Issue regarding the pornographic rule by HorseMeat in SaidIt

All it takes is one popular video posted on WPD 2.0, then BOOM!

Such as? I don't think that's true at all.

Sorry the porn policy is pretty set-in-stone at this point, you are correct

It should be allowed on the grounds that the sub moderator ensures the content remains within the 18+ range.

I don't want to spend all day keeping track of this and looking at porn, or keeping track of mods who have to do this. Also there is plenty of porn elsewhere on the internet. The internet is like half porn. Saidit is fine without it. It doesn't add anything valuable to the community, and in fact detracts in many ways.

It also makes perfect sense to not allow porn because it can easily be abused as an entry point to cause federal agencies to gain access to saidit, or shut down saidit. It is a tactical decision.

There are plenty of other sites that will cater to your porn needs, but saidit is not one of them.

Thanks wizzwizz.

I appreciate you all who are being real and honest and well-spoken, and responding to the real core of what your debate "opponent" is saying when you get in a disagreement.

I've already seen some great debates happening on saidit where all the different sides of an argument were being stated very clearly and articulately, and it's amazing how much I can quickly learn! This is what saidit is for.

Sometimes we'll get steamed when we disagree with someone, but only engaging with the highest-quality arguments makes the culture of mud-slinging just naturally die out from people simply ignoring it because we know it's not worth our time.

It's a subtle thing to truly grasp, but I see lots and lots of people on saidit who "get it" and I'm proud of the community we've all built so far.

You can talk to /u/JasonCarswell, he designed the CSS for that sub so you can take inspiration from his design.

Having a native upload function would be interesting, but would also demand a much beefier and more expensive server. We'll explore it as an option and think about it. Thanks for the idea.

Noam Chomsky calling out Christian Zionism in the US as the main reason the US supports Israel by magnora7 in WorldPolitics

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah I would be surprised if Christian Zionism is older the Jewish Zionism. I guess you could maybe argue it in the sense that Zionism didn't really have any power until the Christian monarchy of England approved it and began backing it and funding it. But still the ideology of modern Zionism originates from the Rothschilds in the 1800s as you say. But it also has roots that go way back thousands of years, they just revived it and put money and power behind it.

Similar to the Knights Templar. They were a huge organization in the 1200s, then basically died out. Then someone in the 1800s brought back the name as a secret fraternal organization, but it's not really related to the original organization. I think you could perhaps make a similar argument about Zionism, and maybe that's what he means about modern Zionism having Christian roots. Kind of still a bit strangely worded though on his part, I don't know

Yeah I mean he realizes he's walking hot coals anytime he even addresses that issue. But the fact he's calling out christian Zionism at all, by name, and tying it to US foreign policy, is a level of honesty very few others display. Especially people of his caliber and position.

But yeah he does dodge the issue sometimes. But the fact he actually openly pushes back against zionism instead of just kowtowing 100% to it, is a minor miracle.

Well we're not going to share all 61 at once because it shows all our vulnerabilities from a security standpoint. I think we'll release them about 10-15 at a time like we have been lately. But yeah I guess /u/d3rr could you please convert the roadmap release points here in to github issues, if it's not too much trouble: https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/kbk/saiditnet_april_17_2019_html5_expandos_now/

Yeah that's a great idea. We've long wanted a way to build a repository of sources for each post itself, that'd be really helpful. Comments can do that too, but to have some sort of formalized way to do it seems like it would be helpful.

I think that's kind of the point OP is making, I suppose. Given the title.

But eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. The moderate voices get lost in the noise if each side pretends the other side is represented only by their extremists.

But I also agree with the sentiment of OP that there have been a lot of things crossposted from voat lately that are basically "liberals are all dumb" memes and I don't like the bias.

However I'm not totally sure the mud-slinging of the OP is the best way to address this, but it certainly is getting attention

It's the most important thing because it gets an insane amount of funding, and kills millions of people. Everything else is small potatoes distractions by comparison. I don't want my tax dollars overwhelmingly going toward mass murder and imperialism. So yes, it matters the most.

Lol you honestly think we'd be a on a legitimately different track right now? We'd be on the same track with different window dressing. Still sending billions in military "aid" overseas used to kill tons of people we don't like, for profit.

We'd probably be also in a hot war with russia over Aleppo, because Hillary wanted to create a no-fly zone that Russia said would've definitely led to retaliation because of direct invasion.

We were given two terrible, terrible, options. By design. Military-industrial complex wins either way.

Lol as if the Democrat/Republican divide actually mattered and wasn't just a controlled opposition situation to give people the illusion of choice. If you only are inputting on bit of data in to the system every 2 years, you're not really doing much

Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit, are all complete jokes at this point. Anyone still using them and expecting any modicum of free speech is kidding themselves.

But also on another point, just because someone who speaks the truth is hated, doesn't mean someone who is hated is automatically speaking the truth.
