So should it, in fact, be mistransist (after misogynist and misandrist)? Not able to use a Greek root in the middle because, uh, historically only two sexes.

My granddad forgot who I was. First he called me by my mother’s name, then he treated me like a stranger, then he was actively afraid of me. What I wouldn’t have given for him to remember me at all, even if he had used an old name for me.

I came here to say this! If it had been a reflection on the fact that SHE could forget her transition in old age, it might have been worth reading. The fact that she finishes by saying all that matters is a person’s essence defeats the supposed point of her own article anyway.

They seem to want the 1950s housewife fantasy, because of, not in spite of, the domineering lack of emotional connection.

I think the image I was referring to, of a TiM saying trans women are better than women because they know what men want, was posted to this account: https://twitter.com/tratakes/status/1283305261256466433

I can’t find it now, but if I do I’ll add the link.

Your last paragraph is so incredibly accurate and also deeply, deeply demoralizing. You have to work hard to get what you want when throwing a tantrum isn’t an option, I suppose. Thanks for the insight.

Forgive me if this acronym has been invented before, but if they’re now claiming to be radical, are they TIRMs (Trans-Inclusive Radical Misogynists)? I admit it’s not as catchy as TERF, and we have TRA already. There is something darkly humorous about being able to say a man has gone full-TIRM, though. Them and (ideally) babies.

But being used that way is what some of them want. They claim they’re better than “cis” women because they enjoy being humiliated and degraded because they know “what a real woman’s place is”. Can’t remember where I saw the image elsewhere on here or I’d link it. I don’t know why they think being treated like an object is going to make them happy. Maybe they think it’s better than never being seen at all.

Yup - “Amati was on “love drug” MDA, antidepressants, transgender hormones, cannabis and vodka and was consumed by resentment after storming out of a failed Tinder date with a woman.”

It also says he used his expertise as a union organiser to have female inmates moved around in the three prisons he’s been kept at.

Yes. A lot of companies in creative fields also include in the contract that anything created outside of work hours still belongs to them, too. I get an exception for personal creative works, but getting an exception for social media is nigh impossible. The implication is if you ask for one, you must be planning to say something inflammatory, so they might just cut their losses by not hiring you in the first place.

The weirdest and most illuminating thing about the JK Rowling controversy for me was the absolute focus on TiMs, even though by trans logic it was TiFs that were most directly misgendered by making the point that everyone who menstruates is a woman. That’s because women pretending to be men is nothing new and we don’t care about how much discomfort they have to go through to keep up the illusion. All women secretly wish they were men, according to - you guessed it - men.

I’ve had two children and I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll ever feel like a “real woman”. Not that one needs to have children as validation (I certainly didn’t) but growing up that was the milestone my mother and other women used to weigh someone’s opinion.

Now those same people base their opinions on the speaker’s age. There’s no winning.

That’s what made me realise it was a new form of misogyny, too - men claiming to be women but not wanting to hear about the actual struggles women face.

For me, it was a man in my female chat group’s Pregnancy channel, who said that as someone who had supported a partner through two pregnancies he had valuable insight to offer. To pregnant women. In a women-only chat group.

I contacted the mod, explained my issues, spent a week reliving my assault due to having accidentally disclosed private details about my body without knowing there was a man present, and was told that I should consider why I would be okay with a lesbian reading my comments, but not a man (who identifies as a non-binary woman which is... what?).

I wasn’t assaulted by a lesbian. I was assaulted by a man, and I have been abused by men. Once I realised my trauma was never going to be as important as some man’s need to feel special, I did some searching and ended up on GC. And yesterday broke my heart.

Glad to see you all again, and hoping the rest find their way here soon.
