Any other old Diggers from The Great Exodus of 2010 forced to migrate once again? by thegreatmighty in Introductions

Hello fellow old Digg (and now Reddit) refugee! I think that we users will migrate to whatever the new, young, untainted new site is, hopefully to watch it grow and become more active and engaging. Then once it becomes large enough to get the attention of corporations/advertisers, the slow steady decline will begin until we finally hit the point where it's time to start looking for the next Digg/Reddit.

Almost like a flower on the vine, it seems like the life cycle of a popular website buds, blooms, and then inevitably dies. Nothing good lasts forever it seems. Our job as internet users is to hop from one flower to the next once it begins to wilt. Sadly, reddit has been wilting for a long time. Here's to hoping Saidit is beginning to bud and hopefully blooms soon.

This is great news! I visit a couple times a day because it's not as big or as fast moving as reddit (duh) but I predicted the day I signed up that someday this site will grow into something good. Keep up the good work!

Very cool. I remember when the eclipse happened and it was at its darkest hearing crickets become active and noisy. Not at all surprised bees changed their behavior also.

I already made plans to see it with my buddies. I had hoped that it wasn't going to be a trainwreck but sadly it sounds like it's going to be.

This is my concern too. I'm all about supporting newer, smaller sites as reddit continues it's march toward bland advertiser-friendly irrelevance. But so many of the other smaller sites are seething with knuckle-dragging aggressive racism that it's a major turn off. The whole point of this is promoting unity and cohesiveness, not racism and division. Is all of us against the system, not against each other.

NSFW text warning: I hate that I know that suicide by doorknob is indeed possible. There's a video of a young man online that I saw who committed suicide via doorknob. He livestreamed it while people watched. If memory serves he's wearing a red Nike shirt. If you're committed to going out this way it is indeed very possible to do. I remember watching his body convulse as his face reddened. It takes a few minutes but after awhile he stopped convulsing and laid dead and the blood from his face drained to the lower portions of his body. Because he livestreamed it, someone called the police and they arrived. They tried to resuscitate him but they were too late.

That being said... I absolutely agree that the string of suspicious doorknob deaths are extremely suspect. But in the effort to seek the truth, I want people to realize that a person who is indeed committed to commit suicide via hanging on a doorknob can be successful. I'm not going to link the video for obvious reasons, but it's out there if you need to see that it's possible.

It was interesting seeing the connection between the cube shape and religious symbols.

I agree completely. It may take a generation for the overall public's opinion to change, but it definitely needs to change. We can do better than this.

Sadly, I'm not surprised. It's not just the taxes, but the fact that we're the only "first world" country that doesn't have universal healthcare. Families shouldn't be bankrupted because of medical bills.
