I might be going against the grain here, but I think it's a bit too soon to start fragmenting this newly formed baby sub. We are reorganizing and we need to stick together. I encourage other users to post more articles from their part of the world. We need to regroup and remake our large community first.

I understand that you might have different issues than I have in my culture in regards to your gender roles but it honestly just sounds like oppression olympics tbh. It would be so much better to address the issues of black women without fracturing the whole feminist movement.

I would feel more forgiving towards TIMs if they actually fought for women’s’ issues – free and safe abortion for all, equal pay for equal work, guaranteed paid maternal leave, justice for victims of assault/rape, as a few examples – but since their gender identity is an “expression of who they are” by veruscka8 in GenderCritical

This is exactly what I always thought. It's so obvious that they aren't actually women because if they were, they would want to fight for these things rather than dismantling actual women's spaces. They always out themselves in exactly this way.

I wish there was a sub where both men and women could discuss the issue. I know we hate men dominating our discussions but I am against alienating them from our cause. Men also peak. I wish they could discuss these issues with us and between themselves. I don't want to be like the SJWs who say sit down and shit the fuck up if you aren't XYZ.

How do you really feel about Joe Biden saying his VP pick will be a black woman? by medium_tomato in GenderCritical

Ok but whoever she is, it IS true that she isn't getting the position due to merit. Because of the history of politics, we have a huge amount of men in politics an a tiny percentage of women. Even tinier is black women. I dont want a stupid pandering interchangeable woman. I want a woman who is smart, capable, and is someone to actually look up to. The pool is far too small here, so that's why I am insulted. If we had like 50% men 50% women in politics, and like 50% of those women were black, then okay MAYBE I can be okay with this kind of pick, but he is literally picking someone purely on biology and skin color, that's like 1%, political views and experience be damned. I just can't support this at all...

Women are fucking capable. I don't want this pathetic infantalization of "ooh lets pick a woman so the little women will be happy and mindlessly vote for me". There is no such thing as the female vote. We are all different, and we can disagree even on this kind of specific sub.

I personally love this idea! As you said the title of the sub automatically pits one against the other. I think there is room for better discussion and I would love a place where TQs could ease into softly questioning the ideology instead of instantly being othered. There is definitely big possibilities here for both sides, since we have people like Blaire White speaking out against some of the toxic TRA ideology, as well as a lot of detrans people feeling like they can see both sides.

I actually don't mind this. I'm a new user and I waited until a few days ago to create my sub.

The reason they do this is probably to prevent this exact situation. Creating a new sub with zero content and zero users is hard. I'm basically spamming my own sub with a few new posts every day until I get some new participations. I think the mods just didn't want new people making reactionary subs with good topics just to give up on them quickly and leave them deserted...

You can support black people, lgb, and women's issues without them having to step on each other (or rather just women's issues).

Most of the GC crowd came to check out what all the "hate" is and would find reasonable non hateful posts with mostly reasonable people. That would make them realize that it is actually SJWs and TRAs that are very hateful and call for actual violence.. couldn't have that so hence the nuke.

Reddit is more misogynistic than here. This is a baby site compared to reddit. I would suggest you stay and help post content here that is the kind of content you want to see. Create and contribute to female centered subs, create and contribute to to an uncensored space until we have enough users to drown out the idiots with better posts.

I'm Jewish. I oddly enough almost appreciate the blatant open anti semitic posts because for most of my life I falsely thought we were way past this. It's important to see how real racism actually exists these days. When we pretend it doesn't exits and everything is perfect we get complacent and secure. People these days feel more free to be anti Israel because they think antisemitism is done and over with, but that is not the case.

When other people don't see actual racist speech towards groups they will say "what are you talking about?!! We solved this years ago?". On the other hand, I would really appreciate more interesting content here. I think if we have more interesting stuff and more commenters it might drown out the garbage in unrelated posts.

There sadly is not an inbetween on the internet anymore... This site has far too much antisemitism, and as a jewish person that's pretty tough to read when other sites have been wiped clean of that nonsense for a long time. But i just roll my eyes and move on to upvote the better comments. I think more positive content being posted on saidit, will eventually drown out a lot of the trash. Hopefully...

What mental gymnastics are you performing that you think I believe only while old men should be able to lead lmfao. I believe that women are strong and capable, and SHOULD lead but it should be deserved and not tokenism.

Women are not fucking interchangeable. Black women are not interchangeable. I will support a specific woman for the things she stands. I will not support some rando chosen just cause she ticks off the marks for being female and black. And the worst part is that the reason I won't support her is because some old white man chose her to check those marks and be interchangeable. That old white manbasically reduced her down to those qualities.

I actually feel like it might skew older than reddit at this point, 26-40 maybe. Just because of the big migration and us older people remember the wild west internet days and value free speech and good discussion. People in the 18-25 category are much more okay with no privacy, and blatant censorship. I started on reddit when I was 18, and am now nearly 30. Sadly there is a huge difference in 18 year old users today vs before.

Edit: just wanted to say that I am not looking down on the younger generation. Just sad for them that they were raised in the "real name" era of internet and their parents monitoring content. Of course plenty of the young people still value those things.

Your reply is exactly what I'm talking about here. First of all "white" is subjective, to begin with... I'm freaking Jewish, I am white by your standards but not white by a lot of other people's. And you don't know anything about me, what kind of culture I come from originally, etc. My parents and I came to a new country to avoid prejudice. You are the person speaking to some made-up white female strawman. I also never said or thought that people should minimize their backgrounds. If anything, you are minimizing a lot of "white" women's backgrounds by lumping in white. Go try that with Asians and see how they like it when you say Indian women's experience is the same as Japanese. This is what I mean when I say that this kind of racial intersectionalism is hurting all of us.

I want to create an alternative fashion sub. I just can't decide if I should make it more specific, or more general. I dabble in multiple styles and it would be cool to have a central place with all kinds of inspo.

Fashion communities tend to be jsut a little bit callous to outsiders who don't understand yet, and newbies who get their feelings easily hurt and can't handle that just because they want to be wearing a certain fashion, their first attempt doesn't quite make it. A lot of groups tend to become hugboxes which I want to avoid, but I also want to avoid toxic posts that bring people down about their looks, bodies, etc. Also certain types of alt fashion inherently clash, and sometimes fetishists try to co-opt innocent fashions. I would like it to not become a sub taken over by those types of people either... So I guess I'm not really sure how to balance free posting and keeping order.

Then in some states like California illegals that contribute nothing get special programs and get free fucking college. That's just not right at all.

The whole queer umbrella thing making an uncomfortable comeback is similar to me to the "people of color" thing. I can never bring myself to describe a person as "having color" or being a "person of color". It just seems so wrong on a fundamental level, and it also turns the world back into white and other categories. There is no such thing as people of color... There are people with different ethnicities and varying skin tones. Sometimes you can have two people from the same culture having vastly different skin tones. Does this make one a person of color and the other not??

There is just so much disgusting regressivism going on right now.

When Facebook became more mainstream I was appalled and confused at people openly using their first and last names on it, saying their city, school or work. It got even weirder when FB actually started requiring your real name vs made up names or whatever some years back. I have hope that the younger gen finally gets sick of everyone's policing, doxxing and getting fired and even college admissions being taken away just because of social media. Maybe we can all slowly turn it around..

I actually would have cared very much if it was just woman or white woman. Tbh that is my primary concern, the black thing is just kinda the cherry on top. It's super pathetic to me how he is trying to use a black woman to get him the "black vote" and the "female vote". Like I feel it would be even more demeaning to me if I was black in a way, or if he said he wanted a woman of my actual specific ethnicity.

I don't think that the 2 or 3 black women already in politics aren't hard working or qualified. I think it's just sad that their qualifications are being reduced to their race and sex, not even their stances.. don't you find that at least a little bit demeaning? Thanks! I like most kinds of goth. I have been meaning to add a bunch more alt subs into the sidebar, so thank you for the suggestion!

I remember finding out about "health goth" a few years ago and thinking it was kind of ridiculous. I think my main issue with it is the name, because I don't see anything healthy or gothic here. The only example out of yours that I think might be able to embody something more goth is this one..

All the others are just very basic sport styles, but in black. Black doesn't make something goth imo. Of course I am not even close to an authority on this but it just kind of rubs the wrong way, like the label doesn't fit. Unfortunately goth has been kind of taken and majorly watered down by the main stream these days.

I have read this before and absolutely love this essay! It explains so much of what happened or is happening with my favorite subcultures/hobbies/fashions. Look at how gothic influence is everywhere these days. High fashion brands that never used the aesthetic have been making some very goth shoes and pieces. Same goes with kawaii things now. On one hand it's kind of cool when your favorite stuff is suddenly everywhere and you don't need to search so hard for it. But on the other hand, it makes you wonder what happens when it goes out of trend. Something that is pretty timeless just got a timestamp placed on it.

For example Harajuku fashion styles have been around since decades ago. Then from the early 2000s they became a niche group in the west. Right now they are all the rage but suddenly something that was timeless because of how out of place it was everywhere became the 2010s fad. So if you got into it in 2000s and will still be in it way into the late 2020s you will now be labeled as stuck on 2010s.

And the west is starting to go backwards in that regard. So are we just going to ignore it until we don't have this mythical privilege anymore, and then we can focus on clawing our way back from oppression?

Thank you for this! Reddit (and Youtube, FB, etc) have been censoring a lot of coronavirus information from the beginning, so this is great.

First of all, wow you actually knew him! I have to admit I don't know much about him, other than the fact that I liked his music and my very goth friend showed me his Youtube a while ago. Having a very boring plain apartment at the time, it was definitely a cool thing to watch.

Second of all, I would never have guessed that cool backlit piece is from 2002! That is something that seems very in right now, so you were definitely far ahead of the curve. Now every youtuber is doing that whole backlit shelves thing.

This shit is honestly terrifying and makes me believe that the media is actually trying to create a civil war. For months they have been advocating for mail-in voting, but we can already see how awful it will turn out. New York's primary was on June 23rd and they still don't know who won. Ballots are being lost, mailed late, or not even arriving.

This is the perfect setup because it doesn't matter who actually wins neither side will believe it. I feel like I am once again watching the wreck in slow motion, like I did in Jan-Feb when coronavirus was just starting to spread.

We can't let these awful articles pit us against each other. If the gov't will put a double standard on protests, then fuck it, go out and vote in person. This is the only thing we can do to prevent the civil war the media is so thirsty to get.

I agree one hundred percent! Clothes are not an identity. But there are still so many different styles, especially ones that derivate from the norm. For me personally the reason I love alt fashion is not because it's other, but because I just couldn't find anything I liked in regular stores.

So people tend to often ask where this and that is from because they also love the same things. That's why I created this sub.

I think you nailed it when you said stories. One thing I loved about AskReddit is all the crazy stories people would post that come from a simple question. Now it's "what's your this thing story?". Not quite the same.

I can definitely see it being something of the sort and there is actual evidence. The WHO actually started the whole "masks don't work" lie in the early days. They also advocated against travel bans for god knows what reason. They have clear China ties and influence.

China didn't want to be the only country yet again fucked over by their own virus. So they made sure it spreads.

As a centrist I actually view Biden as pretty far left and crazy pandering to TRAs. Didn't he say that trans rights are the civil rights of our time? If he wins I can see TRA nonsense going federal. No thanks. As much as I hate Trump, he never made any actual policies against women. I still don't know who I will vote this year but it sure as hell won't be Biden.

I actually kind of dread that tbh. I love leaving my work at the office, having a space just for work and a space just for not work. I don't want to be 100% reachable at all times.
