I guess from their perspective, they're not sure what you're capable of, and don't trust you as an adult to let them know when you need help and when you don't, even though you're aware of your limitations and would let them know. It's frustrating, to say the very least.

Comorbidity is common (most autistic people have some degree of anxiety/depression at the very least), but I'm sceptical when everyone and their mother has autism, especially when I'm unable to see their full body language and only see exaggerated TikToks (always fascinating that they always have their camera on and filming when they're showing overtly autistic behaviours, hmmmm). Someone like Chris Chan was closely monitored, so it was easy to pick out that there was something different about him.

I'll note my mum is GC, so she wouldn't have let me transition, but still, there would be a ton of social pressure on her regardless.

And you're right. Most people, especially if they're women, tend to manage well enough not to get diagnosed until adulthood. My rule of thumb are people who put autistic followed by a plethora of other conditions in their Twitter bio are usually not autistic; they might've felt socially awkward once in their life, but that's about it.

I would've been in the same boat had I been born later. One of the major issues too is that autistic kids (and parents) will jump on the bandwagon of an explanation for why autistic kids feel different, and some parents would welcome the idea of sterilising their chil- I mean affirming their child's gender through 'gender' reassignment surgery.

But the fact that anterior and posterior is used means someone can identify not just as older but younger as well. The extent of how younger or older doesn't seem to be clear from what little I could understand.

They've never felt shame for liking the opposite sex, and doing mental gymnastics so that they're 'gay' and 'lesbian' and therefore should feel shameful doesn't count (and I doubt they actually feel shame, since they know no matter what, people will sing their praises and encourage their fetishisation).

I think it might also be the prevalence of co-mordbidities in autistic people. Most have some kind of mental depression or anxiety (I certainly do), not to mention social isolation that may be as a result of the co-morbidities or because of our difference in behaviour.

As a result, when they see how accepted and championed trans people are, and add in a dash of autistic gender-nonconformism due to not having an inherent feeling of what is expected of X or Y gender, they're easily sucked into the ideology since they think they'll finally belong somewhere and understand themselves better.

I personally thought I was genderfluid and demisexual for a hot minute in high school, and even thought at one point that I was a trans man because I preferred to wear men's clothing, which is generally more comfortable than womenswear. I fear for the me who might've been born ten years later, where I would've told that yes indeed I was a transman and I would've damaged myself beyond repair.

Also being autistic could contribute to your non-comformity (I think I recall you mentioning you were a while back, as am I)? In other words, we don't have that innate sense of 'this is how a woman should behave/this is what a woman should wear', and therefore we do as we like, and tend to lean towards the practical, i.e. looser men's clothing, STEM, etc, which happen to be more masculine.

However, they generally tend to keep their genitals intact (since they can go back to being straight when this is no longer popular), as opposed to homosexuals who tend to be more likely to remove their genitals as they genuinely believe they'll be happier as "straight" people.

Not to mention there's no other mental health condition that exists that requires surgery to fix; you don't fix anorexia with liposuction, even though people who have it believe they are overweight. Also keep in mind that lobotomies were revolutionary at the time.

I have a bi girlfriend, and while she is into the genderwoo/TRA nonsense (has a non-binary friend), it never really comes up and I don't go out of my way (nor does she) to bring it up, so I'm pretty happy, tbh. We get each other's weird jokes, love/debate movies all the time, and I'm really glad I met her.

I would honestly use this as a gotcha with TRAs. Say: "hey, I saw this really gross joke online from a comedian", make sure to use gender neutral pronouns, and see what reaction you get; see if they say 'ugh, men are disgusting'. Then show the video and watch them bend over backwards to justify it.

Mine was the same at first, but she gave up when she saw I preferred comfier/practical clothing over dresses/skirts. She's definitely been more understanding since I got my diagnosis, but will still point out if something I'm wearing isn't appropriate for X or Y situation.

They honestly should be called out, but it's difficult to prove they're not when all you have is text and images. You often need to see video footage to be able to pick up on the familiar behavioural cues, and even then it could be faked if they've seen how an actual autistic person behaves.

There was some kind of research done, pre TQ-boom, although it could've just been conflation with gender-nonconformity in autism.

Even a lot of autistics don't want them because they've marginalized us.

Exactly. There's also the fact that autistic people have a higher chance of being LGB compared to neurotypicals, which means all this genderwoo has led many to transition due to pressure from parents/caregivers/therapists/peers.

If it's Glen/Glenda, that was a character introduced in Seed of Chucky, which came out a good 13 odd years ago, if not more. It was a nod to the Ed Wood movie Glen or Glenda. At the time, it wasn't virtue signalling, I think it was a split personality thing more than anything.

[–]lovelyspearmint 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Especially when you have those folks whose attraction "magically" turns off when someone comes out to them. Like you were perfectly capable of it five minutes ago, don't tell me that's not related to transphobia in any way.

That's not transphobia though. There is a specific term called a 'turn-off' in terms of attraction. As in, if you see someone behave some way, or you receive information that changes the way you see someone, you might not attracted anymore. For example, if I found someone attractive, then found out that they're my first cousin, or biological sibling, the attraction that was there will be gone. Same goes for deception. If someone hides a part of their identity to seem more desirable, of course attraction may dissipate if the other person finds out that they were not upfront about this detail.

Edit: Used the wrong term for deception
