If this is the way it goes everywhere I will declare myself to be neither female nor male but a new category of XX. I will demand XX-only spaces for every person who has XX chromosomes because male and female spaces will not be safe for XX people as it can be proven that XX are the majority victims of sexual assault and violent crimes. I will demand XX medical care specific to our chromosomal needs and I will not rest until we have out own XX sports, prisons, and public facilities.

It's happening because nobody is organising against it. There is an obvious organised push for this to happen or they wouldn't have bothered doing it in the first place. It may be difficult to get people who are against it to put their names on a petition but an anonymous survey which asks users whether they are for or against these changes and asks for comments would give those in charge an idea of how popular or otherwise this current configuration is.

Around four months ago I posted on here about a transgender identifying man who was moving to my small rural community and how I thought I would be the only person to not go along with his delusions. I feared I would become the odd person out and be ostracized from my own community for not accepting this man's fetishes. I was the only person who knew anything about trans-ideology and I thought he would ruin the great atmosphere we have here in our isolated village. This is an update.

The guy came here to do some odd-jobs and was house-sitting at a place on the main street. He would wander around in his pink tights, which caused a few raised eyebrows, but as he kept to himself he wasn't much of a problem. His other mental health problems soon surfaced when the home-owner returned six weeks later and he abruptly left the village without having done any work for anyone, so not many people had interacted with him in his time here.

I was relieved that my fears weren't realized because I had really stressed over the situation. He had left in a hurry so his room was a bit of a mess and when cleaning it up the home-owner found tampons, pads, and her own underwear with lipstick stains on them under the bed. She peaked. Slowly the word has gotten out about this guy (not by me) and now I think the whole village has peaked.

What is stopping any normal man or woman from declaring themselves to be a transwoman and then becoming a spokeswoman for the GC viewpoint? They would definitely be trans because of self-ID so nobody could accuse them of manipulating the situation for their own agenda. They could do the breakfast shows as the voice of trans people and tell the world about the number of AGPs versus transsexuals who identify as trans. They could discuss men in women's sport, why transwomen like her really want to get into the women's toilets, and many other things that women are not allowed to speak about. They could open up the whole conversation because they couldn't be challenged on their transness because anyone who says they are trans is trans. Even a discussion with a TRA on Good Morning Britain about why this person is or isn't trans would show just how nonsensical the whole idea is. Ricky Gervais would be brilliant in this role.

I was on HRT for 5 years but had to go off it due to fibroids, polyps, and cysts. I no longer menstruate but I have been having very bad sweats and temperature fluctuations for at least 15 years except for the time I was on HRT. I have just lived through my second Tasmanian winter wearing just a t-shirt with a ski-jacket and no other layers because several times a day I have to throw off the jacket to cool down. I have to drive in a t-shirt with the heater on and then wind down the windows every 15 minutes to cool down and de-fog the inside of the windscreen. It is a ridiculous way to live.

I will definitely post about my experiences after my surgery. I am just waiting for the phone call that finally puts me out of my misery.

My mother was born in 1933 in Sydney. She had a hysterectomy in her late 30's but kept her ovaries. She had very bad hot flashes and profuse sweating starting at around 40 but HRT was not on her radar even though menopause symptoms were not a good professional look and she suffered in her work because of them. I watched what she went through and it wasn't pretty. She died of cancer at 58 (the age I am at now) and as far as I know she was over menopause by then. She certainly didn't have flashes in her last couple of years.

Thanks for the links, they will be very helpful. I will be having a full hysterectomy including bilateral oophorectomy. The bowel cancer that I have genes for is linked with ovarian cancer so everything has to go. I have been opened up from hip to hip twice already so the surgeon is going over the same scars rather than creating a new one. I have problems with my joints which HRT should relieve to some extent as I can't take Celebrex or similar medications.

In March I was 10 days away from my surgery when all elective surgery was cancelled due to covid and it is only now that I have made it to the top of the list again. My surgeon is actually in Antarctica for a year so his colleague is slowly going through his list for him while he is away. He missed the entire pandemic by being on the only continent without coronavirus.

There was a lot of resistance to HRT when my mother was going through menopause because many women wanted to be 'natural' women and go through the stages of life that nature intended. It was seen as a weakness if you didn't tough it out without HRT so many women took it without telling anyone. It was never seen as an aid to staying youthful in my country but it did have the reputation of increasing sex drive so men would joke about their suddenly horny wives, which was another reason women didn't like to admit they were taking it.

In a couple of weeks I will be having a hysterectomy and I expect to be on HRT for the rest of my life. I feel the benefits far outweigh the risks and there is now no stigma attached to taking this medication that can help relieve so many terrible symptoms.

The Tasmanian Equal Opportunity Commission website lists the characteristics and attributes that are protected under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1998 (Tas) 17(1). Sex is no longer a protected class under the act. They know there is a difference between sex and gender because they list 'sexual orientation' and 'gender identity' as separate characteristics. This is not a mistake or an accidental omission. Women are no longer protected under the law on the basis of sex.

The complaint was dismissed, so that's good. People will always complain about the realities of menstruation being put in front of them if they have been allowed to think that the entire subject is dirty, too personal, in any way sexual (it's about vaginas), taboo, or simply icky. Within a generation the subject of periods and period products will have lost the last of its stigma and our grandchildren will laugh at how men used to practically need smelling salts when confronted with menstrual blood.

Their choice of name is never accidental. When they choose the name of a famous person they want us to think of them in the same way we think of that celebrity, eg: Jonathan Yaniv is now Jessica Simpson. When they take the name of someone they know personally you can be sure there is a bit of an obsession with that person. It is like they are walking around in their skin and the person whose name they took feels violated. When they steal the name of a child that they know it is a red flag the size of Texas and no parent should feel flattered that a man has chosen to appropriate their child's name 'because it's so pretty'. At no time does one of these sick people ever ask their namesake for permission to impersonate them.

I don't get his reference to the current year of 2020, as if it has something to do with his lack of a female-sexed body. Was he expecting technology to be so advanced by now that male bodies can be supplied lab-grown wombs to be implanted and used on a whim? Or did he think evolution should have sped up so his wants and expectations could be met immediately? Either way he needs to understand that mother nature will never allow non-sex-based reproduction in mammals just because some members of a species have become mentally and physically unsuitable to mate with.

It bothers me that you think that feeling frustrated, disappointed, and disgusted by this man's behaviour is somehow unacceptable. If this is how you feel then not only is it acceptable to feel it but you are absolutely right to feel this way. This man has changed into somebody who you no longer want to spend time with and who creeps you out. It is natural and normal for your feelings towards him to change if he makes you feel uncomfortable. If you met him for the fist time today, would he be someone you would want to spend time with? Growing up sometimes entails growing away from certain people who are mentally draining, unstable, or toxic.

This man has always indulged his fetishes to the detriment of those around him and he continues to play out his fantasies in public regardless of how this behaviour has destroyed his closest relationships. Calling himself by your sister's name is a huge red flag and shows how insensitive to the feelings of others he is. It is time to jettison this relationship before you really come to hate this guy rather than just feeling sorry for him. Your own feelings should have priority over his because he has had 60 years of people pandering to his whims, and if you allow your feelings to be treated as unimportant now it may set you up for more of the same in the future.

Now that you are no longer a student there you can lose your fear of the authority figures at the school and become pro-active on your sister's behalf. She may not feel confident enough to question things or cause trouble but you are in a perfect position to advocate for her.

Find out whether males and females sharing toilets is legal where you are or if there are legal protections in place that state toilets must be separate. You could ask the school head if an 11 yo girl should be forced to learn how to use a tampon in the stall next to an 18yo adult male student taking a shit. Because you are a former student you can recount the times that girls have escaped to the female-only toilets in order to get away from boys. Tell them about your own experiences and how you would have felt if there were no female toilets in that situation. Tell them this is not ok and that you will be speaking to the press about how the lack of privacy will impact the whole school population. Find other students who are unhappy with this new toilet block and, if you feel brave enough, let them know you will help them fight for their right to privacy, safety, and dignity at school.

Most importantly, find your local MP, Senator, etc, who represents your district and speak to them about the problem and ask for their help in restoring the toilets to separate male and female facilities. They are there to serve you so take full advantage of this.

[–]itsnotaboutewe 38 insightful - 1 fun38 insightful - 0 fun39 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I started my working life in the 1970's when women had only just been allowed to enter professions and jobs that had hitherto been male only domains. If a pretty female was hired at a firm that had been all male prior to the changes it was assumed she was employed because she had great tits or the boss wanted to sleep with her. If a plain woman was hired it was assumed she probably had talent but it still was suspected that hiring her served some hidden agenda. Women were hired on their merit but they really had to prove their worth to help kill the discrimination that was still pervasive at that time. Over the years as more women proved themselves capable these stereotypes dissipated and up until recently being female had no bearing on whether someone hired you or not. A lot of work went into changing the human resources culture, and the way it used to be for women should never be forgotten.

Now we have identity politics and many companies are using a system of hiring on the basis of diversity rather than merit. If a man can tick the diversity boxes of both woman and LGBTQ+ without the need for maternity leave, special bathrooms, etc, then he will be seen as having more going for him as a prospective employee than a woman who may need time off to have children and may have ongoing commitments to children and family that require altered hours of work and such.

I have watched women in the workplace go from excluded to exploited and then to accepted and normalised in society. Now it is changing again and women are being overlooked if there is a minority or 'diverse' candidate whose social identity outweighs their merit when it comes to fulfilling the job criteria.

One generation was all women got to be treated as equals in the workforce. One lousy generation that nobody will remember in another 20 years if this identity politics keeps going.

How can saying you love JK Rowling be considered hate, though? If the theory is that Rowling is hateful, so support for her is hateful, then her hate must be in evidence. If Rowling has not even been questioned about hate how can someone be cited for hate just for supporting her? The stickers do not state why the person loves her. Can a supporter not love her for her charity work? For her writing? Hate speech, hate crime, and hate incidents cannot hold where there is no hate in evidence nor any whiff of ill will.

She hasn't even been questioned about a 'non-crime hate incident'. She is a successful and beloved children's author who is celebrated for her contribution to the literary arts and to women's and children's charities. If you put up stickers stating 'I <HEART> JK ROWLING' you can be done for vandalism but nothing more. You cannot be done for a hate crime or hate incident for stickers supporting a respected member of the community who has never been charged with hate herself.

If Posie just reeled off statistics and sources it would not have been a debate but a bibliography and reference speech. I'm pretty sure that was the AMA where she was asked what would be a reasonable action to take against her considering her views lead to the deaths of trans women. This very thinly veiled threat was dealt with by the mods but it still must have been incredibly unsettling for her.

As to the 'men are black women' about segregated toilets, the laws regarding segregation were not enacted by women, but by men. White women didn't care if black women were in their safe, personal spaces because they were women, and black maids would often accompany their employers into the ladies room. Also, wealthy white women would often have personal ladies maids who would help with their bathing and dressing, so we know they were trusted, not feared. To equate black women to any type of man is the most disgusting racism. It makes me sick.

[–]itsnotaboutewe 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Males and females of most species exhibit different behaviours according to their sex but that doesn't mean their brains are different. It is their hormones and millions of years of instinctive learning that each sex has that makes them act differently. For instance, in some birds it is the male that builds the nest so the females have no nest building urge. The female inspects the nest and either approves of it or goes in search of a male with better skills, but that doesn't mean their brains are different. It means that the sexes have different roles to play in procreation and they act upon that. Penguins have similar roles between the sexes and it is only the actual mating and egg laying that sets the sex roles apart. There have been many instances of two penguin males raising a chick but they have to be given or steal an egg and there is no evidence to suggest they are homosexual, just that they both think the other is to play the female sex role. Their sex roles after the laying of an egg is the same for a male or female.

Dr Soh also believes in gender as being linked to these sex roles, but if that is the case it would mean every animal has a gender, which I reject. I consider gender to be a social construct totally separate to sex roles, which are innate. I breed sheep and I know that ewes and rams have different roles in the flock which are dependent on their sex. A ram will change his role in the flock if I castrate him but he will not turn into a ewe or have a ewe's brain. He will still be male with a male brain but his sex role has changed so his behaviour changes accordingly.

He teeters on the edge of reason but has so many ties to trans ideology that they hold him back. Sometimes these types actually get it and agree that gender doesn't exist, but once they realise that that is what GC people have been saying all along they ty to spin it around. They then say it is GCs who are supportive of strict gender stereotypes and that they are the enlightened ones who came up with the idea of abolishing gender. Their blind spot must be the size of the sun.

Thanks for that. I saved it to be able to show any villager who wants to discuss it with me. The man is back here now and I thought that my friend in the city must have told him that I would not validate his new identity because the guy twice ignored me and he refused to even look at me. Other people noticed it and one person quietly asked him if he had a problem with me. He replied that he knew me from somewhere, although he couldn't recall where or when he knew me, but he knew his experience with me was very negative. He was fine with me before this so he must have more mental problems than just autogynephilia.

Explanation of non-binary that's not sexist? by bradjohnsonishere2 in GenderCritical

I've had this argument and got dizzy from such tight circling.

Them: I don't feel like a man or a woman. I am non-binary. Me: I don't feel like a man or a woman. I just feel like me. Them: That makes you non-binary. Me: But I don't identify as non-binary. I don't identify with any gender or non-gender, so what am I? Them: If you don't identify as anything then your gender is your birth sex, so you are a woman. Me: But I don't feel like a woman..................

The poster will be immediately defaced but hopefully this will produce public discussion in not just Edinburgh, but the whole of the UK. Anyone who opposes this poster being displayed should explain to the general public why they find it offensive. How many other images that state similar sentiments (I love Scotland merchandise is very popular in the tourist shops on the Royal Mile) are considered inoffensive and are never defaced or vandlised?

I would like the world to consider natural women (no makeup, not shaved, comfortable clothes, etc,) to actually be wearing the latest fashion inspired by lockdowns. The world is accepting of new fashions so we could have this 'new' look become fashionable so more women adopt it and we wouldn't get harassed for not doing femininity. We could reclaim our natural bodies by never discarding this fashion.

I think they are screaming 'racist' instead of 'transphobe' because they know transphobe has no meaning and it is an insult that does not stick. On the other hand, 'racist' is an incredibly powerful name to call someone and when we hear someone called racist we take notice without really enquiring further as to why they are being accused. If they continue to use 'racist' out of context they risk devaluing the word so that it loses it's importance and gravitas to become like a schoolyard jibe - meaningless and empty.

Like 99% of males who say they are transgender, Jane is a wolf in sheep's clothing. They all say they have a sheep's brain in a wolf's body and that they just want to be accepted for their real wooly selves but we can see through it. I remember when I was young and made new friends I would try to ignore anything nasty or negative I discovered about them and thought that the good bits of them would make up for the bad, but I was fooling myself. You can't trust a wolf, especially if they baa and have a wool coat.

I will update with news as it happens. I am trying to figure out what explanation I am going to give to our community elders as to why I am not going to play the trans game. I usually tell people that cross-dressing is a sexual fetish and transgenderism linked to a fetish is like public masturbation, so doing pronouns and treating a man with a fetish as a woman is like me stroking his penis in public and him getting his rocks off every time someone validates him. I don't feel comfortable talking to elderly community leaders about how a man is manipulating them for sexual purposes. Most of them wouldn't understand what I am on about anyway.

I peaked years ago but today was the first time trans lunacy has come to my front door and invaded my home.

I live in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere and because of our small population we have to all get along and co-operate or our community falls apart. Newcomers move here because of this special relationship we all have and new residents are immediately welcomed and made to feel they are an important addition to the community. Before covid forced us into lockdown we had a man from the city come down here doing odd jobs for people. He seemed nice and plenty of people hired him to do small jobs so he got to meet most people in the village. He loved it here so much he was arranging to move here when covid hit so he went back to the city with plans to move here before September. Everything was fine and dandy until I found out through a city friend that this guy is a cross-dresser but has now decided he is transgender and has been taking hormones and arranging 'gender affirming care' while in lockdown. He expects our small rural village to accept this new version of him and use female pronouns and treat him as a woman in every way without anyone objecting.

I am the only person in the community who has even heard of the term 'transgender' so I'm actually expecting most people to treat his fetish as they would treat someone with a quirky new religion. I don't know how individual villagers will react to his man now asking to be called 'she' but I do know this man in a dress will tear our community apart because anyone who is not onboard with his delusion (so far only me because I can't speak for anyone else) may be ostracised for dissenting. How can we welcome someone in and then turn around and disapprove of his lifestyle? People in our lovely village will have to pick a side and I have this terrible feeling I will be the only person refusing to validate his new identity.

He is a lovely man and I really like him. He is supposed to be doing some work for me when he moves here but I think the shit will hit the fan regarding his fetish before he starts. His selfishness at not thinking about how his autogynephillia may divide our village just makes me so angry. I have been sworn to secrecy by my informant so I can't even talk to anyone about this, not even my husband.

The man is in his 60's, bisexual, divorced, and has children and grandchildren. He only decided he is trans this year when he had nothing better to do in lockdown than concentrate of his sexual fetish via the internet. Christ only knows what other paraphillias he may have.

I honestly think that even if they got everything they are currently fighting for they would change tack and still be screaming for something else. It can only end in the annihilation of the modern transgender movement. As an ideology it feeds on chaos and drama so if they win and are given all they want there will be a drama vacuum and they will cease to exist.

Listen to the words they are saying without thinking what it would mean if a woman were saying it. Women who say they want to get pregnant mean they want to raise children. These men say they want to have periods, to be pregnant, to breastfeed, and to be called mothers, but at no time do they say they want to have children. There is no talk of yearning to raise kids or form a bond with them. It is only about the biology of being a woman that they crave, not the lifelong consequences of actually birthing children. They can already have their own genetic offspring because they are male sexed beings, but they don't want them.

Positioning marriage as a desire for women rather than a necessity for men was a brilliant move by the patriarchy by WhyDoesHeDoThat in GenderCritical

[–]itsnotaboutewe 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is true for modern marriage but it's not how it was in my grandmother's days or even in my own youth. Children used to live in their parents home until they married. Men were expected to provide a home for their wives but sometimes they moved their wives into their parent's home until they could afford to set up a separate residence. Women married to become the mistresses of their own homes without living under parental rules. Any woman who didn't marry stayed with her parents until they died whereupon she moved in with the brother who inherited. An unmarried woman was a burden because she did not produce an income and could not interfere with the her married sister in law's running of the house. A single woman did need marriage to survive but a man could remain single and work, or squander his inheritance if he wished. I'm glad things have changed but we need to remember what marriage was until very recently.

I saw one that was a photo of three middle aged women standing together in a store and the caption was something like - "A herd of Karens." They weren't doing anything other than standing together, but for that they were mocked. It seems that every woman is a Karen who is deserving of ridicule and abuse for simply existing in a public place. I can't recall one instance throughout history of it being socially acceptable to treat a group of people this way.
