Businesses are not cruel. Companies are about voluntarily transactions.

Oh is that why all these major monopolies extinguish their competition through regulatory capture? They don't give a fuck about voluntary transactions. They just want profit by any means.

Also you keep generalizing all Americans as if we're some retarded hive mind that has no detractors. Two Americans built this website you're posting on.

Stop pinning a corrupt government and corrupt businesses on "Americans" who largely had nothing to do with having their rights stolen.

40x4500. It's very very wide, just in case someone has a very wide browser. But mostly only the left part is ever seen.

Is there a signal for auto-downloads? by FormosaOolong in AskSaidIt

[–]magnora7 2 insightful - 1 funny2 insightful - 0 funny3 insightful - 1 funny -  (0 children)

It's almost always a link... where have you seen any that go to files that download?

Anyway, the best is to hover over it with your mouse and in the bottom left of your browser it'll say the URL. If you look at the end of the URL, check for a file ending (like .zip or .mp3 or whatever) and if there is none then it's just a website. That's how I'd check. But hopefully this shouldn't be a problem in the first place?

And lastly downloading a random file will not hurt your computer. Only if you run that file after it's downloaded can anything bad happen. If you immediately delete it during or after download, nothing bad can happen.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Who believes in conspiracies? New research offers a theory by The_In-Betweener in ConspiracyHeadlines

[–]magnora7 1 insightful - 1 funny1 insightful - 0 funny2 insightful - 1 funny -  (0 children)

He started a sub called "Conspiracy headlines" where every single submission has the word "conspiracy" in it. If someone wanted to make saidit look like a conspiracy website to drive people away, that's how they'd it. Thing is a lot of the articles are legit. But some aren't and are just basically smear articles against conspiracy theorists, implicating saidit and its users by association... makes me uncomfortable tbh. It wouldn't be bad if the guy didn't post about it so much. I've contacted him directly and I'm going to see what he says. I don't want to censor anyone, but I also don't want this site to get taken over by a mountain of bullshit articles that dilutes any real discussion. It's a thin line.

Dollar slips ahead of widely expected Fed rate hike by magnora7 in finance

[–]magnora7[S] 2 insightful - 1 funny2 insightful - 0 funny3 insightful - 1 funny -  (0 children)

The Fed keeps hiking the rate, I'm sure they're generating an economic crash due to overpriced money. They're relying on indicators that are largely detached from reality to revise their interest rate decisions. They've created a bubble by having the interest rates at 0% for 8 damn years straight, and now that Trump is president they're going to ratchet it up until that bubble pops, then they're going to blame it all on him.

I'm not a huge Trump fan, but this seems to be so obviously coming down the pipeline. Then the democrats will be elected in response to this economic crisis that was "caused" by Trump, when in reality it was caused by years of deliberate Fed interest rate policy.

It's very upsetting when our entire economy is being jerked around as a political ploy. Millions of people lost their homes in 2008. The Federal Reserve was created in 1913 in order to stabilize the money supply, to prevent these constant boom-bust cycles, but in reality they haven't stopped and instead are now planned for by the Federal Reserve. And those who attach themselves to these cycles profit greatly, so there's a lot of incentive to continue the cycles. It's messed up.

Canada not making concessions needed for a NAFTA deal, says U.S. by magnora7 in WorldPolitics

This is what the media doesn't talk about a lot. They frame it as Trump being a jerk or something, but there are valid reasons to draw a line with friends. You can't let one friend take advantage of the other, that's not a friendship. A deal like this should benefit both countries, and I'm glad to have someone standing up for my interests (at least in theory, I probably won't personally see many benefits from this but his billionaire buddies sure will)
