Not being able to have biological children with your partner is emotionally difficult and incredibly frustrating for many gay and lesbian couples. (I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Knowing I couldn’t ever have kids with my partner was the hardest part of accepting my sexual orientation.) Here’s what I don’t get: why trans people think spaces that aren’t for them need to bend over backwards for them to the point those spaces no longer represent the intended group.

I just started going to a group for people learning Italian. The local German learning group doesn’t barge in and demand we speak German because they aren’t included by Italian language learning. Christians don’t turn up at my synagogue and demand we practice more “inclusively” because they’re being excluded. Basketball players don’t come to the local soccer league and insist we change how we play to fit them in. Reactions to Women Breaking Socialization Norms: Watch how you and everyone else around reacts the next time you see a woman voice frustration with someone. Harassment/Threats: Tbh, I don’t know what happens after gay guys shut down trans shit online. What often happens after lesbians do it is that we get graphic rape and death threats in our inbox. What always happens is that we’re banned from the sub.
Actual Violence: Trans people love to complain that people misgendering them is literal violence. Women (lesbian or otherwise) who stand up to trans nonsense irl face actual violence. Whether it’s meetings being attacked, spaces being vandalized, or women be assaulted, it’s real and scary. There’s also the risk that we’ll lose our jobs.
Insidious Transwomen: A couple of weeks ago, someone posted a terrorism manifesto (I don’t know what else to call it) from a transwoman obsessed with Vancouver Rape Relief. One of the strategies he encouraged was infiltrating groups. Basically: get one transwoman or one ally into a group’s leadership and use them to get more and more people in leadership roles. Then use this power to kick out the original women the group was for. I absolutely believe this is exactly what happened with AL along with pretty much every other lesbian or LGB space. Change my mind.

Being attracted to only one sex and the sex organ that accompanies them is not a fetish.
There’s no scenario where same-sex couples produce children. If someone is homosexual, the option to biological children with a partner is never on the table. The ability to have biological children doesn’t suddenly make the opposite sex attractive. (Or, you know, LGB people would’ve just become magically straight for centuries.) Furthermore, a straight person coupling with a trans person using your made up definitions would be a homosexual union. It would not produce children.
Show me one transwoman’s body that isn’t male and doesn’t have male genitalia. You can’t. Because the entire purpose of being trans is trying to be like the opposite sex. So, yes, I’ll continue to acknowledge what transwomen’s bodies look like.
Unless they’re completely deceived (which is rape), they most often don’t. But, let’s humor this—if regular people are boning trans people all the time, why don’t trans people ever shut up about how no one will fuck them?

The race comparisons piss me off too. The problem with segregation was that neutral things like schools and diners were segregated by race, which was obviously unfair. American here. I’m also very worried about what Biden’s win will mean for women and for LGB Americans. Biden and Harris both are deep in TQ rhetoric. We’ve already heard ad nauseam how he hopes to enact the Equality Act within the first 100 days of office, despite the fact that gender identity protections run completely contrary to sex-based protections. Additionally, the fact that Biden and Harris have been supportive of transing kids is very concerning. We’re being set up for loads of kids, a significant portion of whom are LGB, to have their futures and bodies ruined for pseudoscientific dogma. In the best case scenario, there will be strong public backlash to the insanity, but I’m afraid the backlash with drag LGB down with it.

You’re, unfortunately, right though. America sets examples that other nations follow for better or worse. If we go down this path, I’m deeply concerned what it means for my brothers and sisters abroad.

I’m stuck on all the transwomen in this thread saying that it’s unfair for a lesbian to turn down a transwoman who’s had bottom surgery. So, uh, I hate to break it to you but there are differences in between male and female hands, foreheads, and shoulders. I mean, look around you. You don’t need a PhD in biology. Flipping out because women want women’s bathrooms and framing that freakout as an LGBTQ issue is a sure fire way to make people think we’re even more insane than they already do.
My favorite part of this article is where they claim there’s no proof that women need women-only toilets while simultaneously insisting, without proof, that gender specials need gender neutral toilets.
It was kind of hilarious that they’re acting like single-sex toilets are some crazy new idea. They do know they’ve been the status quo in the western world for the past century, right?

So, I fundamentally disagree with probably 99% of things said on trans subs. You know what I don’t do? Brigade them and demand they fall in line with my views or get banned. I don’t do that with old school homophobes either. Why? Because it’s fucking crazy and futile to demand the whole world constantly bow to your opinion. Have your own spaces for your worldview, but don’t shut down spaces for those who disagree OR spaces for everyone to voice their opinions.
