Every now and then I hear public commentators mention that left thinking includes hive-mind organization, while right thinking possesses personal opinions rather than group goals. To put it another way, liberals are great at organizing, conservatives are pretty bad at it. Really we're talking about one's human nature. Some people are like that; some are not. Much grows from that truth.

@Aureus has made good suggestions and a well-thought-out post. I agree with almost everything here; but I don't see the key that will allow conservatives to be coherent; it is their nature to be individual rather than committed to a common vision.

Donald Trump could have been the one to weld conservatives into a single vision- but either he doesn't possess whatever it takes, or he has been so poisoned and subverted that his leadership has been rudderless. There's a study out there somewhere that found that over the past twenty years, political speeches have employed simpler and simpler language, and an increase in sentiments over facts.

I saw a clip this morning of Vladimir Putin talking about how American elections are all fine, but a couple of days afterward the elected person is visited by some men in black suits who tell him how it works. "Or else", if you're lucky. Not if you're not.

I have thought about the level of blackmail and terrorism that goes into those visits. If you are an official, and every time you don't do what you are told (like "stand down the police") one of your children or an uncle disappears...well. And people who inhabit Saidit will have heard about the international trafficking, rape and murder of thousands of children every year. Is it all bullshit? I don't know, I only have the internet; and though I don't watch TV, I bet I'd never hear of it there.

So we're at war against a merciless, honourless psychopathic machine that spurns "your democracy" as nothing more than a speed bump, if that. No progress can be made until the real enemy is exposed and addressed; more and more, I'm thinking that is a worldwide crime syndicate (a loose one but with concrete goals) funded and supported by the wealthiest people on earth...who somehow think they will be safe once the rest of us are subdued. Which is debatable.

We are at war, but not with each other. I see that as the central problem, beyond what @Aureus has said. Who is that, and where are they? That's what we need to know, before we begin assembling the response @Aureus recommends.

We have a small army of private journalists who are trying to tell us things. They endanger themselves regularly by digging into things that "aren't anyone's bussiness". The recent purges on Youtube and Twitter should tell you that. But as long as the Machine owns the government, the police and the courts, "proof" is just going to be brushed aside.

It's impossible to reason with someone who won't listen and doesn't care what you think. Who has the power to make you invisible in the larger world. So what now? It is already a war, just nobody wants to call it. And it's not with who you think.

So let me get this straight. by logicalfallacy in SaidIt

Authoritarian rule appears to have become the new world religion overnight. I guess the motto is, "It doesn't matter what happens to you. But I must end up on this side of the fence." The depopulation program (virus, as a first shot in the war on people) is causing a lot of scrambling for survival, and the real authoritarians are safely distant.

People like George Soros, Bill Gates, the Clintons, Merkel, Macron, Bezos, Zuckerberg, et al. are frontmen; program supervisors. And there are thousands of people, from ordinary workers seeking security in a job, to world state Governors, Justin Trudeau, and many world leaders, lining up to help them step on their fellow humans, for whom they have only contempt. That's you and me, bub.

The society depicted in The Hunger Games is just around the corner...with a less likely ending, if you can imagine that. Disarmament, disenfranchisement, and economic ruin of citizenry are necessary steps, but the imbalance of technology is already so great that it's hard to imagine a free world as an outcome of this contest. The forest beyond the fence in the movie, where the heroine honed her hunting skills, will be unavailable because nowhere will escape full surveillance. (That was likely a continuity glitch in the movie, anyway.)

A new world order is appearing, that will have to live out its age and collapse like all previous empires, from within. But brace yourself. It could take quite a while, even as Earth measures these things.

It's all impressions from the Internet; so judge accordingly. My sources are Amazing Polly, Corbett Report, The Last American Vagabond, YouAreFreeTV, and a few others. I'm not free to express any of these ideas among friends or family; I've lost a few friends. It's been suggested that I have dementia (I'm rather old) or schizophrenia. People don't seem to have the mental framework to take in this view. Or maybe they're right! (grin)

And, I dearly hope I'm wrong! My best to you all, and thanks, OP.

There's an aspect of Saidit (and similar sites) that is not discussed much; for me, it boils down to "Be a good audience", by which I mean that posters with quality things to say deserve a good response. Whether you agree or not, part of the deal here is to have something to say (when it seems right to you) - dialogue is the point.

I live quite close to this person, a hundred km or so. What amazes me beyond the effrontery of the judge's ruling is that it has almost no local reporting. There is a pretty efficient blackout within the nearby information systems, online and newspapers alike.
Which suggests to me that behind the scenes there is a strong agreement to affirm this attitude in the face of (what would be) popular opinion if people knew about it. How, how can this be? It flies straight in the face of everything human or even practical.
Even the father has not, to my knowledge, tried to maintain that the girl "cannot" do the sex change; the most available seems to be to ask that the decision to move ahead be delayed until the person who wants to trans has reached legal majority.
So even the idea that waiting four years to make your own decision legally, is to be prevented, silenced, deplatformed.
I've been saying for forty years that I'm baffled when the electorate in a democracy elects someone who works completely against their own interests; this matter takes that beyond baffling out into psychosis. Yet it passes for "society" .... I don't understand

As philosophy, these ideas work very well and are admirable. I'm happy to agree to that point.

In terms of modern experience I think to ignore, or not pay attention, to an unfortunately growing number of topics only leaves psychopath malefactors free to act without scrutiny- or to put it another way, the bastards can get away with anything at all if we don't keep an eye on them.

I feel responsibility to try to keep informed about some things; it would be so unfair if no one even knew what those schemers are up to.

To recap: it would be great to be like that, if I could live with myself.

Thanks for this mild essay. You've brought back to my mind a writing by one of my favorite authors, Richard Brautigan. It may not speak directly to your musings; but perhaps like a Bob Dylan song, whether it has meaning or not is not the important part of it-

“I guess you are kind of curious as to who I am, but I am one of those who do not have a regular name. My name depends on you. Just call me whatever is in your mind. If you are thinking about something that happened a long time ago: Somebody asked you a question and you did not know the answer. That is my name. Perhaps it was raining very hard. That is my name. Or somebody wanted you to do something. You did it. Then they told you what you did was wrong—“Sorry for the mistake,”—and you had to do something else. That is my name. Perhaps it was a game you played when you were a child or something that came idly into your mind when you were old and sitting in a chair near the window. That is my name. Or you walked someplace. There were flowers all around. That is my name. Perhaps you stared into a river. There was someone near you who loved you. They were about to touch you. You could feel this before it happened. Then it happened. That is my name.”

One of the few individual solutions I can think of would be enjoying the decline, and participating in enjoyable pursuits rather than focusing on politics. Unfortunately, mainstream conservatives doing that is one of the main reasons we're here today.

That is so; I am puzzled as to solutions. I've lost friends and family because of mentioning the slightest hint of the things I see as self-evident. Have had to sit back and wait to see if developments prove me right. Except that will be far too late to avoid the situation planned for us. Far from showing interest, people recoil as if I'd bitten them. The strength of propaganda I suppose; yet I sit and wonder: if they are victims, what am I doing that is different from them?
Well one thing I suppose is I'm always interested in reasonable discussion, even if I don't buy the opposing argument. Not always possible. I've been angrily dismissed, even got hit once. Never raised my voice, never tried to belittle the other person...it is truly baffling. Conversations that would have been easy, even enjoyable, five years ago are now impossible. "Dismissed"! Slam.
Truly, we have competent adversaries. This very division has been their method at work, IMO.

You may have noticed this post, I found it shortly after seeing and answering yours. I believe there are ideas here that need to be taken on board.
   https://saidit.net/s/LateStageCapitalism/comments/74n0/the_ideology_of_incorporation_long/

As another facet of the topic, I have heard some, Dan Rubin in particular, suggest that 'wokeness' has become a religion, rather than a political approach; and as such is defended on faith and cult loyalty rather than any matter of fact. Which makes such people unapproachable, back to what I said before: you can't reason with someone who will not hear you. George Carlin, speaking of the Muslim encroachment (years ago, before the current diaspora) said, "They will win, you know. There is no defense against fanaticism, and fanaticism is entirely relentless."

It's such a broad perspective of damage.

One of the few individual solutions I can think of would be enjoying the decline, and participating in enjoyable pursuits rather than focusing on politics. Unfortunately, mainstream conservatives doing that is one of the main reasons we're here today.

Very true. You will have seen the meme running around that describes the wheel of history: "Strong men make good times: Good times make weak men: Weak men make bad times: Bad times make strong men."
It may be a matter of waiting for the wheel; I also have envisioned the Yin-Yang wheel in this respect. But I have pangs of sorrow for the generations it may take for that wheel to turn, and sorrow for the implacable narcissism that would be willing to sacrifice billions of people to a miserable fate, for the sake of their own comfort and salacious delight.

I've recently encountered a very spiritually minded lady who pointed out to me (again) that reaching out into consciousness, coming to an encounter with one's inner self, there is the knowledge that everything is perfect; nothing is ever out of place, no matter what it looks like; and it isn't our business to be occupied with the spiritual development of anyone but ourselves.
That's a pretty quiet spot in all this; I kind of envy her her nonchalance. I suspect she would be of the same mind right to the last breath of starvation. I find that worthy of respect, it's not my path but I get it.

There is only one being in the universe, and we are tiny components of it.
It has no volition: meaning it's not good, or bad. Things happen by chance and by choice, beautiful and ugly, and there is no naming or controlling any of it outside of our own choices. Even those choices are restricted by our limited understanding; but that doesn't mean we're not a part of it, as much as any rock or tree or ocean. All those things, including us, have being.

One of the great lines of my life came from "Hotel California" by the Eagles; "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

<Do you think de-criminalizing an activity amounts to endorsing that activity?>

Not sure that's the right question. Endorsing it or not involves your opinion (to which you are entitled), but just like prohibition, it has little or nothing to do with 'demand'.

Sexual markets will always be with us. They always have been, and by comparison with the past, we are relatively repressed. It makes sense to me that with legalization could come the opportunity to increase everyone's safety and health.

The problem with this, as with other things we are seeing, is that it opens the door to degeneracy. IMO children are exposed to a level of sexuality these days that is harmful because they don't get to develop on their own, their consent and timing of knowledge is removed by a permissive society. Especially now with the internet and porn, an eight-year-old with no filters can learn things I still have not figured out for myself at 72. So how to deal with that...

Thoughts on police? by [deleted] in debatealtright

[–]kazenmusic 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think we are all, worldwide, going to have to follow the wheel of history on its downward circle. To reform the police now would require a complete overhaul of society's moral fabric; which is torn and partly unraveled by design.

This gives me no pleasure, but I've seen it coming for years as society's softness and entitlement and unwillingness to seek real truth has allowed the rot to creep in. We're in the "weak men make bad times" part of the circle, and there's no way out but through. Not that it's any consolation, but I think we've hardly seen anything yet of how bad it could get.

I realize my comment is not directly about police; I say this as I do to show they are willing tools in the hands of people whose contempt for 'the rest of us' is bottomless. So the police can be expected to release their psychological poison as they have been programmed to do.

It's a mark of our naivety as a Western society, with our kind and forgiving social contract, that we would allow things to get this far. In a way I take some pride in that- it means we were able to have empathy and understanding of others for long enough to establish a high level of social trust, at least at one point in history. Proves it can be done; we're going to have to start all over.

I remember reading something years ago about the nature of one's experience in approaching truth; at first you might recoil from an electric shock, another time you will forget what you came for, another time you will rail and kick the boards of your self-imposed playpen; someday, when you've tried everything else, you'll just take it in, without judging.

And once a wise man said to me, "At some point you have to realize that you're going to be watching lambs led to slaughter, and know there's nothing to be done about it."

I've sometimes mused about how the fact I speak only English has limited my experience of the world's cultures: I'm sure there are many words in other languages that don't have corresponding English terms.

I believe we are limited even by the language we have even without these doomed attempts to make us stupid by forbidding concepts. My guess is humor will rush to fill the gap, once the shock of being programmed like this fades a bit...i.e. Russian Cold War jokes.

How very sad that we need them now. "Those who cannot learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them."

I'm kind of joking, kind of not. IMO, any ONE sentence from your two-part essay would have been enough, if not more than enough, for someone who is not used to this.

We don't realize how we've gotten used to it over time, but it takes time, a lot of time and reflection. Also, I like to keep in mind an affirmation: "All growth is uncomfortable"- so you're making people uncomfortable just by raising the subject. Necessary, but one must go very softly at first. I've lost a couple of really good friends, friends of years and years, not paying attention to this.

Thank you, Jason. I actually saw this video yesterday, and I'm fairly familiar with Kean Bexte's basic approach. Most of the time I can't stand to watch till the end, it's always so aggressively partisan that no real value judgement is possible. Gotta say, it's hard to believe the execution of this Liberal Government idea should be so blatantly vicious and ugly. Shape of things to come, I fear.
Add that to your remarks about Ezra Levant, 99% of which I completely share, and it becomes as difficult to sift for the diamond as it is to listen to Alex Jones, to whom you compare him. The narrator of this video gives me the heebie-jeebies. He's also the narrator of dozens if not hundreds of other similar videos on different topics, and although the video production is decent or better, right up to super-slick like this one, his voice contains many subtle hints of arrogance and lack of education, if not more.

It seems impossible for him to say the word "hundred" without it coming out as "hunnert". Saying long vowels in "the" and "a" may be some attempt at authority, but they betray an ignorance of vocal discipline. I think his native language is English, but he has altered his production voice into something similar to the old-fashioned "Mid-Atlantic Accent".

For me, it robs any other authenticity. Ignorance does not speak wisdom. The artifacts themselves are wonderful, beyond my vocabulary to describe them...but I've learned that if I want to keep inner peace while seeing these videos, I must turn on the closed captions; to coin a phrase, "this guy's a phony".

I've no opinion about the truth of the script content; but it's grating to listen to this boorish speaker, and it robs the whole thing of quality.

Though I consult it very seldom, I approve of the concept.

That was quite valuable, thank you. Like many other people, I've encountered Jordan Peterson facing his enemies, and heard him talk about the general energies of his study. This was a new aspect: the man himself in the pursuit of his own clarity, through the support and the needs of his counseling client. I'm not likely to buy the book, but I appreciate this demonstration of the attitude he takes when he's not having to arm-wrestle with someone who wants to vilify him. All that resistance he experiences! I think it says far more about the limitations of his decriers than it does about him. Is this the book that caused some of the staff of Penguin to quit in tears and pain? Histrionic bullshit, methinks.

They went on pumping until they were out of sight in the sky, leaving behind a few people on the ground who couldn't be bothered with that shit.

Those ground people went on to reinvent the world, without the pumpers. Makes sense to me, as a parable at least.

I lived there for a short time in 1974, shucked oysters for a living in a small building on the shore of one of those tucked-in inlets back toward Metchosin; anchored out in the bay was a lapstrake sailboat, kind of a large dinghy, that glowed brilliant white against the cedars and rock even on the grayest rainy day, punching through the mist with its purity. Poor little devils, those oysters. It turns out a left-handed piecework oyster-shucker is at a distinct disadvantage. Oysters are right-handed, imagine that.

I have it on fairly good authority that it isn't entirely about prevailing...
