Have you found men on lesbian dating apps? by Rage-Xion in LGBDropTheT

While it's not a lesbian app, I have found men on Tinder when it was set to lesbian and looking for women. My best friend who is a gay man did the opposite on Tinder and found women.

Probably not, haha. They've just been talking about unhinged shit like that recently due to the new child safeguarding laws, so I figured why not.

I decided to make two cards, the first focusing more on the parades and in-person events, the second for corporate, political, and Twitter nonsense. I went with the more general Rainbow cops and BLM.

Oh, yeah, Gay alcohol may not be super self explanatory. I'm referring to the fact that a lot of Pride events are sponsored by alcohol companies, like Absolut.

It's an anime from 2010 about two angels named Panty and Stocking (bio writer just doesn't know how to spell) who were kicked out of heaven for bad behavior. They team up with a black priest named Garterbelt and fight monsters in order to get back on heaven's good side.

It's pretty good but not for everyone. Lots of crude and offensive humor, the creators literally came up with the plots while drunk. It's unique in the way that they took a ton of inspiration from western media, the art style straight up looks like Powerpuff Girls.

I would say that I'm surprised this girl is into it but she's also got the manga Killing Stalking in her interests, something else that Tumblr hates.

would trans people accept that treatment if it made them feel better about who they were and their biological sex?

I fear this would be called an act of genocide by the brain-dead/brainwashed trans activist majority. So many of the trans movement's arch enemies hold the stance of these people are mentally ill and need help. I feel bad for them/I'd feel bad for them if they weren't so demanding. And somehow that is seen as the ultimate sin, even to many so-called "true trans" people.

[–]lunarstrain[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Using exposure therapy to treat it wouldn't make sense, since technically they are already exposing themselves every waking minute, by virtue of just being the gender they wish they weren't.

I've seen many self-identified transgender medically transitioning individuals who talk about certain interactions with other people "triggering" or "worsening" their dysphoria. I've seen too many videos of bleary-eyed transgender "men" after a supposed instance of "misgendering". That's the angle I'm approaching this from. Do you think that's a genuine portrayal of the condition? Or would you describe that as an AGP/AAP/Auto-Homo symptom? How much would you say external validation/recognition plays a part in a real case of GD?

IMO the real treatment for GD would be a thought-stopping cognitive therapy where they learn to stop the negative thoughts and focus their brain on things that actually matter.

I agree with this too, I just feel the intense emotions from supposed external gender dysphoric triggers could be lessened from Exposure therapy.

A. You can put your baby up for adoption, which I know can take a while but you can be a lot more involved with who your infant is adopted by if you choose to.

OR

B. You can just leave the baby at a goddamn hospital or some other Safe Haven location and they're legally required to sort out the rest without needing any of your involvement.

Might as well share something anecdotal but speaking as carpet muncher myself, I realized I was of the dykely persuasion at the age of 10. I wanted a girlfriend. My friend who is a homo says he began developing crushes on other boys at around the age of 8. Neither of us were diddled or even had gayness explained. While things may or may not be set in stone, I feel as if there may be earlier life developmental stages for those of who are homo inclined. I mean, wouldn't it still be gay if you wanted to kiss dudes all the time?

It's just dangerous to discuss such a thing with children with how easily influenced they are.

[–]lunarstrain 9 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, they do. It builds up around the same places this man is referring to. There's actually a female specific type of smegma, Smegma Clitoridis. Unlike smegma created by males, which partially functions as a lubricant (gross), female smegma serves no purpose and can actually cause genital pain if not cleaned via rinsing regularly.

For some reason very few women actually know this and continue perpetuating the myth that women don't produce smegma which only serves to hurt females in the long run, as it can lead to health issues and painful sex if not properly taken care of.

Settled - does ridiculously hard challenges in Old School Runescape.

SummoningSalt - does the history of speed running times for various games.

Josh Strife Hayes - is on a mission to find the worst MMO ever and has played dozens of ancient or forgotten MMOs. Also does video essays on video gaming in general.

WickedWiz - makes videos on games that were critically panned and tries to figure out what went wrong.

SilphSpectre - does monotype Pokémon hardcore nuzlockes (which translates to he plays Pokémon games with only one type of Pokémon, is not allowed to use items in battle, and if any of them faint, they're effectively dead and he can't catch another of that same species to replace them). I've only started watching him recently but he seems pretty chill.

I was one of the kids who was exposed to transgenderism and all of the stupid SJW radicalism when it was very niche via Tumblr at age 13. Messed me up for a few years, it wasn't until I started reading Kiwi Farms habitually in my later teens that I got my head on more straight and "peaked". I've gone through many different stances since then and ultimately I can't see "true" transgenderism as anything other than a form of mental illness. Not one to be demonized, but to be pitied. Sometimes I make rude jokes or rant out of frustration, they are a pretty unreasonable group of people these days, but when I am confronted with someone who is clearly very mentally ill, it's hard not to have some kind of compassion unless they're a truly awful individual.

I found John Money's papers on amputee attraction at the University of Otago, in Dunedin, New Zealand, shortly after the Falkirk story made the news. Money is an expatriate New Zealander, and he has deposited his collected manuscripts in the Otago medical library. I had come to Dunedin to write a book at the university's Bioethics Centre, where I'd worked in the early 1990s. I have a medical degree, teach university courses in philosophy, and write a fair bit about the philosophy of psychiatry, and I was interested in the way that previously little-known psychiatric disorders spread, sometimes even reaching epidemic proportions, for reasons that nobody seems fully to understand. But I had never heard of apotemnophilia or acrotomophilia before the Falkirk story broke. I wondered: Was this a legitimate psychiatric disorder? Was there any chance that it might spread? Like Josephine Johnston, a lawyer in Dunedin who is writing a graduate thesis on the legality of these amputations (and who first brought the Falkirk case to my attention), I also wondered about the ethical and legal status of surgery as a solution. Should amputation be treated like cosmetic surgery, or like invasive psychiatric treatment, or like a risky research procedure?

Reviewing the medical literature, one might conclude that apotemnophilia and acrotomophilia are extremely rare. Fewer than half a dozen articles have been published on apotemnophilia, most of them in arcane journals. Most psychiatrists and psychologists I have spoken with—even those who specialize in paraphilias—have never heard of apotemnophilia. On the Internet, however, it is an entirely different story. Acrotomophiles are known on the Web as "devotees," and apotemnophiles are known as "wannabes." "Pretenders" are people who are not disabled but use crutches, wheelchairs, or braces, often in public, in order to feel disabled. Various Web sites sell photographs and videos of amputees; display stories and memoirs; recommend books and movies; and provide chat rooms, meeting points, and electronic bulletin boards. Much of this material caters to devotees, who seem to be far greater in number than wannabes. It is unclear just how many people out there actually want to become amputees, but there exist numerous wannabe and devotee listservs and Web sites.

Like Robert Smith, I have been struck by the way wannabes use the language of identity and selfhood in describing their desire to lose a limb. "I have always felt I should be an amputee." "I felt, this is who I was." "It is a desire to see myself, be myself, as I 'know' or 'feel' myself to be." This kind of language has persuaded many clinicians that apotemnophilia has been misnamed—that it is not a problem of sexual desire, as the -philia suggests, but a problem of body image. What true apotemnophiles share, Smith said in the BBC documentary, is the feeling "that their body is incomplete with their normal complement of four limbs." Smith has elsewhere speculated that apotemnophilia is not a psychiatric disorder but a neuropsychological one, with biological roots. Perhaps it has less to do with desire than with being stuck in the wrong body.

Yet what exactly does it mean to be stuck in the wrong body? For the past several years I have been working with a research group interested in problems surrounding the use of medical interventions for personal enhancement. One of the issues we have struggled with is how to understand people who use the language of self and identity to explain why they want these interventions: a man who says he is "not himself" unless he is on Prozac; a woman who gets breast-reduction surgery because she is "not the large-breasted type"; a bodybuilder who says he took anabolic steroids because he wants to look on the outside the way he feels on the inside; and—perhaps most common—transsexuals whose experience is described as "being trapped in the wrong body." The image is striking, and more than a little odd. In each case the true self is the one produced by medical science.

At first I was inclined to think of this language as a literal description. Maybe some people really did feel as if they had found their true selves on Prozac. Maybe they really did feel incomplete without cosmetic surgery. Later on, however, I came to think of the descriptions less as literal than as expressions of an ambivalent moral ideal—a struggle between the impulse toward self-improvement and the impulse to be true to oneself. Not that I can see no difference between a middle-aged man rubbing Rogaine on his head every morning and a man whose discomfort in his own body is so all-consuming that he begins to think of suicide. But we shouldn't be surprised when any of these people, healthy or sick, use phrases like "becoming myself" and "I was incomplete" and "the way I really am" to describe what they feel, because the language of identity and selfhood surrounds us. It is built into our morality, our literature, our political philosophy, our therapeutic sensibility, even our popular culture. This is the way we talk now. This is the way we think. This is even the way we sell cars and tennis shoes. We talk of self-discovery, self-realization, self-expression, self-actualization, self-invention, self-knowledge, self-betrayal, and self-absorption. It should be no great revelation that the vocabulary of the self feels like a natural way to describe our longings, our obsessions, and our psychopathologies.

This leads to larger questions about the nature of identity. What prompts people to conceptualize themselves as amputees? And at a time when identity seems so malleable, when so many people profess uncertainty about who they really are, is it possible that the desire for this particular identity might spread?

There's a lot more than just this but wow.

I have never seen anyone, in my life, refuse to recognize the Final Fantasy series as games. These sound like niche arguments on dumbass subreddits or something. It's also stupid to say that because a plot is lighter in tone it's more attractive to teenage girls. Teenage girls are the ones watching shit like Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale, and various true crime docuseries, and writing dark!AUs of shit like Undertale where Flowey rapes Toriel at gunpoint. Completely misunderstanding the demographic you are whiteknighting for, very cool.

I also don't understand why people are still going off about "misogynistic" gamers in the year of our Lord 2022. Fetishism and consumerism.

You're a teenage girl and you get off on fictional gay men, so much so that you wish you were one, and that has become a foundational part of your sense of self due to weirdo internet leftist ideology being so hortative of make believing and deviancy. You're also very into fandom and because young people are overwhelmed with how much content is easily accessible and not encouraged to develop any meaningful skills, including socially, or hobbies outside of media consumption, what you're currently consuming is also a significant part of your sense of self and how you relate yourself to others.

This is how you end up with an unholy marriage of these two aspects that borders on a manifestation of some kind of mental illness, that we are all forced to witness when we dare look up our favorite TV shows, books, and movies.

[–]lunarstrain 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is a tough one. The way I personally chose to handle it is to go cold turkey with social media, I've been relatively happy with the results but I know this isn't the right choice for everyone. I just couldn't handle how grating it was, interacting with all of those TQ+ people.

There is a middle path, but you'll still have to sacrifice your relationships. You distance yourself from those other artists and turn off all notifications, keeping the people of the internet at arm's length. You'll still benefit from having a place to share your art and using these people to further your career. I don't know if I'd recommend it but I feel it's worth mentioning.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, I hope you have good luck no matter what decision you make.

What's funny is that there have been at least a few killers who have talked about how their mothers forced them to dress as girls, either because she wanted a girl instead or she wanted to make him suffer. But, of course, acknowledging the trauma of having zero bodily autonomy and receiving severe ridicule from peers is actually transphobic and basically a hate crime. Except, however, when it's them talking about how hard it was to wear boy clothes as a child.

It's gotten arguably even worse than when I was a teenager. This stuff really messes with your head, I went from being so certain and comfortable with myself to being utterly confused within a year. I know now that for me it basically went:

Straight -> bi -> lesbian -> straight (in the form of many stupid labels) -> "trans inclusive lesbian" (bi) -> lesbian

It forced me back into the closet but it was somehow me finding my true self. I tried really hard to muster up any attraction to men at all, including estrogenized men. I felt so much guilt about it that I attempted DIY conversion therapy. So stupid.

What future does LGBDTT have (and perhaps even SaidIt), now that Cloudflare has dropped KiwiFarms? by NutterButterFlutter in LGBDropTheT

Do we have a chance to survive if another terminally online TIM throws their users at us, at SaidIt, or at CloudFlare?

Depends on how big the campaign is, honestly. Kiwi Farms had rumors floating around that they had been responsible for the death of multiple TIPs for years now, not true but a very seductive lie to a lot of the internet. That helped make it all the much more simple to remove them. The site we're on right now doesn't have that great of a reputation, but nowhere near as universally hated by TIPs.

It also helps that Drop The T is an actual movement, meaning we have in-person groups, too. So whatever happens to us online, it won't put a stop to our organizations and get togethers. Oh, and the dark web is always an option, not difficult to set up a very basic forum on an .onion site if necessary.

The creator planned Toph as a man...

..so maybe it was early woke propaganda.

I'm not a big enough fan to follow the behind the scenes stuff so I'm not sure if you're just joking about the theater scene or if she was originally going to be a male character, but...

Could have just been a natural change during the creative process, y'know? Parents tend to be more protective over their daughters which fits well with her being so severely sheltered. Just a random guess, no idea what their actual inspiration was, may have been for sex diversity's sake (pandering) after all. Never liked the school of thought where you /have/ to include an equal amount of girls in your main cast.

At the very least, I'd say she's a well written tomboy character and I'm glad they didn't try to make her gay in Korra. I never liked The Legend of Korra very much, the writing sucked comparatively, didn't even finish it.

Toph never acted like the "disabled girl", she was always cracking jokes about being blind, often at other people's expense. She'd probably be offended if you referred to her like that.

Plus, her blindness is a totally reasonable in-universe explanation for her awesome abilities, with her learning such advanced Earth bending from moles. It's not some shitty pandering or barely thought out plot point.

The difference is Toph has depth, doesn't take herself too seriously, and isn't invincible.

The game Reigns that came last decade has that sort of thing, too. You're a king and you have to manage 4 bars representing the church, the common people, the army, and your finances, if any of them run out or get too high, you are either killed or excommunicated. The whole game is random events and sometimes you can just get irreversibly screwed by bad luck through no fault of your own.

It's excellent, imo.

[–]lunarstrain 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, games are substantially easier now. I say that as a 20-something gamer who enjoys games both new and old. However, I'd say the difficulty for 80s/early 90s games was at least sometimes artificially inflated, especially in the case of adventure games and RPGs. The instructions are often very cryptic and the solutions annoyingly abstract, likely to help pad out the game time. Oh, and don't get me started on the ways you could accidentally soft lock yourself.

I recently played through 1989's Mother with the original difficulty and I would definitely have not been able to beat it without a guide unless I was willing to dedicate an unreasonable amount of time to figuring every little thing out, and perhaps restarting a few times because I accidentally got rid of quest items while trying to work with the very limited inventory space. Oh, and the only NPC who gives you hints will permanently disappear if you don't immediately buy her first ridiculously expensive hint. Was hilarious to watch, though.

The point is that even in video games now, there is almost no way to permanently lose.

I would agree if not for the popularity of Roguelikes/Roguelites. A lot of people love games like The Binding of Isaac, Enter The Gungeon, Nuclear Throne, Risk of Rain, Downwell, etc. Some of the procedurally generated Survival games, like Don't Starve, also have permadeath. Although, with their difficulty it's clear that they're created with more seasoned/dedicated gamers in mind, minus Downwell which is more for Gameboy Color fans.

Anyone else thought of the growing number of books with queer characters, LGBT themes becoming more common in YA, etc.?

Not books but they may as well be vaguely interactive books.

I was watching a video earlier today about the upcoming game-adjacent-thing We Are OFK (peak nu-leftist drivel) and that lead me to watch videos about other similar mistakes like Goodbye Volcano High ("queer" furry/scaley visual novel), and Life is Strange: True Colors (woke attempt at superhero/mystery where the main heroine's power is... empathy).

Any of you came across these titles or any similar?

I've heard of Call Me By Your Name (but I imagine a lot of people have) and Carry On, but I avoided them for obvious reasons.

I've read the summary for Detransition, Baby twice and both times blocked it out because it was the most AGP thing I'd ever read. Can't begin to tell you what it's actually about for the life of me beyond like, fucked up fetishism. Oh, and there's some book about men turning into monsters but MTFs being exempt because they take estrogen and an evil terf military.

Oh fuck, I also remember reading the Jem and the Holograms comic reboot that Sophie I love little children Labelle helped with. It sucked so bad. I'm still mad that a child predator and friends ruined such a fun, stupid, campy series.
