Blue Velvet was Dennis Hopper's big comeback after a couple of decades on speed. The old kind, not meth. "Don't you look at me. Don't you flippin look at me." I guess you didn't see Twin Peaks when it first came out. It was a sensation. People were bringing each other Beta copies to work (connoisseurs only used Beta in the Middle Ages.) and asking probing questions like: Who is your favorite Twin Peaks character? Gays, that I worked with then, were wild for the program.
