How exactly is asexual a spectrum? Either you have an interest in sex or you don't. Demisexual is just what healthy responsible adults want in a relationship, it isn't "queer" despite what any self-professed demisexual would have you believe.

Pretty sure it started in Canada. The term is new, came about in the 90's in English and then was translated back into some Native languages. The term is somewhat problematic at times because in a way it homogenizes the different cultures and traditions within different tribes. And Canada atleast was pretty brutal in stamping out Native culture and heritage to the point where it is difficult to recover. Post-colonial theory (also started in Canada) has also made a mess of it all in a different way.

Is it conservatism that is causing AGP men to 'transition' and call themselves lesbians? Is it conservatism that is causing the rise in non-binary identifying individuals? Or causing women to chop of their tits and identify as they/them? How exactly is a concept like being gender fluid conservative?

If you don't want to admit progressive ideas are the problem then so be it. But it doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'm also using progressive distinctly from liberal. I consider myself a liberal, and there is nothing liberal about TRAs.

orwellian terms regarding conversion therapy by grammaroo in LGBDropTheT

[–]latuspod 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So I think it would be fair to say that traditional gender roles are conservative in their nature. And I suspect that older transgender experience their gender dysphoria and chose to transition because of their failure to live up to those gender roles. That is not at all the whole story with the trans situation now though. I agree that it isn't a liberal or conservative thing, its a progressive thing that is both very illiberal and not conservative. It is a problem created out of the progressive left, specifically Queer theory, critical theory in general, and postmodernism. Conservatism isn't a boogeyman causing all the problems in the world.

The idea that a person can transition to a different gender or sex is itself progressive. The idea that if a boy likes girly things they might actually be a girl is a progressive idea based on conservative ideas about gender. The idea that a person is free to choose who they are is a liberal one.

Pretty sure I've said this to you before, but you need some straight friends dude.

I think people could just as easily point at the flamboyant gay culture, specifically gay men, as the reason behind the trans and non binary craziness. To be fair its a very small percentage of gay men that turned things like gay pride into the weird kink sex fest they are today. But it definitely isn't straight people in the LGBT communities advocating for gender fluid nonsense.

Differenr identify politics isn't going to fix the issue you are having with a specific type of identity politics. Its all the same shit. Keep blaming heterosexuals and bisexuals all you want, keep getting upset that lesbians supposedly abandoned you, but its not going to help you at all.

I agree with you that gender is the issue , and I think it's slowly getting better. I don't know how old you are, but the way you talk about men being scared of being seen as feminine makes me think you're a baby boomer from a conservative part of North America. I'm a millenial and I'd say the vast majority of my friends, 95 percent, are completely fine with doing whatever traditionally feminine thing you think is so troubling to us.

It also seems to me the trans craze is just as much a gay issue as it is a straight one. Affirmation therapy could legitimately be called a form of gay conversion therapy. Homosexuals are more likely to experience gender dysphoria than heterosexuals are, and the current rhetoric is set up to encourage transitioning at that point.

I like to say I am either a traditional liberal, or practical conservative. A lot of my views are libertarian, id like a small government, but recognize the need for the government to regulate certain areas. Im Canadian, I'd like more power to be given to communities to govern themselves, I'd similarly like provincial government to have more power over themselves and much less at the federal level.

Politically, I believe both liberals and conservatives are important, and dialogue between the two is important, a healthy society would respect the opinions of both sides. Both of the extreme ends are crazy, and I despise the people who work to increase the division between left and right, mainly Trump, and whoever his replacement will be, and the mainstream media. I get tired of people choosing sides because the media says this or Trump says that. An example of this is the current gun control debate, or lockdown procedures, or the Equality act getting pushed through in the states. The media is mostly a mouth piece for gaslighting the general population and manipulating them into supporting a movement.

There are definitely MRAs that are also TRAs. Left leaning MRAs were very against the Vancouver Rape Relief excluding trans women. They saw it as women demonizing men, and making men all out to be inherently violent.

I looked into MRA stuff a few years ago, after watching Red Pill by Cassie Jaye, and seriously contemplating divorce which is extremely prejudiced against men. It was the leftist non sense that turned me away from it. It isn't really one thing there is leftist MRAs and alt-right MRAs, and a small few liberal and rational MRAs. Most vocal MRAs have the same problem as most vocal feminists, they are completely self-absorbed.

Alt-right is mostly used as a scare whistle to discredit whoever you are arguing against.

[–]latuspod 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I agree that ideology can't change peoples sexualities. But a culture that has ideas about sex and gender being fluid and based on feelings will lead to people being confused about who they really are, leading to things like homosexuals thinking they are in the wrong body, and heterosexual identifying as homosexuals of the opposite sex. I don't think ideology is going to change peoples sexualities.

Saying heterosexuality is a thin veneer is silly. You are using an example of a very small number of people, most of whom were never straight. Where are all these straight people with their sexualties breaking apart? Straight people aren't threatened by whatever it is you are calling queer culture. I've talked to my kids about sex and different sexualities already, I think it's good for kids to know, but it was along the lines of what sex is where babies come from, that some people are gay and there's nothing wrong with that. But none of the the gender ideology crap. Part of the reason I have talked to them about it is I want them to understand before they get a woke teacher for sex ed that starts putting ideas in their head.

I'm not worried about it at all for my kids, he isn't an animesexual it's his classmate he was talking about. I thought Jean Gray from the animated X-men was hot when I was a kid, there is no reason to call that a sexuality. And getting into the hundreds of different made up sexualities is not something kids need be thinking about.

I have no problem with kids learning about sexualities and all that, when we are taling about real ones, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual. I don't see the need for any 10 year old to be into or understand what is meant by animesexual.

Panromantic at age 10 really? Why does a 10 year old even know what the hell that is.

My son, who is 9, was asking questions about being gay, lesbian, bisexual, I answered, then he told me his classmate is bisexual, alright cool. Then afterwards he said his classmate is animesexual, I asked what that means, he said it means she is only attracted to anime characters and that is really worrying to me.

This really seems to be about labels more than anything. And it is complicated by the fact that sexial orientation is a thing, and sexual preferences are another thing on top of that.

Is bisexuality anything that isn't 100 percent heterosexual or homosexual? That makes sense really. But sexual preferences make that increasingly complicated. It could be that men who are attracted to transwomen are bisexual, but not attracted to typical men at all, or it could be some internalized homophobia. Now I wouldn't call either of those things straight, but it makes sense that that person would want to identify as such.

There is a very good reason that they want things to get increasingly scandalous and constantly on upping society, its Critical theory doctrine. Art, political statements, any sort of protesting needs to be critical and revolutionary until the utopian liberty of Marxism is achieved. Herbert Marcuse set out the woke playbook decades ago, though many dont even know they are taking part.

I really liked the point he brought up about people sauingnon one hand that kids are mature enough to make this incredibly complicated choice that will impact the rest of their lives, but then on the other hand the information is always presented in a very kid friendly and simple manner. If kids are smart enough and mature enough to decide on their own they don't need silly stories and pictures of genderbread men to understand what's going on.

As a straight male the thought of having sex with another man physically repulses me and I'd imagine homosexuals feel the same when thinking of heterosexual sex. I dont doubt that could do so id forced and ejaculate and all that, but I wouldnt enjoy it, I wouldn't feel good about it afterwards. I have thought about this quite a bit, in part from hearing the rhetoric that OP asked about, I don't think many heterosexuals think about or contemplate their sexuality very much. Which results in them just buying into these concepts when they hear them.
