actual ICU nurse. Imagine you wake up in that ICU after a car accident and that freak is grinning down at you.

Couldn't agree more. It's not more authentic, unless you're a brainless idiot you already know that women have stretch marks/cellulite/rolls/wrinles/hair on their body, it's just instagram advertising finding a new niche that they can wring some money out of. It's not aimed at men to get them to stop shaming women with unrealistic beauty standards (they're too busy jerking it to bikini pics of underage girls on insta anyway), it's aimed at insecure women who are more likely to spend their money with companies that give them the feeling they're "celebrating" their natural bodies. If this advertising trend doesn't work out for them they're right back to airbrushing everything.

I personally don't care if the models of the online shops I frequent have clear skin, cellulite or scars or whatever, but 99% of the models there are still size 00 and1.80m tall, I would actually appreciate if they had more average body types so the clothes won't fit completely different on 99.9% of their female customers. That would be a pragmatic change in my eyes.

To add to that, I'm convinced that this attempt to keep feminism toothless and palatable to the masses is in the interest of the status quo/patriarchy in general. Women that are dissatisfied with ongoing inequality and male violence can be turned toward this "easy, positive" feminism that soothes them with a loving community where they feel they are heard and never made uncomfortable. There, they are dissuaded from becoming radical feminists because "that's bigotry! transphobic! hateful!". This pop feminism is vastly supported by all sorts of corporations and politicians, because they like good little consumers, the last thing they want is difficult topics, disagreements or boycotts. You can't make money with unsexy concepts like "fight oppression on the basis of sex" or facts like "96% of prosecuted domestic violence is committed by men", but you can make money with things like rainbow-colored products and mindless entertainment that pays lip service to feminism.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but where did I say men don't do online roleplaying like that? They're AGP and they do. The episode took it to the next level in that the two men were actually able to have a form of tactile sex in their new identities. You and user Morningmist both replied to me with "but these men exist/they do this!" like we're in disagreement, so now I'm thinking maybe I phrased something wrong. My basic points were that the plot is dumb, it's all a male fantasy, and the woman in the episode "wins" by not being pathetic, haha.

Good article. I've felt more and more in the last 10 years or so (possibly it was going on long before then and I wasn't paying attention) how feminism online has devolved into this "feel good" hobby for women, where we complain about a couple of "simple" injustices, everyone agrees, it's very black and white, and on top of that we can buy "feminist" merch with cute "girl power!" slogans from all sorts of companies. I felt mildly uncomfortable about it before the TRA wave hit, but now the dark side of this pop feminism has really reared its lazy, shallow, male-pandering head.

It's not allowed to actually ask uncomfortable questions or express conflicts that go against the pop feminism trend. It's why people were so shocked when JK Rowling suddenly went against the approved flavor of discussion and actually in depth against one of the biggest current "trends" (which is to mindlessly post "transwomen are women <3" to a chorus of the same), because until then JK Rowling was seen as sort of a pop feminism icon: not at all radical, popular without question, she gave us nerdy-but-cool hermione (a girl being the sidekick is good enough, right?) and her rags-to-riches story seemed to signal the soothing message "women can do it all!".

Radical feminism has been turned into this dirty word, like it's now hateful in online feminist circles to not always seek male (clothed as women) approval for your "activism". If it can even still be called activism when mainstream feminism has been so neutered and commodified.

All the commenters with trans/pride flags saying "they're only detransitioning because they have unsupportive parents!". Total bullshit, first, they know nothing about these childrens' parents but of course screaming "transphobic" into the ether is their knee-jerk reaction to anything they dislike hearing, and secondly, how were the children out and living as trans if the parents were so unsupportive? A 13 y.o. girl can't transition on her own without the parents' help & money.

I just feel so bad for these kids who think they must perform gender to such a degree, whether it's their gender or opposite gender stereotypes. Must be exhausting, I remember very well how much peer pressure there was at that age, in our class almost every girl wore the same shoes and jeans and we were made fun of if we didn't have similar branded clothing. But at least it wasn't some arms race over who could be the most dysphoric or non-binary, lol.

The most pressing thing that I see weighing on you is your FIL basically sexually harassing you and the lack of support from your partner. My father was/is abusive and I cut all contact with him, despite my mother always badgering me to "just get along with him". [–]meranii 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

NB started a few years after intersectional feminism was misunderstood in woke online spaces as a privilege ladder. Young white progressive men and women wanted to ardently defend their beliefs, but according to their own beliefs they had so much privilege that they had to basically shut up about any social issue and let everyone else speak first.

But oh, that feels so wrong when one just wants to be seen and heard. How to be special and rebellious when there are millions like you out there? Being gay or lesbian or bi itself is too boring, being trans is too much for them. But what's this, you don't always feel like a stereotypical boy or girl? Nevermind that no one does, get an undercut, dye your hair, call yourself enby (it sounds totally cute, doesn't it?), now you're part of LGBTQ+.

A lot of TiFs have very strong internalized misogyny and, though they always deny it, it plays a large role in their transition and it's why they say "oh I always knew I wasn't like other girls!". When they transition they think letting that misogyny hang out makes them all the more manly, and they probably also bond with shitty bio men that way. TiFs are also generally completely uninterested in feminism or supporting women in general, they really try so hard to be "tough" bros.

I agree, insulting someone you're having a polite discussion with is wrong and I also really like this space and how we interact. Honestly, people being super-rude online and exploding in rage at minor disagreements is something I consider a "man problem", lots of dudes never learned to control their emotions and they quickly turn to hatred and threats when they get frustrated. We're not like that and GC being mainly female is a big reason, IMO.

That being said, I think it holds us women back when we always HAVE TO be polite and civil no matter what. I've seen inappropriate tone policing here a few times, and a couple of days ago I got a comment saying "this makes us all look bad" when I commented that a TiM (who had disseminated leaflets asking for TERFs to be punched in the throat) was just jealous of women's throats because he had a fat manly neck. Which, sure, isn't nice to say but this guy was literally instigating violence against women. I dealt with my anger at this by joking about his motives and I don't think we have to be perfect angels all the time. My opinion is also just my own, women are not a hivemind, if you don't like my comment it still cannot "make us all look bad".

TRAs will not give us an inch no matter how nice we are, and "the mainstream" barely cares about women's issues anyway. Early suffragettes fighting for their rights literally got into fist fights with men who wanted to stop them from protesting and extreme civil disobedience was a main tool in reaching their goals. Now of course this is a far cry from how we act toward each other, but we are not emotionless nice little ladies all having a tea party together. We are here because we're angry at injustice. Perfectly behaved fembots is how men want women to be, and we have to accept that things might get a little heated here sometimes.

/r/actuallesbians: the perfect place for all your trans related questions by [deleted] in GenderCritical

Lol, the people in that post acting like the OP just accidentally posted in the wrong place. We all know r/actuallesbians is basically a roleplaying forum for AGP men/transbians by now, you just can't give the game away by posting about your manly voice. That kills their "lesbian" boners, hahahah.

What a dumpster fire cuck-post by GCSeedling in GenderCritical

I think that's actually a transwoMAN posting as his sockpuppet fantasy girlfriend, no way an actual woman would say her crossdressing perv boyfriend is more female than cis women. "She" also has another post about her 13 y.o. sister coming out as a lesbian, saying it runs in her family, and posts a lot on r/actuallesbians, which is 90% trans by now. It's an AGP online roleplaying as a "lesbian" woman, which they do a lot to get off to.

Apparently TIMs never have male privilege even if they come out very late in life..... by bradjohnsonishere2 in GenderCritical

They argue that their "pain" of not feeling like the right gender means they never got to enjoy male privilege... which is such a blatant lie.

About your last point, that has never made sense to me either. TRAs go on and on about cis privilege and put down any supposedly cis person who dares speak up with a differing opinion, but how do they know that person is cis? What if that is actually trans person that hasn't had their public "coming out" yet OR is (like they always claim they can) already passing 100%? Any cis could be trans as far as they know. That's why TRAs want people to label themselves as cis vs. trans, so they can put them in the category they can instantly dismiss and talk over. And if you look on social media, it works, so many dummies loudly proclaiming how they're cis and apologizing for their "privilege" and pledging that transpeople will always come first.

TRAs trying to hide their racism and misogyny behind the "terf" label that they're trying to put on black women who don't bow down to their demands. Imagine thinking you're a victim of oppression while you call black women "beasts", "manly" and threaten them with your pathetic "feminine penis".

When a misogynistic 4chan troll turns TRA...

Is there a pic of the guy where you can see what he looks like? Because out of 100 trans "women" I've seen who were convinced they passed oh so perfectly, maybe one did outside of carefully posed and styled pics that they themselves put online.

Difference between LGB and TQ: gay people just want to be able to exist in private, TQ wants to be accommodated and centred at all times and for everyone to tiptoe around them. by RedditHatesLesbians in GenderCritical

Advocates for LGB issues in general don't trample women's rights, don't deny basic biology, don't fantasize about invading women's spaces and don't fundamentally ask you to change how you speak and think.

Ugh, I've encountered something like that online a few times over the years. Like someone would constantly refer to themselves as "it" and in the third person, saying stuff like "it doesn't deserve personhood", essentially pulling people into their humiliation kink by making them question why the person talked like that.

Sadly, all this will do is convince TRA that anyone who identifies as whatever will need to be handled with kid gloves even more, so if you say anything you're not just considered transphobic but automatically ableist.

Sex offender who identifies as young girl reveals just how dangerous self-ID is - The Post Millennial by joeytundra in GenderCritical

If self-ID worked and was an actual thing outside of the minds of some very disturbed individuals and TRA-enablers, we'd all self-ID us into immortal gorgeous famous billionaires. Maybe the earth could just identify out of climate change. And all the people who are ill in this current pandemic can just identify as healthy individuals whose lungs aren't failing.

I mean, I'm trying to joke about this topic because the article and everything about it (and the amount of suffering this monster's collection of CP is based on) make me wonder how else to even respond.

A bunch of narcissistic men arguing about women's lives like wearing dresses gives them the right to be any kind of authority on our experiences. I can't even put into words how uncomfortable it makes me when men like these have put so much effort into their "perfect sexy woman" disguise and look into the camera (with a dead-eyed stare and pumped up lips, open mouth) like they're human blow-up dolls. Appropriating (or attempting to, badly) womanhood while pandering to the male gaze for money, telling impressionable girls this is normal and what it's like to be a real woman.
