Tulsi Gabbard: The impending slaughter and ethnic cleansing of the Kurds in northern Syria by Turkey is happening because Trump refuses to end our efforts to overthrow the Syrian government by littlepinkhouses in politics

[–]littlepinkhouses[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Israel doesn't outright back the Kurds but there have been a number of friendly overtures in both directions. If regional geopolitics were slightly different I could see an alliance forming. The Syrian Civil War has been ongoing for over eight years now with a number of twists and turns. There's no telling what the next eight years will bring.

The lowest level on the pyramid of debate is advocating violence which is not the same thing as inciting hatred. Obviously hatred can often lead to violence but just as often it doesn't. They're not the same thing. There should be some consideration given to allowing people to express their true feelings instead of bottling it up. Think about why the American government allows KKK marches and even provides police protection for them. It's better for everybody to have the light of day shining on it. And if it's not going to be allowed then the rule should be clearly spelled out in the terms.

[–]littlepinkhouses 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is the perfect sub for discussion of saidit. The admins already work really hard on saidit for free so it's important to prioritize suggestions with as much consideration as possible. Are you suggesting that the sidebar functionality that exists for subs to be added to profiles? If you create a sub then it will be listed on your profile and you can post links to threads from there. What advantages does your suggestion have compared to this method?

Well said. Some people suck on some subs for some people. The whole trick to making saidit shine is to go into your preferences and clear out all your subscriptions and then regularly browse the all/new tab to find find and subscribe to subs that are a fit for you.

Content on the Home tab by SierraKiloBravo in SaidIt

[–]littlepinkhouses 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Filtering subs is probably the most important issue to ensure the growth of saidit at the moment. Browsing the posts on the new tab is a great way to find and support subs that you are not subscribed to. The manual filtering is great but there just needs to be a way to make it readily available to the average user. Perhaps there can just another tab where subs that have immigrated to saidit with an already strong community can be listed at the top but all their posts are excluded from the lists of posts.

The whole chat performance bottleneck is probably the second most important issue so we all really appreciate your hard work on it. Maybe it just needs to have a button that the user clicks before it gets enabled on the page. That would let pages load without the delay of waiting for chat to load but still make it easy to access.

Another issue that was raised during this latest immigration was the conflict between magnora7 and SolarEclipse about the asianfemalehate sub. I think there's some grey area and a slippery slope against free speech. We just need to have the rule carefully thought out to allow as much freedom of speech as is pragmatic and then have the rule and its parameters clearly spelled out. Thank you again for all the hard work you put into saidit.

I agree that the response must be well thought out and carefully designed so as to not slide down the slippery slope of censorship. Today's posts directly advocated for slavery and pedophilia. These both violate the human rights of the victim. That violation is uncivil even when the victim is hypothetical in nature. A good solution would be to have a rule that such advocacy is inherently uncivil and is therefore forbidden.
