We ARE all colors you just got done telling me you can't tell what someone is by looking at them

Gotta work on that reading comprehension, buddy. I said you can tell someone is not white by looking, and you might as well fucking own up to it instead of skirting around the topic by calling people "Mexican" and "Spanish speaking".

Saying "we are all colors!" is the race equivalent of spewing "gender is a spectrum!". It's not. It's a hierarchy, with men at the top and women at the bottom. We are not "all colors"; there's a hierarchy of treatment with people being treated better near the top and worse near the bottom. This is exactly the sort of stupid, vapid soundbite liberals get off on. Refusing to acknowledge this societal injustice doesn't make it go away any more than a male trans can end sexism by identifying as a woman and claiming to have never experienced it.

I said I get the distinction between people of color and colored people so

"Noooo, I was just pretending to be a dumb cunt".

You're the only one policing here. You got something actually meaningful to add besides the fact that you don't like my opinion?

How about this, I'll respond to your comment too.

9/10 that color is brown and yet call someone colored...oh no he didn't.

First of all, words have meaning and connotations. In spanish "negro" is just a color, in english it's not. You can describe someone as "a person of color", you can even describe them as brown or black but "colored" has a negative historical connotation and so we don't use it. It's really not rocket science.

There's nothing wrong with describing someone as non-white. In this case /u/book_hoarder does it anyway in a stupid, round-a-bout way despite not actually knowing the ethnic background of any of the people at the wedding in question. It would honestly be less idiotic if she just said they were "people of color" instead of trying to allude to it by describing them as "Mexicans" or "spanish speakers".

You can point out someone is not white, it's not racist. You can't call someone "colored" because it has racist undertones due to its historical connotations. Are you following so far?

we are all colors if you want to get right down to it.

We are not "all colors if you get right down to it". Racism is real and being cOloRbLInD isn't an adequate response to it. Grow the fuck up and stop pussy footing around the issue. White supremacy is real, and it isn't any less real just because you're afraid to address it. Spending your time making sure everyone knows how not racist you are isn't going to make racism go away. And no, pointing out/acknowledging racism doesn't make me "the real racist".

But you totally can and you totally do. It's how you know people are the wedding weren't white mexicans, despite none of them telling you about their background. Stop playing dumb and own up.

Because you are being unnecessarily pedantic and nitpicking at my language

Why are you skirting around topics?

What point are you trying to make exactly?

You're treating whiteness as a default and exotifying and othering non-whiteness. If you really saw everyone the same way, why do you have foreign references ("Spanish speaking", "Mexican", "Korean") for non-whiteness while you have no problem describing "red hair, blue eyes, and freckles", "white as the driven snow" on a white kid? What's your wife's other 7/8? If it's ALL THE SAME to you, why do you only point out 1/8 and get offended when I ask about the rest?

you would expect their offspring to be of similarly above-average intelligence

Are you referring to the fact that second generation immigrants are not as successful as their first generation counterparts despite being the offspring of first gen immigrants? I think there's a correlation between success and intelligence, but I don't think it's a guarantee; lots of "intelligent" people are not successful and not all successful people are "intelligent". Also, human offsprings are a mix of their parents. Things like crossing over during meiosis create new gene combinations. Basically, there's an element of randomness and smart parents don't always have smart kids (and vice versa). I would further argue that one of the bigger aspects of success (financial/career) is determination and the will to succeed. So while intelligence is somewhat hereditary and success is loosely correlated with intelligence, it's not going to be as direct as if you picked out and interviewed the people yourself from a pool of eager applicants.

The racism by proxy argument is dumb as shit, but you are a moron too. First generation immigrants are forced through an application/selection process to gain entry into the country. Babies, on the other hand, enter the country via birth. Obviously, people who were selected by a government for good behavior, good intention, and financial/academic/occupational success and skills as per deemed necessary by a country are going to "outperform" the general population who were created via egg meet sperm and have not been selected for anything.

We had an afternoon workshop with a tax form. But what is there to know about personal finance? All the information is available online. The most complicated concept is exponential growth in terms of investments and compound interests and maybe percentages in terms of inflation and tax. The most immediate stuff is just addition and subtraction. The rest is self control. People can't do that, won't look up basic information, and then complain about not getting hand held and spoon-fed. If you can't think for yourself, you're going to get fucked over, because nobody else is going to be looking out for your best interest.

One of the things that became evident early on is that there are many, many drawbacks to housing a whole bunch of people with mental health issues, particularly males, in the same premises

I mean, they're homeless for a reason. People aren't refusing to rent to them for fun. Most people also have social networks like friends and family to fall back on (couch surf, basement, guest room, etc). Of course, one could exacerbate the other. The point is, most people don't want these guys around, and there's usually a reason behind it. I had a former roommate, a young woman, who volunteered for a homeless shelter and she was required to stay within sight of her supervisor at all times because there's been instances of sexual assault on the volunteers in the shelter. Obviously, it's probably a worse idea to let these people roam the streets but some people are seriously ungrateful.

From what I can tell, this shelter has individual rooms, which lowers its capacity, but hopefully it will reduce the instances of sexual assault, because a lot of male trans people can be really predatory towards female and male people.

She's just not as deluded as other female trans people, and that's not exactly a high bar to cross. None of them care about being "nice" to women; I don't owe them anything. Unlike them, I'm not supporting sex stereotypes and hiding behind "mental health issues" to avoid criticism for my behavior, so you can say I'm already going above what they're offering. [–]just_lesbian_things 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

A lot of lesbians were roughly in your position at one point or another. When I was a preteen/teenaged lesbian, I was very afraid of adult lesbians because in those days, lesbian children were unheard of and homosexual adults were portrayed as drug addicted sex predators. So in some ways, you're already way ahead of the game.

In general, I'd say it wouldn't hurt to take a look at what other women are doing. People don't always give good advice, so it's better to take things into your own hands. If you see someone who is doing something you want to do or is somewhere you want to be (a job you want, a lifestyle you want), it's a good idea to find out the steps they took to get there and tailor them to your own situation. There's a lot more option for women these days, but you should still play your hand carefully and weigh your benefits. Try to put yourself into a position where you can make choices. I see a lot of lesbian (and bihet) women get stuck in the home-maker role when they had other aspirations because they can't get over their mindset (see: real late bloomer lesbians). Be realistic, but also check your mindset to make sure you're not limiting yourself.

It is not usual for your parents to want the best life for you, even if they're initially disappointed and find the truth hard to swallow. The trans fad will probably blow over in another 5-10 years.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about not connecting with anyone in high school. I'm not in touch with any of my high school classmates. Unless you go to an extraordinary high school, it's going to be a small pond, and the rest of the world is always going to be a lot bigger. It's not to say that you'll definitely make meaningful connections outside of highschool, but not having that in high school isn't necessarily indicative of a deeper problem.

The last one is the worst. The ones I see are the untagged ones that get past the filter. The characters are never canonically trans. I've dropped every work on the spot. Fuck that noise. Some authors have it as their "headcannon" and consider themselves above tagging. Those authors are blacklisted for me. If I ever get in a fandom again, I'm going to start leaving scathing reviews.

Another one I see is the super heavy handed monologue where a character suddenly starts giving a lecture on some social justice topic, like sexual consent, or slut shaming, or racism. I don't have to disagree with it to find it ridiculously over the top, ham-fisted, and out of character. If they can't handle these topics properly, I wish they don't touch it at all.

If it were true that they were cremating people in bulk they would need to have cremation furnaces that were much larger than the ones they had.

No, it just needs to be big enough for a body, which it looks to be, according to the photographs. Remains have been found in mass graves, with pieces of bones found within the ashes, as you say, they do not burn. Much less care is given to these bodies than modern day crematoriums, where the process involves handling the bodies respectfully, collecting the ashes carefully, and grinding the bones. That's going to take longer. Also, present day crematoriums are designed to handle the usual death rate of a population, so it's not hard to overwhelm them in the case of a pandemic where a lot more people have died in a short amount of time.

Is there anything that could convince you of it? Clearly not books, photographs, or first person accounts. What sort of evidence of the existence of the Holocaust would you accept, just out of curiosity?

Do you even understand what is being said? A furnace that burns more than one body needs to be big enough to burn more than one body. What part of that don't you get?

A bunch of 1 body furnaces that runs for hours straight without stopping, with the door periodically being opened to unceremoniously insert another body, with the ashes being scraped out while the furnaces run is going to require less time per body than a furnace that is powered on and off, with the bodies in caskets and ashes and bones carefully collected and cooled afterwards for the mourning families. (Also, average person today is probably heavier than someone who has been starving in a concentration camp).

We literally know exactly how many furnaces they had

And how many is that?

They did not have enough furnaces to burn 6 million bodies

But do they have enough to burn 95,000 bodies over the course of 12 months (not accounting for the ones who were not cremated but buried, and the fact that the death toll was not consistent but came in waves)? Because that's the amount it took to overwhelm the Italian crematoriums. The Occam's razor explanation is that Italian crematoriums simply aren't designed with the intention of cremating this many bodies in such a short period of time, not that it is impossible to cremate this many bodies within this timeframe. I have a thing against only one group of people in the world being allowed to have one

They're not the only group of people in the world allowed to have an ethnostate. Jewish people are not a monolith, I guess some of them are pro-ethnostate and some of them aren't.

but currently no western nations that possess them are ethnostates, and in fact no western nations at all are ethnostates, so again were back to the hypocrisy

What hypocrisy? Is there a particular rule against ethnostates having nuclear weapons?

Israel stands out in that unlike the US and other western nations that stockpiled nukes during an arms race with an ideological enemy that did the same in the name of nuclear deterrence. Israel stockpiles nukes despite its enemies not having any themselves, which means their stockpiling is done solely in an attempt to blackmail and intimidate its enemies. Its done for military supremacy, but that isnt the worst of it.

US and western nations developed nuclear weapons to attack enemies who did not have any. And they were developed with and on the scientific efforts of many Jewish scientists. You can argue that it's disproportionate force, but US and European history of the last few centuries has been one of flexing disproportionate military might against "ideological enemies" who were significantly weaker. If you're confused, I'm talking about colonialism and bringing "freedom" and "civilization" to "savages".

There is something known as the Samson doctrine, which states that should the Israeli regime ever be on the verge of being overun, they would unleash nuclear weapons on both middle Eastern capitals and in some versions of it European capitals(they are believed to possess over 400 nukes, way more than would be needed to level middle eastern capitals)

You can criticize that without claiming historians are fabricating lies about the Holocaust. I don't understand why the discussion is centred on historical details when it seems like your main complaints are about other things.

But people arent ostracized, attacked, imprisoned and censored for expressing different views on the number of people killed in Hiroshima, or the Armenian genocide for that matter

Some of them are.

support for a nuclear armed ethnostate

Do you actually have a thing against an ethnostate? Lots of places are ethnostates, are you against them too? Are you super pro-immigration or something? If you're against nuclear weapons, you can be against nuclear weapons without claiming that historians lied about stuff. Just be against nuclear weapons like the rest of us. But reminder that if you're currently living in a country with nuclear weapons, it might look very hypocritical if you want to ban them for other people. You can recognize that you're here to support your and only your interests and that other people are here to do the same without suspecting there to be foul play or conspiracies against you.

Do you have some source that accounts for all of this and explains why the 6 million number is still unquestionable?

No? I also don't remember how many people were killed on the D-Day attack, nor how many civilians died as a result of Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombings, nor the complete death toll of the Armenian genocide. I think it's ridiculous to go around claiming that historians are lying to you about this number in particular to support some sort of conspiracy against white people. I think it's idiotic to claim that Italian crematoriums not being able to keep up with this pandemic is a sign in favour of this particular conspiracy as opposed to the simpler explanation that the crematoriums were simply not designed for such a heavy death toll in such a short amount of time.

Eh, lesbians 5-10 year back didn't identify as lesbians either. It hasn't been a popular word for a while now. The sexuality in itself has never been popular, I don't think. I think a lot of lesbians went underground. I know myself and a bunch of my friends all did. We've mostly stopped participating in "LGBT" spaces. I think a lot of people got tired of the constant harassment from male trans people and all their allies. Most of the lesbians I've met in the last few years have been through other lesbians. Progress is going in reverse: lesbians aren't as open about their sexuality anymore because of all the craziness and harassment and demands. Lesbian spaces and events have gone back to invite-only.

It's not an "acceptance" thing, it's just that women don't tend to behave violently. Even if straight women don't "accept" lesbians, it rarely results in physical violence. Homophobic women stick to avoiding lesbians or social manipulation/shaming (see: none of the complaints about "Karens" involve physical violence). Most of the pressing problems lesbians face comes from straight men too, but usually that shows up as sexual harassment or rape.

If you're going to make shit up about your historical figure anyway, why bother?

Historical figure probably captured someone's imagination? Historical drama has been a staple of human story telling since there were stories. The Iliad, Antony and Cleopatra, Three Kingdoms, all contain re-imagination of historical figures. Hollywood regularly churn out hits based on real people- The Social Network, Twelve Years a Slave, American Sniper, Imitation Game. Do you hate all works of fiction based on real people? Or do you only take issue with this example as you find it egregious and distasteful? Because I'd like to remind you that Xuanzang the monk was given a magical monkey sidekick in Journey to the West, King Odysseus got raped by a magical nymph in the Odyssey, and King Richard III ordered his nephews' assassination in Richard III.

Presumably because he might still want to buy a house at some point? Lol this is such a dumb argument. Understanding basic algebra is not a huge ask. Mortgages, taxes, bills, budgeting, understanding news statistics like the spread of a pandemic, the rate of climate change and whether, or not someone has committed voter fraud; these are all things that a basic, voting citizen needs to know. I want to build houses and I still needed to take English because there's more to life than building houses.

Because you have to be masculine if you want to be a builder, a firefighter, a police officer or a soldier.

It's a cultural thing within those industries but you don't need to be masculine to drive a fire truck, issue a speeding ticket or apply caulk. Also:

independent, strong, capable of cooperating with members of the community

Those aren't inherently masculine features. Plenty of people who would be categorized as feminine are all of the above. If we're playing the gender game, cooperation is by far much more attributed to femininity than masculinity.

Have definitely seen some act like this online

Yeah, sometimes I see butches do that, but usually it's a weird mix of "gender" roles. For example, a lot of butches I know of were raised in fairly strictly gender regulated households so they're really good at cooking/cleaning/childcare simply because those things were forced on them growing up. E.g. the bald woman dressed like a lumberjack will coo over babies like a soccer mom.

Also, I've almost never seen butches complain about not getting dates or anything like that, despite seeing a lot of fem4fem stuff.

Do men participate in this type of behavior in a different way than women?

Yes. And you likely don't see it, or don't acknowledge it to be a different manifestation of the same intentions.

In my experience, women rebel in different ways. Men are more destructive and imo, definitely more extreme. The rioters, the shooters are almost always men. Women will do social ostracism and other social stuff, but they usually won't do crazy violent shit. You don't see women killing people because they can't get a date, you don't see women beheading anyone or hijacking planes in the name of their religion. If you focus on the SJW emails, women seem extreme, but so much of male bullshit is just accepted as the statue quo. When was the last time a woman threatened to rape someone who disagreed with her?

Women will generally try to appeal to reason. They'll demand rapists and sex abusers be fired from positions of power. They'll also send shitty emails. Men are way more violent. They riot, start wars, and make violent threats.

You don't have to reply on others mental illness and using those as an insult.

But they're the ones falling back on their mental illness as the cause and excuse for their behavior. According to Alice, everyone needs to pretend Alice is a woman or he will kill himself because of his mental illness. Alice cites modern therapy; which allegedly claims that his brand of mental illness demands everyone keep up this pretense. If that's what the mentally ill and the mental health experts that treat them say, who am I to say otherwise? All I can say is fuck him and fuck his mental illness, I'm not going to compromise my autonomy even if it means he kills himself over his inability to force me to do things.

I think the biggest reason for a lot of these fast, nonsensical shifts in social discourse is because this is the first time ever that young teenagers and preteens are HEAVILY involved in the discourse (bc of the internet.) I don't mind engaging in conversation or debate with people regardless of how old they are, but too many of these twitter teens hide behind their age. Either you're mature enough to have an opinion and be criticized for it, or you're tOo YoUnG for negative feedback and should shut the fuck up. Can't have it both ways. I was online as a kid, and I took responsibility for my online actions, good or bad. If the adults around me were doing things that made me uncomfortable, I do as I do now and I close the window. Most of my friends grew up online too, and while we're not the most well-adjusted bunch, I think that's more of a cause of our online presence than an effect of it. We behaved and were treated as if we were any other adult, and we certainly didn't demand to be coddled by everyone we came in contact with. There are no children on the internet, if you want to be here, you accept the same responsibility as everyone else, regardless of your age. The internet isn't free baby sitting for neglectful parents.

I don't have to do anything. If it were up to me, I wouldn't say anything, because I don't think it has anything to do with me and it is not my place. I'm not going to "save" anyone, but if there happens to be something you would prefer I say/don't say or approach you'd prefer I take/don't take, I would do so, not on behalf of anyone but myself. Obviously, I'm not asking for a coherent, official response from all gay men either, I'm just polling to see if there would be a consensus or a commonality.

I think male trans people's take over of lesbian spaces is more aggressive than what you've described of female trans people. It isn't possible to just ignore male trans people in female spaces. Their behavior, especially the female attracted male trans people, are quite aggressive and predatory. They don't just want attention, they get off on sexually violating women and they don't back down. I appreciate your advise and perspective but I don't think it translates very well to my own situation.

I agree. This was more pertaining to any details I should keep in mind or faux pas I should watch out for if I were to speak to any women who are identifying as gay men.

If it bothers you, say something. If you're leaving the server anyway, why does it matter if they think you're a transphobe or not? I and most lesbian/women like me have been getting continuously kicked out of lesbian and feminist spaces for the past few years for speaking up for ourselves. Some women go back under new accounts to keep spreading their message.

You call yourself an ally, you say you're embarrassed ("of [your] generation"). Well if I were you, I would be too. You saw something you disagree with, ran away without saying anything, then you came here to complain to us about it. You won't even speak up in a discord server while you're on your way out. Not for yourself, definitely not for us.

How are you an ally, exactly? Are you here to help us or are we your shoulder to cry on? What are we supposed to be getting out of this "alliance"? We have so many "allies" who stand around complaining while doing absolutely nothing.

I'd try out my female relatives dresses when I was home alone.

Did you jerk off in them? Cuz I've heard the same story from AGPs and they jerk off (or got aroused) in clothes they "borrowed" from their mothers/sisters. Maybe that's the difference.
