Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse where a person or group makes someone question their sanity, perception of reality, or memories, dumbass. You telling me that "no one worships science" when I say I've seen multiple examples of it is a form of gaslighting. Your opinion about the stupidity of religion has not a goddamn thing to do with anything I've said, you're just a pissant little child who can't deal with someone pointing that some atheists(whom you worship) are idiots.

You don't even know what I think about ANY religion, you dumb POS. You're mindlessly chanting things you've heard people say online that you think make you sound smart. They don't.

What I don't agree with is that everyone who invokes the name of "science" is understanding it that way.

I thought there's no such thing as "masculine" or "feminine" brain?

So if a man acts like a stereotypical man and also likes taking it up the butt(or insert any other activity done with another man), is he lying about being gay? Putting on an elaborate performance for his entire life to talk "manly" and fix cars or w/e? Like, really, what is your point here? Stereotypes do exist. The more logical explanation, imo, is that it's almost entirely cultural, since we also see stereotypes in cultural groups that have nothing to do with sexuality or "brain sex". A woman has a woman brain, a man has a man brain. Whatever activities they choose to engage in are called their personality.

You should note that I put "reason" in quotes, to suggest that the people doing this were in fact, not being reasonable. Worship of "science" is dangerous when you aren't looking at all the facts(or not even looking at the actual facts), or twisting evidence to conclusions you want to believe in. A person doesn't have to call that a particular religion to still do it. The fact is, quite a few "skeptics" call themselves trans-inclusive, without any indication they understand the irrationality of it. I'm pleasantly surprised Dawkins wasn't one of them.

[–]lefterfield 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You are obsessed with this well beyond what is normal and healthy. These people have nothing to do with transgenderism, and you're using them as a tool the same way the trans cult does. Not everyone has access to DNA tests, ultra sound, MRI, or w/e for their kids, and mandating it is authoritarian bullcrap that would be useless and unnecessary for 99.99% of all people. So no, that's completely ridiculous.

Admit you're defending "gender identity" agenda in a gender critical sub using a bunch of "disorders".

"A bunch of". Nope, just one, sweetheart. CAIS. Not DSD. Not every possible disorder of sexual development anyone could have. Not transgenderism. Not gender identity. Nor have I defended the need for ANY person with a DSD to play women's sports. Admit you're a lunatic fixated on a tiny fraction of people with a medical condition.

[–]lefterfield 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Are they CAIS, though? I'm really not sure, and there's a lot of other DSD conditions they could have. Most of the pictures I've seen of CAIS individuals, they look like women. Regardless, I think there's an argument to be made that they shouldn't play in women's sports. Appearances aside, they aren't the same as women and their overrepresentation in many sports would make me suspect they have an unfair advantage.

[–]lefterfield 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No one encountering most CAIS individuals would mistake them for men. Many of them may not even be aware of their condition until puberty, or later. It is an irrelevant point to keep harping on and to keep comparing to other nonsense like "identifying as other species" - that is incredibly offensive. These people have a genetic defect, they are not insane. And DSDs are not an "arbitrary" exception. They are usually identified as females at birth. I don't give a fuck what they "identify" as, their doctor can make the determination better than you or the voices in anyone's head.

They are genetically male. Admit that you're making insane, offensive comparisons because you have no legitimate argument or nuanced understanding of DSDs, or shut up and go away.

[–]lefterfield 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You need to make sure you really know the subject before you start lecturing others. CAIS individuals do not have penises. They should be considered as their observed sex at birth, or whichever sex they were raised as, except in the case of sports, as said by another poster.

Are CAIS male or female? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]lefterfield 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They are genetically male, correct. If they have penises, they are 100% male, and I don't think that's even CAIS any longer.

Them not having ovaries is irrelevant. How they should be accepted socially should be based on the degree to which they resemble women, externally. If a particular individual would rather be known as male despite having some form of vagina(usually shallow or disconnected) I don't care, that's his problem. It's women's spaces that need to be kept free of men with penises or the clear appearance of being men. Really, it comes down to how a doctor 'identified(accurate in these cases)' them at birth. That is their sex, for all practical purposes.

Why are you arguing about these trivial edge cases? This has nothing to do with transgenderism.

But seriously, this whole idea of "inclusivity" whether it's of words or groups - inclusivity is not a virtue. The only time it should apply, virtuously, is when talking about legal protections. In all other contexts something has value due to its "exclusivity." Sports excludes bad athletes and cheats. Social groups exclude anyone who isn't a member of that group or an enjoyer of the hobby. Relationships exclude everyone else on the planet. The exclusion gives these things value and meaning.

But if more black women saw what many trans-identified men think of them as aka don't really consider them women because they aren't white women, I feel like they'd sooner see how misogynistic and racist the ideology is.

So much this. I'm white, but I've never been confused about whether a black woman was really a woman. It's the sort of thing where raising the argument says more about the ones making it than the argument itself.

the trans thing seems to be more of a white thing then a black thing because black people have "culture".

I'm not sure I agree with this claim, nor that it's the reason why we see more white transbians than black. Imo, "white" in the US has been coded as "American" - mind you, that's not how I think it should be, just an observation. Because it's nonsense anyway, so many traditions in the south that are coded as 'black' are also just 'southern' traditions that I grew up with. Part of that is because of slavery, but also just as a rule of human society we adopt culture from those around us. And it went both ways, black Americans don't have the same culture as black Africans - the former has American culture and the later has African culture.

Anyway, white people have culture. I think the difference is that white middle/upper-class suburban culture IS tied in with seeking equality/fairness/justice for everyone and blaming themselves for all the world's woes. Working class white people don't have that culture, and neither do poor, rural, or inner city white people - but generally the Powers That Be care as much about Those Whites as they do about black people who don't toe the party line. So we don't hear about the white or black or other races who reject this nonsense. The only people who matter are those who have made it part of their culture(upper/middle class whites) - because they're the useful idiots for the establishment.

I agree that it's possible the homophobia in many black dominated spaces is why it's the gay black men who tend to transition, though. And it makes sense that this is why more black women see transgenderism differently(although my impression was that more than a few of them think it's complete nonsense and aren't afraid to say so?).

How about you do some research? You've done nothing but spout talking points with no thought, reason, or facts to back it up. Covid is in the animal population now. NO AMOUNT OF HUMAN VACCINATION will prevent it's spread among deer, wildcats, wolves, etc, etc etc. I didn't have to be a genius or a virus expert to notice that little factoid and draw a conclusion. And for all you or anyone else knows at this point, it was the vaccine itself that caused all those variants.

I get that, really. But I don't believe anymore that the officials pushing 'mask mandates' are doing it because of valid data that it prevents/fights covid infections. The masks in particular, there's never been strong evidence that they do much, and "typical use" by the average person(keep reusing a single dirty mask they keep waded up somewhere in the car) is negligible at best and actively harmful to the person's health at worst. So why the mandates? And what number of vaccinations will be enough? I went along with it back when it first hit and it did seem like a serious threat. Now I'm just tired of the constant shifting goalposts and genuinely POSITIVE signs of it subsiding that are being ignored by the media/government. So I agree with everything you're saying here, I just think the blame needs to be on those in power.

so you're comparing a law that prevents you from harming and unnecessarily risking the life and health of others, to a law that only prevents you from unnecessarily risking your life and health.

That's really sad but understandable from a nine year old's perspective. I had a pregnancy fear, of a sort, as a child. I got the impression that when women marry, they immediately start having babies and have to spend all their time at home raising them. I'm not really sure why - my own mother was the bread winner in our family, and worked a full time job while getting her master's AND doing most of the child raising. Still, I very much wanted to travel(still do) and feared that if I got married or had children it would be impossible.

I think this is one of the most difficult conversations to get right with kids. It's not good to over-explain things they don't yet have questions about, but letting them work it out for themselves can lead to a lot of misconceptions, as in your story. I'm not sure what the answer is, but thank you! It's an interesting perspective.

Do fathers of babies just walk into women's bathrooms and change their baby's diapers in there? I could've sworn that the only time this may happen is if the bathroom is a family bathroom no?

I don't know if it's a thing, but I can say in almost 40 years of life, I have never, anywhere, seen a father do this. They always use the family restrooms. I wouldn't oppose them doing it, though, if they had no other options. And they should have other options! The only time I can remember a male being in the women's restroom(for legitimate reasons) was an elderly couple where the husband was in a wheelchair and quite obviously dependent on the wife. And also a place with no family restrooms.

Well, I've been reading a lot of dog training videos lately. Aggressive dogs tend to be those who lack confidence - they feel they have to attack first to defend themselves. We as humans recognize the threat as nonexistent, and the solution is to give the dog more confidence, or to engage the thinking part of their brain when the "threat" appears. I don't believe male aggression and dog aggression are that different.

They have no real problems but want to feel special, feel like they're good people engaging in noble work to make the world a better place - and they don't care that the reality looks nothing like that. They're narcissists. And since they don't really believe in anything beyond power, it doesn't matter that their "beliefs" are contradictory, nonsensical, sexist, pedophilic, racist, etc etc. So long as they can continue to garner attention for themselves and yell at anyone who isn't "centering" them, all is right with the universe.

Are penis and clitoris the same things? Are penises large clitorises, and clitorises small penises? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]lefterfield 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Ok. Let's pretend for a moment that penises are really the same as vaginas, just in a different form. I mean, after all, brain tissue originates from the same clump of cells that eventually diverges to create a penis too, so clearly penises are also brains. And arms, and hearts, and spinal cords, and your big toe. Just an entire body of penises. Males and females. All from that handful of cells.

Assuming that my ridiculous but congruent-to-tra-arguments comparison was accurate, it is still in no way meaningful. To have any sort of useful scientific and medical knowledge of what a brain and penis actually IS, and how they are DIFFERENT, you need to analyze the structure of organs 1. As they are, and 2. As they are intended to be in a healthy body. How they developed is not necessarily relevant to either question. Now apply the same logic to penises versus vaginas, or literally any other thing that is made up, ultimately, of cells. Biology does not have to form entirely new structures, wholecloth, in order for the differences in one type of bird to be vitally important in distinguishing it from another type of bird. The same way that every word in the English language is made up of the same 26 letters.

Calling a penis an "inverted clitoris" is a grossly simplistic and absurd take on a complex developmental process. It is "true" only in the loosest sense that they developed by the same process that gives us every other organ in our bodies, and they happen to wind up in the same general location. It tells you no useful or relevant information about either completed structure, the associated medical risks, nor their functionality.

It is moronic, scientifically ignorant, and based solely around a political ideology that is both. Why would we call them the same? Why would anyone, outside of idiots and lunatics?

a sexy female outfit is something that looks stylish and something that you could see a woman who happens to like having sex appeal in her look wear.

I could agree with this. I think more important than the clothes themselves is the choice behind it: Why does this character dress this way, how does it reflect their personality? If it doesn't, or if there's no thought to it, then that's just eye candy for men. I like the example of Buffy. Overall it was a good show, with a few maybe questionable episodes(for many reasons other than sexualization).

Personally what it comes down to for me is 'balance'. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with women wanting to look good or "sexy", and I don't think society will ever have identical beauty standards for men and women. I'm ok with that. What I'm not ok with is women being expected to spend hours on physical appearance, with no comparable standard for men. Or using products or wearing clothes that are actively harmful to their health. As far as video games, I think there can be some stylized designs that wouldn't necessarily reflect real life. Fantasy doesn't have to. And if the intention is campy, over-the top elements, then character designs could be a part of that, and I don't take issue with it.

But there's a lot of games that have ridiculous (female) character designs for seemingly no purpose in the game world or story telling elements. It just comes across as lazy, and is offensive for that reason in addition to the overt sexualization. I agree with you, a woman could be given a sexualized design if that is a choice made for character reasons(and explained in some manner within the story). But if every woman - and only the women - are designed that way, it's male-gaze manipulative trite.

Agree with all of this.

Lol, those Mortal Combat 9 outfits look pretty ridiculous. I'd wager it's more about eye candy. With the Buffy example, it's also the case that the vast majority of the show is focused on the relationships between the characters. Buffy may be intended to look sexy, but most of what I remember of the show(along with most of the fanbase) are things like her killing Angel, the fight with the Mayor, various speeches that she gave, etc. So it seems the sex appeal wasn't the point, or the focus.

I'd rather have that then people making excuses you know?

For sure. I believe in free expression, so long as actual women aren't being harmed. If someone wants to make a wank fodder game, they have that right. And I always prefer people being honest about their intentions than pretending what they're doing is normal/expected. But yeah, arguing with guys that want to deny why they're interested in the game, not likely to go anywhere.

But if you try to look at things from a perspective of "how can I be the most tolerant and inclusive here" then it makes sense.

It actually doesn't. They are intolerant of lesbians who don't want penises, exclude people who discuss biological sex or have conservative viewpoints. The misogyny they allow excludes women who are victimized by it.

One of the most brilliant acts of political propaganda has been to define "left-wing(not "liberal") values as being "tolerant" and "inclusive". But plenty of people and ideas are excluded from their ideology, which makes them intolerant. TRUE liberalism would be to allow people to express genuinely different viewpoints, debate them openly, and allow people to choose which are the best. As an ideal, at least, in practice there are always limits.

But even considering that limits will always exist, the current illiberal left are among the least tolerant and least inclusive people I've ever met. Twitter supports that crowd, not the ideals of fairness or mutual respect.

What do you see as the solution though? The US(or some other power) stays in the country for 10, 20, 100 years, propping up the government and enforcing a peace the people don't really care about themselves? I don't believe there was a good side here. The Afgan government and officials were doing some messed up and corrupt things too - but sure, it's true that they're slightly less reprehensible than the Taliban. If there's one thing I agree with Biden on, it's that you can't give people the will to fight for their country.

And I'm all for criticism of Islam. I think "liberals" and westerners are complete and utter morons for thinking it's just a 'cultural difference'. It is brutal to women and boys, and yes, when it takes over, the country is doomed. Afghanistan is doomed, sorry to say. Don't act like I'm ignorant of the reality of the situation just because I say: It's not our problem. It should never have been our problem. We (stupidly) gave the Afgan army every advantage and training, and this is STILL the end result. Absolutely nothing. Correction: Worse than nothing, because it's worse than when we started.

So again, what's the solution? What should be done that wasn't tried in the past 20 years, that would have somehow made a difference?

Women and girls are suffering in countries all across the world - but I believe the only way to effect and keep real change is for it to come from within. China is a problem on multiple fronts, I don't know that Afghanistan is the most important one.
